In this video we are taking a look at the first boss which feels more like a tutorial boss but can be a little bit on the tougher side in Armored Core 6. This boss looks like a standard helicopter but will very quickly destroy you as it has lots of different attacks that will fill up your impact bar and stun you before you know it.
This Armored Core 6 boss fight is a lot of fun and I believe it shows you what to expect from the rest of the game on a bit of an easier learning curve. More Armored Core 6 tips are on the way because I think FromSoft have stuck some difficult bosses in the game with the AH12 HC Helicopter just being the very beginning. Got smoked by this thing 10 times before I beat it. Gaddamn you got to melee the MF in the face like 4 or 3 times and it goes down fast.
This boss has taken me by surprise! Tutorial boss absolutely annihilated me, sit forward on sofa moment... not killed it yet but I am getting irritated at the arena size, most of the time I fly close it seems to be out of bounds which is kinda crappy!
Edit: Destroyed it with 500ap remaining, out of bounds thing was a real pita.
i’m going to ride this out for a bit… but the sandbox for this boss was way too small
Died 30+ times fighting it from afar. Kept hugging it and being in it's face and I didn't even need to heal
i'd expect a boss like this after a tutorial and maybe after i have had time to customize and make a few adjustments to my AC. This guy goes hard right out the gate, and beating my head against the wall just ain't worth it tonight lol.
edit: Beat him 2nd try this morning, i found it easier to find cover, wait till he fly's to a new position, then fast boost to him for a melee hit, use rockets and fire gun whenever you can and then find cover again. Rinse and repeat. Eventually he'll go down before you run out of repair kits. Playing too aggressively always ended in dying for me.
i know.. i'm wondering if I should restart the mission and just get a feel for the controls more. or if I should come back tomorrow all caffeinated and alert
Yeah it aucks you have to play the game how the devs want. I like playing aggressive yet every souls game punishes you specifically for it. Whatever i’ll just play how dev #6 demanded we play it. Peeking and shooting and sitting around while the AI does fuck all
@@elijahrod5656 this boss had me a little tilted last night. but it's a skill check, teaching us that we sometimes need to be aggressive and not to give any space to the opponent. it's kinda like a pulse sword tutorial. but I get what you mean about very specific ways the devs want the game to be played. maybe it's just the first few bosses

This boss is bullshit. I was having a decent time with that 1st stage and then just ran completely into a wall against this thing. The lock-on camera is useless, the helicopter is constantly moving, the helicopter is fond of sitting outside the barriers of the arena where you can't melee it, and the thing can shred you in seconds. And the game has taught you next to nothing about playing the game up to this point. It's just terribly designed. I had to put the game down and go play something else.

I was struggling at first because of how counterintuitive it is to just hide and poke the boss but once I figured out that you need to be in it’s face then it became surprisingly easy to beat
This is straight from the formula for FromSoft games, particularly in the early game, if something seems ridiculously hard, you're probably not using the right approach. I did the same thing as you and got wrecked. Then I realized going hyperaggressive and in its face was the way to go. I probably defeated the ship in under a minute doing that.
@@axt2it’s not supremely easy to beat since you only have a limited amount of boost upwards and he starts flying outside the zone.. it’s incredibly stupid and a terrible boss but that is normal for from soft and there terrible design in games.. most overrated studio in gaming

@@bodacious117 this has to be a troll post. The boss fight is instructional and also helps make sure you grasp some of the core game mechanics (i.e. stagger, boosting, the utility of melee). Think of it as an entrance exam.
Melee is absolutely necessary in this boss fight. I'm sure the developers intended for you to attack the cockpit up close.

