Apologies for the mistake on this one, and thank you to those who pointed it out! The Feign Death effects bring the creature back into play tapped, so the combo would need something to ensure Cormela can untap, for example Amulet of Vigor, Intruder Alarm are some that some of you pointed out! Or you could utilize one that does not bring it back into play tapped like Demonic Gifts. Also there are other ways to combo that others have pointed out like any way to keep cloning your commander (like Splinter Twin), and then an Extra Turn spell that does not exile itself. Apologies again for the mistake!

Still works with intruder alarm... bit more expensive/complicated, but it still works. Footsteps of the Goryo, Persist, and Goryo's Vengeance are the best options and makeshift Mannequin in a pinch.
Feign Death and the others return the commander to the battlefield TAPPED, so this doesn't work unless you have Intruder Alarm/Amulet of Vigor in play or another way to untap it for basically free.
It does work with a couple cards: persist, demonic gifts, and goryo’s vengeance all work if I’m correct. Definitely demonic gifts though

You need to use Demonic gifts for this combo to work. That one doesn’t have her re-enter in play tapped.

@bladeofsteael only once. It would come back with the +1/+1 counter, then you could cast the spell on it again but as it has the counter in it it would stay in the graveyard.
@@BlueGriffin20 but if you have both undying evil and then another 1 cost undying card and then it’s infinite red/blue again. The +1/+1 goes away with one of the tapped undying cards. You can also just loop with say a swarm intelligence/thousand-year storm. It’s not turn 3 but it’s easy lol
i'm pretty sure the combo doesn't work with the cards in the video because they make the creature enter the battlefield tapped, and we therefore can't tap Cornela when she comes back but a crad like Demonic Gifts (an instant from kaldheim) does the same thing for 2 mana and makes the creature come back untapped

As someone with a Kess deck, I honestly don't know what I would swap out for her. Everything she does there are things in the deck that do them better and are more specialised.

No need for a sac outlet if you have Birgi out if you're using twinflame and you just legend rule the one that has already activated. Now you can make infinite black/blue for instance/sorcery since you +1 mana each rotation.
Also, i've been scanning your channel for the past few days for this video hoping it would come out. I was afraid that YOU were just looking right over this commander. Glad it got a video.

Amulet of Vigor fixes the returning to the battlefield tapped issue for the combo.
Step 1: Have commander.
Step 2: Have card that benefits from literally anything you are doing in the deck.
Step 3: Have one of the 8-ish spells that combo.
Seems easy enough.
There’s quite a few that work around the limitation of “tapped”. I don’t remember the name, but one untaps all creatures that share a creature type with a creature that just died (some blue enchantment). Anyways, Amulet of Vigor, Intruder Alarm, not using one that taps: all combos. Wooo.
Chump change. The real strat is polymorph into Drivnod recast Cormela and use burnt offering alongside demonic gifts to generate infinite mana. Use the infinite mana to replace demonic gifts with corpse dance in the combo so you can add a third card going back to hand. Any instant or sorcery in ubr. I personally like recuring bump in the night over and over again.
A little back story: I've actually been tinkering this combo line for a while now. First with b/r chainer using harmonic prodigy and revolutionist as standins for Cormela and Drivnod doubling up on etbs instead of dying triggers and using feign death and sacrifice. Then it was Proshh adding green for the ramp and him specifically because he's a sac outlet in the command zone. Green also allowed me to use eternal witness and harmonic prodigy much the same way only with the added ability to bring back any one other additional card including permanents.
Update* the card not dead yet is a "feign death" that also damages your opponents so the loop itself becomes lethal. We no longer need bump in the night, and because we don't need that as the third card coming back to hand every return trigger, we also don't need corpse dance.
(Updated loop) Have Drivnod + Cormela on the battlefield and sacrifice + burnt offering + not dead yet in hand. Use not dead yet on Cormela, cast the instant "sacrifice" to gain bbbb from Cormela's cmc, she dies dealing one damage to each opponent and bringing back not dead yet and then comes back to the battlefield, use not dead yet again then burnt offering (adding bbbr), killing Cormela which brings back both not dead yet and sacrifice. This loops and flip flops between using sacrifice or burnt offering to kill Cormela, dealing damage with the "wicked role token" enchantment from not dead yet. This also doesn't care if Cormela is tapped as we aren't using her tap ability. I've built this as mid to low tier cedh (maybe an 8 - 8.5). While the combo requires 4 cards out of the library to go off they are all easily tutorable and/or recoverable. Meaning as long as any graveyard hate is countered it's quite resilient.
Won’t you also need a lot of ways to untap Cormela though? In order to keep making mana with her
I love the fact that clone spells become mystic retrievals.
That's an interesting combo line.... maybe something with crackling counterpart that is a spell that you could get back.
@@justcausee something you could do is make a token copy of Cormela, sacing the original. Then play Brudiclad. I'm sure that could get out of hand quickly
@@SYST3MGL1TCH Budiclad could make it so you get multiple death triggers, but it'd be slow and only on attacks. I've been working this combo line for a couple years now, but stay with me camera guy ok.

