Sounds like Messmer the Impaler at the height of his holy war against the hornsent; full of seething hatred but also burning with righteous conviction.
I mean, good for him that he cleared those maniacs. It's awful that they were all killed and decimated but at the same time, they literally butchered villages and other people so that they can ascend to divinity. Fucked up
Reasons as to why this is awesome (there are probably other factors I haven't noticed but that I am enjoying): 0:43 an innocent (flute) and gentle tune alluding into Messmer's potentially soft heart hidden behind his duties; adds a good sense of tragedy. 2:01 reintroduces some of the epic string section that come from first phase (Radagon's theme) making the shift from first to second phase more gradual 2:48 is absolutely beautiful, the resentful and mad choir of the second phase now has ring to it that I interpret as the "angelic fall", for it finally gives way to the original's phase two, a man succumbing to his resentment and casting away what was dear to him.
See, I interpret this rendition as being the opening as dedicated to Messmer when he was still at his mother’s side, acting almost with a heroism as he absorbed all the hatred and fervor felt by the victims of the Crusade. Messmer was never a hero, but mainly cause he was never given the opportunity to be one. The woman’s voice here almost seems symbolic of Marika herself too, as thorough to reel him in whenever he might experience doubt at all the pain and suffering he’s causing
this gives off quite a different sense than the original. like the original has almost a sense of hopelessness, whereas this very much does not. this is like a more epic and triumphant version of messmer's theme. in other words, its peak.
This feels so much brighter and clearer than the original. Very good sounding overall and it's like you extrapolated the epic sauce that was kinda hidden in the original. The original sounds like the whole orchestra is super compressed so you don't hear all the instruments properly, the choir feels very distant and doesn't really stands out. You really gave justice to the original in my opinion, so damn goood!!!
What about Promised Consort Radahn? You already have old Radahn mix, but this is wholly different. This will be awesome! No, even better, this will be alright!
As cheesy as this sounds but I always play this version of messmers theme when I'm using fire spells and ashes of war. Same thing for your version of the godskins theme. You made them both realy awesome and epic themes.
Ok, so the first time I went through the DLC, I thought Messmer was neat but nothing more. Then I kept finding more and more lore about him. Simple theories like him being Marika's firstborn, or him trying to help the shamans in the jars. Eventually all these little things compiled, and finally after fighting him again yesterday, I finally watched a full video about his story and he has risen to be one of my favorites. Really sucks that we have to kill him to be honest. I feel like if it wasn't for everyone wanting the tarnished dead, he genuinely might have helped us just because he's that kind of guy.
@@AetherandChaos Rellana I feel I got quite lucky with her only 2 tries so I dong fully understand the difficulty there and I also broke her stance like 3 times somehow so that definitely helped
While I love Miquella and Radahns music and fight I can’t help but feel a little letdown that the devs just left such awesome stuff like this to rot (no pun intended). Like it be cool to actually see the Gloam eyed Queen even if it’s Melina try and rise back to power or even just as a secret final boss. I hope Elden Ring isn’t completely done and they make another smaller dlc brushing up on some stuff they missed or might’ve wanted to elaborate on. I feel the Frenzy ending kinda wraps it up and says Melina basically stalks us down till we’re dead and most likely succeeded considering she survived the Flame of Frenzy destroying the world and awakened as the Goddess of Death whom is also an empyrean. Maybe that’s the answer we needed… of course Melina can beat us.. she’s death incarnate now
Despite his fate, of which he was aware when he was sent away, he very likely knew the importance of getting sent off to deal with that threat. (source: Marikas Conversation with him recited for us by Melina at the Third Church of Marika.) The hornsent HAD to go and their disgusting terror had to stop. Whenever I isten to this, I imagine Messmer scorching the 3 Divine Beasts, Dancing Lions, we see getting speared up in the storytrailer.
I thought that was addressed to Godfrey and his warriors, who became the Tarnished. The only evidence that Godfrey might have ever set foot in the Land of Shadow is the Secret Rite Scroll, which might suggest that he would have needed to be at the Gate of Divinity in order for Marika to use it, but that was long before Messmer's crusade.
@@Nemo12417 wot? mmh Mixing up dialogue options into a delicious stew! Melina talks about "Marikas First Son" that will bascially go on a crusade, whilst publically acting as if he and the (winged/abyssal) serpent was a traitor of the eardtree. That s when he got presumeably sent to the lands of shadow. ("Those that "die" in the lands between get washed ashore the lands of shadow" and in the lands between that 3rd church of Marika is also standing directly near a shoreside. It only makes sense that she knows about this as she s his sister. I d rather think of that secret rite scroll as a "narration" from what we see in the storytrailer. (Marika taking some sort of golden essence from a white carcass (presumeably serpent?) and ascends the Divine Gate, brandishing it and presumeably ascending to a god herself or maybe creating the Elden Ring for "escaping" into the lands between or something.. Godfrey and his warriors put the giants to the sword whilst slowly fastening Marikas influence upon her arrival. The giants ruled the lands between before her arrival and imma be real, the golden era, despite it s flaws, looked a very noticable ammount nicer and warmer.. Anyways, after defeating the giants and doing some golden Gardening and reigning as the Souvereign of the Lands Between and of her Golden Order Marika must have found out something.. Or maybe she couldnt take it anymore as she saw falling everything slowly apart a second time. I kinda feel bad for her.. She really tried her best and in her era of light that promised to be eternal but presumeably went on for millenia (only) she had to relive the horrors of loosing everything and everyone all over again, like a cursed cycle. And that presumeably made her realize that she was just gaslit by the two fingers (item from Metyr rememberance) and thus a pawn to the Greater Wlll. She sent away her consort Godfrey and his warriors that were exiled from the lands between as the first tarnished, after presumably denying the Greater Will influence by taking their grace from them, sending them into exile to grow power and return stronger. The sad thing here is, that it all was SO close to working out, if the tarnished hadn t interfered. In a perfect world, blondie would have been saved by Godfrey..
@@seventyfour8256 The Marika quote at the third church reads "My Lord, and thy warriors. I divest each of thee of thy grace. With thine eyes dimmed, ye will be driven from the Lands Between. Ye will wage war in a land afar, where ye will live, and die." Can you explain how this is referring to Messmer and not Godfrey ("My Lord")?