For me a hard lock on made a huge difference. Even with these tips I had trouble but once I engaged the targeting I performed drastically better and in very short order managed to get it into a staggered state.
This was the key for me. Because you have an automatic lock on, I was neglecting the manual lock on. Once I made use of the manual lock on, it got a lot easier.
Ya the boss hovers outside the boundary like 60% of the time, so make sure you lure the boss back inside the arena by running around the boxy buildings and hiding. Then just L3 dash at the helicopter and slash at him.
Waited till 10:00pm release last night with the goal of beating the first boss. 11:00pm and I had done it. Take your time and learn. Got my ass handed to me though. Some stuff he didn’t mention, you can get two free hits with melee when he enters the arena. Use your rocket salvo and machine gun to keep that stagger bar. Stay on the ground until you bait out a lock on missile attack from him and use assault rush as soon as it fires to get some more melee. He should be done in two or three rounds of this back and forth.
Dont underestimate the starting sword, it will be a very impactful friend on bosses if you use it well :)
Im proud to say ive never struggled with the tutorial bosses in fromsoft games (with the exception of Demon souls and sekiro) but this is clearly a whole other type of game besides the difficulty.

Same. Still has the Fromsoft learning curve like their other games but took me a tad to adjust to the AC playstyle. I was chillin on the ground trying to perfect dodge all the missles and using the buildings for cover my first round of attempts on the heli. Seems like for the most part so far it seems like souls games/ER are about patience and timing and AC is like nawwww just get in there and wreck them... but then again im a dual ultra user so i guess its time to unga bunga with mechas now!
Here's a way to get big damage really easily at the start. Go towards it when it's about to come in once it's in the area and a bit less than medium distance away from you and still isn't ready. Assault boost towards it and hit multiple times with your balde and then you'll be under it towards its rear shoot it with your missiles and then keep shooting it. Once it's out of your sight orient yourself ASAP and lock onto it, thats it.
Now the rest of the fight begins as he says stay close (at least medium range)! use the cover, watch your energy and find opportunities to assault boost and use your blade, also use your missles. Make sure to dodge its missiles using the quick boost and don't be afraid to use your repair kits if you're low.
This boss was destroying me this morning I almost deleted the whole game. Finally won on my 20th attempt. Just stay relatively close and use the plasma sword. Don’t stay on the ground too long 😂

Double tap melee until it’s staggered (so two double melees) then cheese and repair kit. Should only have to do this three times

Use your repair kits guys!!!! You have 3. Bost to it's front, slash 2 times, then land. Repeat this over and over

@@sed8181 just press the button again for me it’s L2 on ps5 after the first slash…you can also spam it a little and it should do the second slash after the first one

Except, the boss's stun bar resets faster then you can land, jump back up, and hit him again...(plus he often moves to places where you just can't sword him)
And once you do stun him, all your weapons are on cool down until he after he recovers...

Idk how but just hearing the tip about staying close and also knowing what the yellow bar did made this fight a lot easier and I managed to beat it fairly easily after a few tries
My favorite part how it can hover outside the containment zone where you cant get near it 🙄
first 12 tries, it kept going outside of my bounds and missile spamming me... it was frustratingly stupid...

AC' Definitely feeling a lot lighter now on the this game. Gonna take a bit of practice to re-wire my brain and adapt.

Your lucky that the boss doesn't go out of the boundaries just to cheap shot you, every other player experienced the boss going out of the boundary and staying there for a very long time.

Thanks, died a bunch of times after what felt like I had been doing a good on if avoiding damage for a large period of time and still getting no where.
Thanks for mentioning "Impact Bar". I sweared the tutorial didn't mentioned it.
I think starting out, I'd start standing still sthooting, try to jump and get one melee hit. Fail the first hit? Just reset checkpoint. Then just keep hitting range weapon to keep Impact Bar high while trying to keep meleeing it.
The key is melee deal huge DMG here but you want to keep hitting some range so that you could build that Impact Bar stun for that melee DMG.
I almost had him last night when he proceeds to fly into a zone where apparently I can’t attack him but his attacks still hit me. I rage quit after that death.

My only issue was that it flew outside the boundary. Embarrassingly, it took me 2 times to realize why I was just out of range after doing an assault charge into sword slash only to get pieced by a missile barrage.
In the end I just evaded the missiles by hiding behind buildings, waited until it flew towards the middle and just...wailed on it. Rinse and repeat.

i get they want to make a hard boss, but to have it right out of the gate and no way of bypassing it for a moment is a bit ridiculous, this guy makes it look easy, every time i get close to it it flies away out of bounds

Hells yeah this actually did it for me. Beat it on second try after watching the video. The trick? Restarting fresh with full health and repair kits and then starting to head to where the copter enters the arena from so I can immediately start wailing melee on it and took it out in no time!

