That whole glam rock thing was to promote androgyny, bisexuality and such. It's all about destroying the family unit. The Germans and Japanese would've taken over the world had they not been sabotaged throughout history. Who doesn't like porn, divorce, welfare, sex, drugs and rocknroll? But if you live long enough you realize it's the devil trying to destroy you. I was never a religious fanatic, but my eyes were opened after getting divorce raped.

"I'll never forget watching Johnny Thunders on that program on BBC2, the Whistle Test. Johnny Thunders and his crew - the Dolls - played two numbers. I remember all the musicians in Newport and all the students in the Union bar watching it on the television there, and it just wiped everybody out: the attitude, the clothes, it was different from all this earnest musician-worshipping nonsense that had come in with progressive rock. When the Dolls played that British TV show, that just gave us legs and arms, and the spirit to really get into it".

Sylvain Sylvain graced our studio in the late 2000s, back when we were still embracing the warmth of 24-track tape. As we embarked on the intricate process of tracking the band he was producing, engaging in precise punch-ins and punch-outs, something remarkable happened. Sylvain was overcome with emotion. Tears welled up in his eyes as the "vintage" tape technology we clung to brought forth a rush of cherished memories he had whilst recording with The Dolls.

It all begins with The Kinks, The Who, The Stones etc.. British Invasion bands of the 60s. Riff-rock, progressive rock. The Troggs, The Deviants etc.. The Stones also first initiated the glam rock scene. Slade, Bowie, T. Rex, The Sweet, Roxy Music. Mott the Hoople. Glam rock has its roots in UK. Punk was also directly influenced by glam rock, and the pub rock scene. UK. All these elements combined. To mention, hard rock, heavy metal, first initiated by UK artists, late 60s, early 70s. Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Sabbath etc.. Prior, Cream, psychedelic rock, hard rock. The Yardbirds, psychedelic rock, progressive rock. Not forgetting, even The Beatles had some influence, whether directly, or indirectly. Or, "anti" the Beatles. Sure, New York Dolls were part of the scene, glam rock, and also a huge influence, as strange as that may seem. Or, at least, for some.

I still think this is where Paul Stanley got the name KISS from. Gene, Paul, Peter and Ace were all big fans of the New York Dolls. The failed at trying to copy the Dolls look before dropping it for the Gothic look.

    • @charliebe28

      Malichi Seven:
~ Also, I still have a circa January 1974 issue of Circus Magazine (which was a music "fan magazine" from that era) that has an article which says that KISS's face make-up was [paraphrasing] "a cross between Japanese Kabuki theater make-up, and the _CHARACTERS FROM THE WIZARD OF OZ"._ (Gene = the Scarecrow - , Ace = the Tin Woodsman - , Peter = the Cowardly Lion - , and Paul = Toto. You my know that "The Wizard of Oz" was a major "cult following" movie for "stoners" from the early-1970s.) _BUT,_ (I would hypothesize) KISS's semi-literate middle-school aged fan-base couldn't make any better interpretation of those make-up creations other than to concoct that whole "Demon, Starman, Spaceman, Cat"" crap - so, since "the customer is always CORRECT", the band "just went with" the ignorant interpretations of their fan-base - , and have been maintaining that "revised history" for the past 45 years.
~ Finally, I _also_ happen to still have another issue of Circus Magazine that actually has an advertisement on its back cover, which solicited inquiries to the band's "Rock Steady" management company, for concert appearances by the band. ... and all of the members of KISS have their names _in JAPANESE_ accompanying their photos. You have to understand that during the early-to-mid 1970s, Japan was _THE_ place for Rock bands to tour, because the high cost-of-living there meant they could charge sky-high ticket prices, and make a hefty profit from those tours. _THAT_ reality helps explain their choice of the culturally-patronizing "Kabuki theater make-up".

When I say I'm in love you best believe
    I'm in love, L U V
I always saw you, just before the dawn
When all the other kids, were just draggin' along
I couldn't believe the way it seemed to be
Rememberin' the things, you used to say to me
I bet you know I can't be wastin' time
'Cause I gotta have my fun, I gotta get some fun
I got to keep on movin', can't stop till it's all done
    And never done
Well, listen when I tell ya, you got no time for fix
'Cause I just gotta make it, can't afford to miss
And there's one reason, I'm tellin' you this
I feels bad and I'm looking for a kiss
Why won'tcha tell me, why those kids are moving so slow?
Is it that they just don't have a place to go
When the day starts breakin', the sun is gonna shine
It's hard to sleep, if I been cryin'
Then all the old ladies they are on their way to the church
You goin' to the church? I bet here I'll be a golden boy
Lookin' for the thing that I search, I keep on searchin'
Well, listen when I tell ya, you got no time for fix
'Cause I just gotta make it, can't afford to miss
If there's one reason, I'm tellin' you this
I feels bad, bad, bad and I'm looking for a kiss
Well I'm looking for a real hot kiss, come on kiss me
You think it's bad, but you know it's true
So why won't you just let me live, baby
When I'm lookin' for a kiss
When everyone goes to your house, they shoot up in your room
Most of them are beautiful, but so obsessed with gloom
I ain't gonna be here, when they all get home
They're always lookin' at me, they won't leave me alone
I didn't come here, lookin' for no fix, I know
I been houndin' all streets all night long late
Baby just looking for a kiss
    I need a fixin' a kiss, I need a fixin' a kiss
    I need a fixin' a kiss, I've been looking for a kiss
I didn't come here, lookin' for no fix, I know
I been haulin' booty, all night long
Baby just looking for a kiss
