  • Join our own How Bowers and his 8mm video camera for a walk around Disney-MGM Studios as it was in 1993. Star Wars fans will enjoy a ride on Star Tours and Muppets fans should keep an eye out for some puppets and props from "Muppet Christmas Carol".

1993 was my first year in the Disney parks. Wow smaller crowds no need for a fast pas! No cell phones, you can actually see people's faces! A partnership with MG. Movies and tv shows produced and made hear as well as animation. You could tour working production shops and sets. The back lot tour. Bring me back this older, smaller yet more relaxing true studio themed park. Thank you for posting this video! I love the old Disney MGM Studio! WOW!

I was there in June 1993 with my daughter who was four at the time. It was her first of many trips to WDW. I wish Disney would bring back the magic it held in the 90’s. I would love to bring my granddaughters, but not the way things are now. Thanks for sharing Disney memories of a simpler time that truly did hold magic.

My first trip to WDW was in June 1993 and I was 7. The first park we ever visited was MGM Studios. I remember so vividly the Honey I Shrunk The Kids playground. That was one of the best experiences of my childhood I loved it. I remember the Muppets too and the Backlot tour. Seems very very different these days 😢 x

I worked there during that time. Wish one of the shows was going when you walked by. I was in both Beauty and the Beast and the Muppets On Location shows at that time.

Known as the Walt Disney Amphitheater.

I was living in Ormond Beach, Florida at that time and I was a student at the college in Daytona Beach. My first WDW trip was in 1986. I guess. Actually, I visited Disneyland in L.A. with a group of school from Modesto, CA when I was 13. That was my first time. Fun!

Excellent! My first time at WDW was in 1993. This is when I quickly fell in love with it. What is this place and why haven't I been here before?

Same here, husband and I went for our honeymoon February 1993, it was a first visit for us both. We now try to go once a year. Thank goodness we went twice last year because our trip earlier this month got moved to next year, so no 2020 visit. I’m going through withdrawals.

The parade starts at 1:00? What kind of alternate reality is this? It seems like Disney day parades have always started at 3:00. Anyway, great video. I visited there as a kid during this time frame.

Thats what i was thinking, theres no way its in the same spot as now?! In this vid it looks as though it is just behind what is now Starbucks. Obviously there was no Sunset bvld then so access wouldn't have been possible, but surly they just moved the entrance when Sunset was built, and not the whole theatre?!