Its a good idea to scan in the middle of fighting. It decreases the lock on time.

What I did, shot some shots then flew up to him and go the sword hit in, rinse and repeat and you can knock him out. Took me till the 3rd fight to figure it out.

Took me 3 attempts, didn't know I could slash twice in the beginning. Basically bait the boss getting closer by staying behind covers, then L3 boost towards him and cut his face. Rinse and repeat.
As soon as I realized I wasn't used left stick click to b line straight to him. I beat him in one try using melee. Maybe others aren't utilizing it either?
I've failed 3 times against this boss after i finally listened to the guy from the radio transmitter to fly up to avoid the missiles and taking cover from the turrets to beat this boss. Ngl this is my first time playing an AC game

Souls game got their difficulty in this game.
Armored core games are hard but you can beat it depending on your mech build and load out.
So if your build and mech load out sucks then you will die alot of times and theres no getting around it you gotta learn how to properly build.
The boss stays out of bounds for me.... when i get him to a third health he stays out of bounds and dosent come back.
Update: Got his ass by bum rushing the fuck out of him.
took me dozens of tries, I restarted the mission to get more practice with the Assault Boost/L3 button controls (which the game barely tells you how to use properly). With the assault boost, you have to use the right analog (camera controls) to move during the boost, and the left analog stick only controls sidestepping left and right. This helped me immensely in the fight, because you get easily get close to the boss with the assault boost, and just use the right analog stick to guide your AC upwards towards the cockpit of the helicopter and slash away. Also you can use the jump button to cancel the Assault Boost
I just used the assault boost and melee it. Dodge to refill stamina. Assault boost melee repeat
I find it funny the that the souls community, a community built on telling others to "Get gud", are the ones complaining about this tutorial boss the most.

I try to melee it, it just does this mechanical sound and won't melee. Like it being blocked or something
This boss frustrated me to the point I’m about to take this back
I managed to get it to retreat towards the building/wall, finished at around a minute. If you boost into the air towards it while firing your gun and missiles, when you get close enough, do a double melee attack and continue firing afterwards, it should stagger and your melee should be available for you again. Rinse and repeat as long as it doesn't go out of bounds. Of it goes out of bounds bait it back by hiding behind the buildings. You should be close enough to where the attacks can't hit you properly most of the time. Good luck.

@@Born2Game I whooped him. Just beat juggernaut too. Discovered a hack. Landed on his back and spammed him with laser sword, rockets, and whatever the starting assault cannon is called. Had his health almost totally gone by the time the other AC pilot took off. It was great! Way easier than the AH12 HC, which I've taken to calling Iudex Gunship, seeing as how it accomplishes the same thing as Iudex Gundyr: hard tutorial boss/noob crusher which causes people to quit.
I beat it second or third try but I was not playing well at all because I was not used to the controls and energy management + combat yet. I kept holding down or spamming the square button instead of the circle or doing nothing. The victory felt like a fluke but ig that's just how it is when you're learning. I've never played an armored core before.
Just beat it in sortie this time I didn't feel like a fluke only got D rank but it felt good.

This boss made me punch a hole in my drywall.
I am a mech nerd. From Gundam, to Macross and basically anything with cool mechs.
I also don't like and abhor the Souls games since I am not a fan of their game-play. The only thing holding me back from buying this game is the fear it will be a Souls like difficulty where I must squeeze in the numbers and have maybe 2 chances of screwing up.
Armored Core has always had a learning curve but just because its made by From Software doesnt mean it will automatically be Dark Souls with mechs 🙄.
Got him 4th try using the sword and getting up close. Staying far away or on the ground is certain death.

ngl, that tutorial boss was objectively unfair. The boss can move and attack outside the combat 'boundaries', and can pepper you with multiple long range attacks. Your AC on the other hand, cannot move outside the boundaries to chase it down, has no access to changing equipment, with long range weapons that do little damage, forcing you to take huge risks with flying at the boss and hoping that the melee attack will hit the boss. Overall an unfair fight that really should have been tweaked with a lower health for the boss, or at least the option for the boss to crash to the ground once it has been 'stunned'.
I thought it was super difficoult, then I found the lock-on button and utterly destroyed it.........
When I try to reach its face the helicopter moves away. If somehow I manage to reach it, I have no energy for the sword. If I hide behind the things, the missiles hit me anyway. Fuck it I'm unistalling it
I cannot imagine the people's reaction that raging on this boss when they gb by multiple ACs lol..