I think you overlooked the very important fact that feign death, undying malice, and supernatural stamina all have the creature enter tapped. So we can’t activate our commander again.

Capture of Jingzhou is another extra turn spell that doesn't exile.
There's just the small problem of it being 200 dollars
All three of those return the commander tapped so you can’t activate her right away. There are others that will return her untapped however and can still go infinite, they just cost two instead of one.
Totally glossed over the fact she has haste, I'm much more interested after this. Might be my first grixis commander. Ps. Thanks for reminding me about thermopod, definitely putting that in my Olivia Crimson Bride deck

Alright here's a janky infinite, you have storm kill artist and Cormela on that field with at least 2 lands, you play cantrip and and use Cormela to to play demonic gifts and grapeshot, both targeting her, use her second ability being both of those back and now you have infinite damage
I wish I could see more comments talking about this card in a deck but everyone and their mother had to point out you were wrong :/

@@ingolf82 right but it still nets infinite etb and death triggers and you can get infinite colorless with Ashnods. Same with Footsteps of Goryo.
As long as it's 3 mana or less, it's infinite. You don't go infinite if you don't have an out, that includes infinite mana.

Tell Eddie his combo doesn't work since all those Feign Death effects come back TAPPED. You need to add untap effects like Intruder Alarm or Amulet of Vigor. Preferably the Amulet if you really want to keep that "Turn 3" part you put in the title.
how can you activate Cormela a second time when she etb's tapped? She needs to tap to get that 3 mana. It'd be activate, sac, return to battlefield tapped, stop.

I know it's been a month and I'm late but for everyone saying talking about demonic gifts is way better and I agree I run all of the instants that bring her back even tapped since I have so many ways to kill her for mana and go infinite for the win, while yes it takes more steps it can also make her more consistent if you build it right
Reentering tapped issue aside...
Feign Death says "until end of turn..." So you only need to keep recasting it to build Storm count.
Got her and the two other vamp grixis commanders in my pre release...now to buy the anhelo precon
Use Lier, Disciple of the Drowned to protect your combo. It can only be affected on the stack (even destroying your altar isn't fast enough), and without counters it physically can't be stopped before you go sufficiently infinite.
...Though Lier could just get removed and then you're vulnerable to counters again...
Cool ideas! But for me, Cormela, Glamour Queen will be the face commander for a Carmen Sandiego theme deck I have wanted to build for a long time.
Unless you have amulet of vigor or intruder alarm or anything that untaps a creature, you aren't going infinite any time soon

Be careful.. Those spells bring back the commander tapped... you'll need amulet of vigor or another method to untap Cormela.

I've spent about half my break time at the shift to make this deck only to fully read Feign Death cards :)
If you've got the money use shallow grave or corpse dance. Or use demonic gifts if you want just one cheap option.

I read through the new capenna card list, and Cormela was one of the only cards I had my eye on. And I traded for it with a friend.
Entering in tapped seems to be the issue. I doubt he missed it. Maybe the section he goes over getting past that restriction got edited out on accident.
Demonic Gifts, Goryo's Vengeance, and Exhume should all work for this. You net at least 1 mana each iteration (more if you use a sac-for-mana ability to get her in the yard).
umm.... the mana filter is a tap ability. every feign death style card makes her come back tapped?
take victimize instead (costs 3) but you get an additional creature.
I'd go Cormela + Victimize
+ Body Double and any creature that can sacrifice itself for Mana.
Basal Silver, Blood Petz, Blood Vassal, Catalyst Elementa, Crosis Attendant, Morgze Toad.
With Thermopod it might even work without Body double.

Yawgmoth is nice but there need to be more creatures on the battlefield to target. It won't draw you a card if it targets the same creature you sacrifice but you will lose a life.

It's a card that can be ran in a lot of decks to circumvent lands coming in tapped or if your opponent is trying to hose your creatures and artifacts with Authority of the Consuls or Blind Obedience. It even turns budget cards into high power ones 🤙🏽
