It does. Although I really liked in pre-flashpoint when it was given by Supes to Livewire, and she was going to try at being a hero (unfortunately we never really got to see that thanks to the New 52 just months away)
For real. I was in high school at the time and loved both the costume and the idea of Superman having to learn his powers again. As a 41-year-old adult, I still love this suit and proudly display both the blue and red action figures in my home.
I think the most sucessful one was probably Aquaman, his resdesign ended up holding as much value as his classic one and even influenced the character's looks going forwards, and what he looked like in adaptiations.
"If this costume belonged to any character other than Superman, I'd kinda dig it" is basically what I think about the Superman Blue look...which Is why I think it was such a cool idea that he gave the suit to Livewire when she fully stopped being a bad guy and joined the Supermen of America. Unfortunately that story was like the last thing that happened before the New 52, so none of it ever came up again.
Well, for a split second I was under the impression you were going to feature Ben Reilly's blue Spider-Man costume, which was also part of the good 90s costumes. And it's one of my favorite ones ever. Moreover, 90s Namor have had some strong Evil Ernie vibes, I wouldn't know why. And finally! I hope at some point we would receive a proper early 90s Superman costume figure. Mullet for Kal-El is a classic.
Angry one-armed Aquaman on the cover instantly makes me want to read about this badass. Apparently, this is what guided most of the redesigns. If you abstract from the characters, their backstories and personalities, almost all the costumes look very good (except CA)
I actually got the Superman Blue debut issue, and Ron Frenz was at my local comic shop doing autographs that day. I still have that signed copy in extremely nice condition to this day. Regardless of the legacy of it, this was generated a pretty big buzz at the time.
Exactly what I've always said about Superman Blue... If it was a new character in that suit, it would have been iconic. But you don't tug on Superman's cape.
I actually liked a lot of the AoA X-Men designs. Thought Cyclops, Wolverine & "Pirate" Colossus was cool looking. AoA Magneto might be my favorite design of the character.
I REALLY liked Cyclops and Wolverine suits, they looked like bad%%%%% !!!! LOL. 90s comics ruled !!! That decade gave us Image Comics,Milestone Media,Valiant,etc,etc,..Death of Superman,Batman's back is broken,Rob Liefeld said these things in an interview, saying they/Image made DC do these things to compete against them. And,it's rather ironic DC was going thru bankruptcy when they paid Jim Lee and Liefeld $ 3 million dollars ( each,I could be wrong tho-LOL ) to take over certain titles to boost their sales.
If the black leather bra instead covered her whole waist and chest the look would have been incredible. I think the bra by itself is a little to stripper-y
Electric Superman was an attempt by DC to screw the families of Siegel and Schuster out of royalties. Once the case was settled, they went back to his normal look. And speaking of Knightfall, how could you not put AzBat's hideous power suit on this list?
You know… and I never thought I’d say this… but you actually know a great deal and I think you’re genuine. You might be the first TH-camr who may, truly, know exactly what they’re talking about. Almost everyone else, not all but the vast majority, clearly just Google whatever it is they want to talk about. I’m convinced you don’t do that. Maybe I’m wrong and I’ve been completely tricked here, but I’m 99.9% certain that you’re legitimate. I heard you say connoisseur and was thinking “Here we go again”, but nope… Your statement is valid. Congratulations. Sincerely. Edit: Just wanted to say, firstly, it’s a bit weird that Jim Lee actually went back to Marvel from Image. I always thought that. That heroes reborn Iron Man design was close. A few things were a little off, as you say, like the exhausts. I think the sinewy cables were cool. That would be an interesting thing to carry over to some designs, I think. Other than that, yeah. It looked as though it had been left out in the sun too long. I agree.
Bro, Electric Blue Superman is absolutely my favorite Supes of all time! Great story, great costume! Supes is God level over powered so it was great to see him struggling with day to day new challenges, love that story! 😎👍
I'm gonna defend the Booster Gold power armor. In a way, it makes sense for it to be as bulky as it was, since his original suit's tech probably wouldn't be made for another few centuries. Dude had to downgrade to current tech.
It’s actually brought up in the story that the armor is clunky and cumbersome because it was basically thrown together by Beetle. So yeah, it has a legit excuse for looking like crap.
I love azrael's Batman armor. Speaking of... As soon as you mentioned Artemis I thought oh hey wonder woman gets a blonde mentally unstable ultraviolent replacement. It's Wonder Woman Knightfall.
I disagree about Wonder Woman. That is my 2nd favourite costume after the Amalgam one. Previous costumes (aside. From George Perez's skirt combo) looked like she was wearing 'granny nickers/panties' or even worse adult diapers 😂
As someone who doesn't worship superman ... The blue costume looks awesome, and let's be honest superman's costume is iconic because its the first but it's not the best costume
I used the opening drum sample for an Audio Engineering class at my college. I sped it up though to make a Drum and bass beat. Dude seems to make his own music for his vids. RESPECT.