Hahaha, after watching this, I kept close, meled and won in like 20 seconds. I didn't even have to use a repair kit.
I could get him down about 3/4 health but then the splash damage would get me. I was hiding behind the buildings and jumping and shooting missles. But this worked way faster.
I just died to this fucking boss like 20 times. Each time I'm about to kill it, it flys into the invisible wall area and I get fucked.
This boss is getting on my nerves. I tried lile 7 to 8 times and stopped. Its 2am and I am tired. Tomorrow I will try a bit more watching this video.
When you finally stagger him - is there any way to do a death blow/stun move or do I just stand looking at him waiting for my ammo to recharge?? 😭🤣
Try and make sure your weapons are reloaded when you stagger him
I'm having a better time with this game using a xbox controller but there doesn't seem to be a button bind for those rockets that are key bound to "E" on the keyboard. Does anyone know how to use this weapon with a controller?

Lol if you actually like armored core and didnt just buy the game because you seen from software made it then yes the game is fun 😂. But you were like a bunch of idiots that seen from software making it and thought "oH WoW dARk soULs wItH MeChS!" Which its absolutely nothing like whatsoever.

The person in the video said "get as close as possible or get personal" but the issue is that the choppa flys out of the boundary, so how the hell are we suppose to get up close and personal if there is boundaries that stops us from getting up close then??

Yes lol swinging a sword at a flying target (a target you fly towards) is "too complicated" 😂 maybe if you cant figure out how to hold a controller lmfao. Maybe you need a game that beats itself for you 😂 otherwise it might get too complicated for you tiny mind :)

Ive never played AC, i was confused when people mentioned some tutorial boss being hard and forgot about this helicopter completely. Just fly up to it and melee its not that tricky.

Alright, good luck with the rest, the chapter 1 boss got me good. However it seems in this game sometimes you dont need all senses as much as just knowing the proper fit for the fight.

Jump. Point in direction of helicopter. Use turbo speed boost to zoom up in the air into its face. Swing sword at arrival. Repeat 3 times. Profit.

I just about quit this game for good and almost uninstalled because of this boss. Then it clicked with me to speed boos underneath of him as much as possible. There's times when you just can't avoid taking damage because I'd use up all the boost and it would blink red and I couldn't use any actions. But staying underneath and behind him on the ground and flying up and melee him as much as possible and try to spam my whole arsenal of everything worked. I ended up seeing this video after already beating him. I will say this is my first ever armor core game, and man, it is really dam good. I didn't know I was missing out on such a good game and a fun time.
The most important tip is target lock. Without this you will struggle. Not sure why all the tutorials i read or watch mention everything but this. Target lock and then the boss is manageable.
Managing stamina is my biggest problem
Thank you. I just beat the 1st helicopter. Took 30 attempts. Game has a layer more than any mech game I tried and lost interest in right away. Mellie is crucial. I stayed underneath, used jump rocket to Mellie , and only boots/quick boost/or super rocket boot if he got away to get back underneath while evading. Missals and guns are a supplement. Dont keep distance, it will barrage you and keep stunning you. I hedge on buying because starfield is coming, i could not wait since its a from soft game and i'm glad i got this game. its a keeper.

weve had 40 years of video games and weve still not learned that first impressions count. if im stuck merely 5 minutes into the game im already done with it. i quit and tried 4 times over the last 2 days now and everytime i had to play the game from the beginning because of nonexistent save games. it took me longer to install the game than it took the game to piss me off enough to never play it again.
