  • Correction on the rebuild kit THERE IS ONLY ONE SIZE BORE therefore only one kit (I was given the wrong info from the parts supplier as he thought I was talking about the wheel cylinders). The end cap of the spring I showed incorrectly in the vid, it goes the opposite way, I installed it correctly. I did not hone out the master cylinder and that may have made a difference in my bench leak test. The snap ring on the old one is difficult to managed whereas the snap ring on the new one is easy...

I bought it in '91 from a neighbor, it's been passed on to my late father and then my brother took it over, then I bought it from him after him spending quite some money on it. I'm not mechanically inclined at all and I'm living off a fixed-income so every little bit helps to learn how to do this stuff and fixed what I have. Here it is 2020 in the middle of the plandemic and you have helped me, thank you

Hey, good for you for rebuilding. I do it too. It's zen but, that's a philosophical conversation. Let me give you few pointers.
    1. If you had ever had a new rubber cup, (not bushing) in your hand you'd know yours are collapsed from years sitting in the bore. Brake fluid is going to go around those. When I asked dad what a good one looks like he said "an open umbrella."
    2. Never lube any internal brake parts with anything but dot 3 brake fluid. You will damage the cups with solvents, even WD40.
    3. The thing in the end of the master cyl. is the check valve. You were right not to mess with it.

Thank you. Learned more reading your comment than I did watching this video.

1966 C10 stumbled across you vid, much appreciated. I believe the year range was the same. I was thinking about rebuilding the power steering pump but I need to do the "mc" too it's leaking. Much appreciated.

That is a rubber seat at the bottom of the M/C and it is removeable. It even comes in the rebuild kits.

It's a real shame that people don't think this way anymore. It's all about savig money or time. And if you wanted to do anything to your modern car you couldn't because the computer rubbish.

Agreed. This is an upgrade in my opinion from my previous brand new truck. Computer driven end results are great but come at a price both monitary and dependence. I can work on this truck and for a fraction of the price