War Machine from ‘95 is hands down one of the worst redesigns ever. The so-called alien ‘Warwear’’was awful. Ghost Rider and Daredevil also had awful 90’s redesigns.
All right, so..... all the puns were really good. 😂😂 I actually like the Iron Man armor more than a lot of those he's worn in the main universe, but yeah, Booster's and Cap's are best left as examples of what *not* to do. And to be fair to Fabio I've never heard of any comics character killing a goose with their freakin' face. Rock on, Fabio. Rock on.
There is Marvel Legends figure of Heroes Reborn Iron Man figure form Ares BAF wave buts it’s pretty dated, big chance we might get new one since Hasbro just released Heroes Return Armor.
I'm shocked you didn't include Doctor Fate, melting down the helmet into ankh-shaped throwing knives made for easily the worst redesign I have ever seen
You mentioned a different character using the "Electric Blue" costume; Well I can't recall the issue number but supervillain LiveWire wore that outfit when she became a hero in the comics
I think Storm and Colossus had good AoA designs. And I feel the same as you do about Electric Blue Superman, solid on its own, but weird for Clark. It was a neat call back to have Livewire wear it. Think you'll do this for other decades? 2000's, 80's, 70's, 2010's. There's a lot of strong contenders for the best or worse. Like Symbiote Spider-Man being an all-time Classic, but Wolverine's Fang costume being weird, IMO.
Namor and Aquaman’s redesign where pretty good I feel Aquamans is iconic even being used as the base in the DCAU. I get what you mean with age of apocalypse in comparison to the regular verse but my man your forgetting Sunfire a design so cool they made it his actual design for awhile
It hurts to see Superman Blue on this list cause that is one of my favorite Superman redesigns (I actually prefer it over the Black/Recovery Suit). But this has me wondering where you place Superman's suit from "Superman/Doomsday: Hunter Prey"? Cause that has to be one of the most 90's suits to have every 90's.
The promethian armor is dope as shit dawg what are you talking about, half of these takes are awful 😭. The Aquaman look is one of the greatest ones in the characters history
Wow I'm not into superhero comics but... I'm going to subscribe. TH-cam recommended me this for some reason and I really like it! I like the topic, I like your humor, I like how you talk (cool accent)... so yeah thanks! Cool video!
I had no clue about that WW storyline. I’m super interested! Glad it was featured on this video, and that this video gives a brief description of the comics the designs come from
I love the Booster Gold armor because I think it's fun that Beetle tried to make it look cool and marketable. It's a ~trendy modern design~ made by a guy who still wears his original Ditko-designed costume, and that's kinda great.
I agree with pretty much everything you’ve listed here … EXCEPT for Namor and Aquaman. Those were some pretty dynamic looks and generated a ton of excitement back in the day. The Age of Apocalypse looks were not that great but not that bad either. (Personally, I really liked the alternate costumes for Shadowcat, Quicksilver, Storm, and Wolverine.)
Hard disagree this time. Aquaman 90s suit is not BAD. It's pure gold. Its relevant and on brand. Davids run It's the last time the character actually had balls to grow.
I like many of the designs here tbh, especially the wasp one. But yeah, they would've worked better as new characters. I like some of the others for the sheer over-the-topness of them. Harpoon aquaman is straight up badass though. I love it.
Out of the heroes reborn heores designs i do kinda fuck with the heroes reborn FF. Like the pouches on the belt i kinda like as a sorts way to make them more like explorers rather than superheroes. Also the way Jim draws Ben is just so big and bulky and strong looking
I loved the Fabio jokes, especially since I still ride that coaster on a regular basis. Haven't seen a goose nar Apollo's Chariot in years though. Guess they learned.
Good job. The worst looking ironic man armor, just too crude but not in a good way. The superman blue was good for its simplicity. Just goes me a silver age retro appeal .like the thor look except for the ' half shirt. And the cap look was good but unfinished ❤😂
I looked up the Fabio thing. It's actually false;( They just said that as a pr thing. But really a goose flew into a camera and broke it sending a piece into his face.
I think a lot of them were basically gimmicks to get people to buy comics again, especially the Superman one. Remember "Death of Superman" and how THAT made front page news or any character coming out as gay. Wonder Woman's "biker" look, didn't the comics always kind of a bondage/S&M/femdom undertone to them, so THAT kind of made sense.
This is a dumb topic on account of people from different age groups grew up and still like different things, so if you do not like it then fine but leave people alone, remember a opinion can not be wrong. Bet you got some clicks that you were looking for, right?
Iron Cap and his nose guard made no sense, what was the point of that his face was still largely exposed. Avengers cartoons did Cap in Iron man type armor far better
Electric Blue Supes looks pretty decent until you pan up to his head. Any costume that features a "helmet" with a fully exposed face AND fully exposed hair just looks dumb. You're left with weird vestigial tumorous panels hugging the sides of his head. Like what even is going on. Gross.

