- It’s dope that Hasbro gave us a Cable based on how he appears in Marvel Vs Capcom and he’s turned out great but he does have a couple of flaws. Still love it though!

They did a lot for awhile. My boys recently went hard into some Nerf. So naturally I picked up a bunch of them at thrift stores on the cheap. Got looking and “huh, I’m pretty I have this in 1/12 scale” haha

Not gonna lie Cable and Bishop are my personal favorite X-MEN time travelers because they do have very badass powers and very dope ass guns, I may not have this Cable figure but my friend might get him, Great review on Nathan Summers aka Cable.

this shoulda been a deluxe figure like they did with MvC Iron Man and gave it his Viper Beam gun with some cool beam/blast effects.
I definitely dig the bare arm look with a pouch belt around the arm

First off, you always give us a great review on figures like this one, and BAM! You did it again! Nice job, amigo! I'm still waiting for this one to arrive so I can put the left hind leg on Zabu! This is a great looking Cable figure. My favorite one so far, but I agree with you assessment. It certainly looks a bit Capcom-ish. The head sculpt is really nice. I wish that his belt pouches were painted brown. I think it would keep that yellow from overpowering things. Yellow can look very "toy-like" on action figures, so any time extra paint can be applied to things like those straps or those pouches is always gonna be a plus. I wish he did have the sculpted boots, but I can live with the painted-on look. Still, I'm looking forward to having this one in my collection. It certainly represents the character to me, and I dig him. I'm probably gonna use a brown Gundam marker pen in the grooves on his straps. I think that will add a lot to the detail. A little drybrushing might make those pistols pop more, so I think I'll try that.
I can’t wait to get this figure in hand, the headsculpt is so good it has me thinking how it would look as a custom Bruce Wayne or Slade Wilson or even Frank Castle.
I passed on pre-ordering this one because I really prefer the Liefeld inspired figure with the big shoulder pads and the more military style uniform, as opposed to the blue and yellow spandex look. The early 90's / New Mutants / X-Force Cable is the look I think of when I think of the character. So that older Cable figure is good for me. But this one looks pretty cool for what it is.

my first cable I ever got as a kid was this jumbo sized cable that you could put these discs into and you could switch on the lights and project pictures on the wall from the xmen animated show. I played with that thing all christmas day and weekend haha. I managed to get a super late preorder for this cable on hasbro pulse when they added more stock at like 2:00am one night, it just shipped so i'm stoked to finally get another cable.

I might be wrong but I remember the knee pads actually being part of the boot in mvc2. So if accuracy was the goal they should’ve attached them to the lower leg instead of the knee
You are right the boot goes all the way up to the knee, that part should be all yellow.
It’s always weird when they put art work on the box that doesn’t match the figure.
They should get a Psi-mitar weapon on one of these cables at some point. I would also like the most articulation you can get. That’s how it needs to work. It gets boring to say the same thing. As I’m sure it gets tiring to read my comments. Any figure out there should know that for the future. Fully articulated. There are so many toys out there at this point so every point of articulation should come baked in to any figure. Double knees. Double elbow. Neck head butterfly. Ankle rocker etc etc. shouldn’t even be a comment at this point.
The fact that his human arm has pins and his bionic arm is pinless is kind of comedy on the marvel team lol! I still like him but he seems to not want to come back in stock on bbts or pulse lol! Oh and I am not paying those eBay prices for him ✨

I might be a little bias here when it comes to my love for Cable, but for me, this is my favorite legend of the year along with Jack O Lantern.
You say the Marvel vs Capcom version but this uniform debuted in the comics long before that.

You could swap out the entire lower leg. You can still swap pinless parts by heating it, slicing just one side of the leg to the right or left of the disc on the lower leg and slotting another leg with a compatible peg hole. You could likely easily adjust the width of the replacement knee disc, if needed, with a dremel. And I find that it still holds the replacement piece very well once you let the plastic cool down. Even with one side of its peg technically cut.
Or you could just replace the boot at the ankle swivel if we have compatible slots... I will probably do that and paint the boot yellow. But I think I will also be removing the paint from just above the ankle swivel.

I wish they would have given him a metal hand instead of the blue glove. Agree with you on it should have been all pin less. Definitely will pickup for my X-Men shelf though
For what it is, I love it, it’s cable, it’s a no brainer pickup. But I’m definitely going to swap out the right arm with a Hercules and give him 2 pack Deadpool’s thigh pouches. No idea where to get a decent chonky gun, but I may give him a cobra viper rifle as a stand in.

they should have put those boot "bands" like the mezco one has on the calf above the swivel of the ML one if only just to make the design flow better

Now that I've been thinking about it for a few minutes, I think I would have preferred a bare, right arm on the figure.
I think this is based on Cable #15 from back in the 90's, the MvC look is based on it but with slight differences. The box are is from Cable 16 and he kept the sleeveless look after

If it was me I´ll put the lower leg piece all yellow like in the videogame because I think is very inspired in that look, and they nail it... mostly. Too bad they backtracked in another detail on the production release. Oh well. Nice review tho!

I see him as a bit bigger/muscular. I see him like a football player - bigger and taller. Revoltech seems closer to what I have in mind.
But the metal arm sculpt is good.

Yellow and blue team xmen legs could be a good leg swap. Also remove the yellow paint below the knee
I have poured at least a couple thousand dollars into my marvel legends collection alone and I do not have one completed build a figure. All the waves I did complete were ironically without a BAF
A lot to like here, but the lower legs just kill it for me. Great review though.
Yeah, the figure has some great stuff going for it on one side and then it’s half ass on the other side haha
@@UnparalleledUniverse 100%...seems like that's just the deal when it comes to Cable figures overall. Hoping for something that gets at least "close enough" to the ideal, similar to what we've gotten for Black Widow, the Lizard, or Scarlet Spider recently.
Hasbro has only done 2 modern Cables, not counting the early Dark Days Of Hasbro
If you don't mind putting in the work to mod the boots, I think giving him Thunder strike's boots would do this figure justice to make look him look more like his box art. Afterwords you can just color all his punches and stuff brown

5:58 They're supposed to be knee-high boots with the knee pads attached at the top. So they should've been designed like Thor's boots. 8:18 Could be because they're Nerf guns. Their designs are from the Nerf Vagabond and Nerf Barrel Break IX-2. It's NERF or nothin'. 12:52 '97 Bishop's gun is more like his MvC2 gun.

Thanks for showing that Revoltech head swap... the head is the only reason I'm getting this dull figure . The Revoltech Cable was just a game changer.
I don't think they did as well with Cable as they did with the retro She-Hulk.
I've wanted this Cable for MvC, but too many issues here for me. Outdated joints, weapons amiss, enormous feet, mixing pinless with pins. Great idea Hasbro, but not like this. Someday maybe Mafex, for now easy to miss.
