Ed King does not get the recognition he deserved. It was his crushing bass lines, song writing, and guitar parts on the first album that made it great.
This band was told they have 5 more minutes to finish their show in Pittsburgh, PA ...it was about 10 minutes before midnight and they played FREEBIRD for 25 minutes...tore it up. This was a show that had the OUTLAWS warmup CHARLIE DANIELS then LYNYRD SKYNYRD. What a night!
I liked them best during this period. The first 3 albums with Ed King are my favorite and always will be. This version of Freebird is a perfect example.
outreach of the ogwt though - look at the credits
Came to say goodbye Gary Rossington & thanks for the music. RIP
Allan Collins shredding the lead flawlessly should be considered among the greatest guitarists. RIP Allan

One of my favourite songs of all time. I just cannot believe the tragedy around this band. From plane crash and onwards. But, their music lives on.