Honestly, if Sue's boob window costume didn't have that "4"-hole, it'd be pretty cool looking. A bit racy for her, but nothing too awful, if that "she's trying to get some sexual attention from her man" plotline had to happen. That being said, how ass-backwards is it that Sue dropped a few yards of clothing, only for NAMOR of all people to COVER UP??? Now that's just ridiculously out of character. I can't believe I'm having to come to a Panels to Pixels video to defend Superman's electric blue suit... that costume *rules.*
Channel crossover 😂😂
It does. Although I really liked in pre-flashpoint when it was given by Supes to Livewire, and she was going to try at being a hero (unfortunately we never really got to see that thanks to the New 52 just months away)
The costume, yes. The powers, no.
For real. I was in high school at the time and loved both the costume and the idea of Superman having to learn his powers again.
As a 41-year-old adult, I still love this suit and proudly display both the blue and red action figures in my home.
Correct, Owen.
"...the SEA-atle style" *groan*
"... Atlantis Morisette" *chuckle*
"... Carp Codbain..." *spits milk out of nose laugh*
I think the most sucessful one was probably Aquaman, his resdesign ended up holding as much value as his classic one and even influenced the character's looks going forwards, and what he looked like in adaptiations.

Unfortunately that story was like the last thing that happened before the New 52, so none of it ever came up again.
"It's creepy, it's gross! Almost in a way that appeals to me!" That was hilarious!
I like the Aquaman one. It was what they used for the Justice league cartoon
No, he was straight up shirtless there. Which fit his vibe there as a hardened warrior with a kingdom to protect.
Well, for a split second I was under the impression you were going to feature Ben Reilly's blue Spider-Man costume, which was also part of the good 90s costumes. And it's one of my favorite ones ever.

Yeah, they wasted what could've been new characters designs - specially Superman!
#1. HOOK AQUAMAN RULED!
#2. Biker Wonder Woman could've been cool OCCASIONALLY on certain Missions...I dug it.
The biker look is probably the part of her wardrobe meant for the embassy gym.❤
I actually got the Superman Blue debut issue, and Ron Frenz was at my local comic shop doing autographs that day. I still have that signed copy in extremely nice condition to this day. Regardless of the legacy of it, this was generated a pretty big buzz at the time.
That 'Ghost Rider' #1 might have my favorite '90s cover. Iconic image.
90s Aquman is the best look he ever had! There is a reason the TAS universe stuck to it after just 1 Superman ep with the classic look.
Exactly what I've always said about Superman Blue... If it was a new character in that suit, it would have been iconic. But you don't tug on Superman's cape.
More 90's comic videos pls!!
Maybe a list of some of the best 90's comic series that you could find in a dollar bin?
I actually liked a lot of the AoA X-Men designs. Thought Cyclops, Wolverine & "Pirate" Colossus was cool looking. AoA Magneto might be my favorite design of the character.
Yeah they were hit or miss on a lot of them, but some of those designs are certified classic looks
I REALLY liked Cyclops and Wolverine suits, they looked like bad%%%%% !!!! LOL. 90s comics ruled !!! I still dig Hair Metal Thor/Croptop Thor.
It's not as iconic as his classic design but it is positively METAL and I can't not love it for that.
I really like the Biker Wondie look, but then again, I'm a biker and a low-key edgelord
He included AzBat's in the Top 10 90's... And yet, Aquaman was included in the worst...
Well, that's his taste, I guess.
I heard you say connoisseur and was thinking “Here we go again”, but nope…

Aquaman with the hook hand is iconic

me too
ironmans Prometheus armor looks badass , you buggin
I disagree about Wonder Woman.
That is my 2nd favourite costume after the Amalgam one.
Previous costumes (aside. From George Perez's skirt combo) looked like she was wearing 'granny nickers/panties' or even worse adult diapers 😂
Harpoon Aquaman is BEST Aquaman hands down
Aquaman with the hook is one of his coolest designs EVER.
This feels like some of these are not bad, just not as good as the original.
It's more properly called a "peek-a-boo" rather than a "boob window."
More like a peek a boob
Peek-a-boob
PowerGirl. NOW she had a boob window!
RESPECT.
Jae Lee's Namor is my favorite from this list
Mine as well
I admit that I'm not a big fan of this version of Pirate Aquaman, but I understand the importance.
War Machine from ‘95 is hands down one of the worst redesigns ever. The so-called alien ‘Warwear’’was awful. Ghost Rider and Daredevil also had awful 90’s redesigns.

