Thank you, i just got an LoZ meter because of these problems. I was not aware how to test with old meter. This is a game changer

I gotta get me some of those rubber gloves you got on. They look way thinner than the regular class 00’s.😂 😂

Appliance Technicians (the target audience) rarely use class 00's.

My pen isn’t picking anything up at the outlet but on the breaker picks up a signal do you know why that is??

If the pen picks up nothing, then you are either at neutral (which should read nothing with a pen), or at a loaded down or open L1 or L2. All of these scenarios would yield 0 or close to 0 volts w/r to earth ground, which gives no reading on a pen.

Is that plug considered upside down?

Most would consider it that, but many dryer outlets from my experience are oriented in that manner.

Thank you very much for the explanation. Do you find it easier/quicker to do the non Loz meter checks with a partially unplugged dryer instead of taking the readings at the dryer's terminal block?

You're welcome! I prefer to use LoZ mode for testing them because there are fewer steps and interpretations involved as compared to using a non-LoZ meter. If you let the symptom drive your diagnostics, however, the interpretations are fairly straight-forward.