Another great video as always. But you know what the kids really love? Pouches! Lots and lots of pouches. And weird guns.
Age of Apocalypse suits rule.
I think Storm and Colossus had good AoA designs. And I feel the same as you do about Electric Blue Superman, solid on its own, but weird for Clark. It was a neat call back to have Livewire wear it.

Thor (minus the crop top), Iron Man, Invisible Woman and especially the Age of Apocalypse costumes were awesome.
Namor and Aquaman’s redesign where pretty good I feel Aquamans is iconic even being used as the base in the DCAU.
I get what you mean with age of apocalypse in comparison to the regular verse but my man your forgetting Sunfire a design so cool they made it his actual design for awhile
As a 90s kid who grew with that era of comics, i feel personally attacked.
I love the savage Namor look
It hurts to see Superman Blue on this list cause that is one of my favorite Superman redesigns (I actually prefer it over the Black/Recovery Suit). But this has me wondering where you place Superman's suit from "Superman/Doomsday: Hunter Prey"? Cause that has to be one of the most 90's suits to have every 90's.
Idk about anyone else, but all of the age of apocalypse outfits rock. I love the designs of those.
I appreciate your candor in admitting that you don't hate these.
Never seen electric blue Superman before, but I love it! lol
Namor was so bad but I gotta be honest, to this day that is my favorite Aquaman look 😅
I have to admit but I kinda dig both that Iron Man armor and the blue Superman. I dunno...I guess I have no taste.
The promethian armor is dope as shit dawg what are you talking about, half of these takes are awful 😭. The Aquaman look is one of the greatest ones in the characters history
ABSOLUTELY DISAGREED on that incredible Thor design!
Oh yeah and I LOVE that Jae Lee Namor run. The art on that run goes so absolutely crazy hard. Image tried so hard to poach him and you can see why.
Wow I'm not into superhero comics but... I'm going to subscribe. TH-cam recommended me this for some reason and I really like it!
I like the topic, I like your humor, I like how you talk (cool accent)... so yeah thanks! Cool video!

Lovely video, as always
I only disagree with Invisible Woman!!😉😍😍🤣
Dude, im sorry but that iron man suit is straight fire🔥
I think Aquaman's redesign is neat :)
Superman Blue certainly did.
Kirby's Thor costume "is based in traditional Norse depictions" - LOL ... No.
I think it was mandatory for every superhero in the 90s to have boxing headgear on 😂
12:27 why does Wonder Woman look like Blaze from Streets of Rage?
Love your videos, man.
Can't believe you talked shit about my favorite Wonder Woman costume. I thought I could trust you.
Ehh, Superman's blue suit is amazing lol
This is a dumb topic on account of people from different age groups grew up and still like different things, so if you do not like it then fine but leave people alone, remember a opinion can not be wrong. Bet you got some clicks that you were looking for, right?
i actually love the biker wonder woman
AWESOME VIDEO AND BACK DROP 👌
Yeah, Sue, I don't think it's your previous jumpsuit that's the outdated one...
Superman Red/Blue is the only one I disagree with BUT you're point with the Blue VS the classic look. I love/loved it knowing it was temporary.
I never thought you'd make a sequel to the original video!
You forgot the horrific Daredevil armored costume .
Iron Cap and his nose guard made no sense, what was the point of that his face was still largely exposed. Avengers cartoons did Cap in Iron man type armor far better
Yeah but what if I like it anyway?
Heeeeey... Loved all the Age of Apocalypse uni redesigns! Hehehe
Thanks for the video
AoA Wolverine isn’t even the worst Wolverine. What about feral, no nose, bandana Wolverine?
I actually really love aquamans redesign, if a little extreme, I think it is fitting. I think it's just bc of the animated justice league tho
Electric Blue Supes looks pretty decent until you pan up to his head. Any costume that features a "helmet" with a fully exposed face AND fully exposed hair just looks dumb. You're left with weird vestigial tumorous panels hugging the sides of his head. Like what even is going on. Gross.
My bro is back again!
Electric Supes was great, both Red and Blue!
More to complain about with Deodato in the 2020s unfortunately
Deodato has been experimenting with wierd panel layouts and his art on The Flash last year suffered for it since it was difficult to register anything on the page, I like his covers, but I honestly Despise his interior work on The Flash
Also, more on video topic, Superman Blue was an Awesome temporary look
90's Daredevil and Ghost Rider should be somewhere on this list also
Nah that Aquaman outfit rips. Not as iconic as his normal attire. But it still rips.
I gotta say that I am with you right now, especially with cap's robotic suit.
He's one of the few characters in comics who dresses like a thot not because of any lame plot reason like "needs to photosynthesize solar energy," but because he just likes looking like a manwhore (I mean this in a positive way; I respect the grindset)
Cap should have just worn the Iron Patriot armor😃
The Sue Storm 90’s costume is so funny to me. Cuz in the comic she wears it as like an empowering moment, but the comic is written by a bunch of men. 🙃
