    Sinn Fein's Michelle O'Neill told Sky News the current government had "played fast and loose" with the Good Friday Agreement.

      NI has a uniquely privileged place; unfettered trade access to both EU and UK. Why would they join the Irish Republic and give that up? Scotland isn’t going anywhere; so the spiteful opportunism to break the UK up in the wake of Brexit has failed. Hilarious 😆

    the DUP is to blame for this,they backed brexit, they thought the brexit would get them a wall between Ireland and NI, but to save the good friday agreements, that border now has been put between NI and GB, THX DUP !!

      Actually Brussels started this fire by massively and repeatedly moving the goalposts.
      Eg; 1970s + 1970s - "OF COURSE we will never get rid of the internal borders in the Common Market".
      "OF COURSE we will never take more than a tiny fraction of sovereignty off the national parliaments"
      [Merkel on its own was able to flood the EU with a tsunami of enemies and rapists]

    The brexit Paradox is that any govt capable of delivering brexit wouldn't. The brexit reality is that voters shrewd enough to decode brexit would've rejected it. Result - an inept/venal govt conned a majority of gullible/deluded electors. The brexit tragedy is that it will take years to recover from this self-inflicted wound

      One was very much right to do. First minister investigated for criminality wouldn't step aside while it took place.

As for individual politicians then there should be a process where when investigated for any act of criminality should be stood down pending investigation. It happens in most walks of life. Not that I'm a fan of the tories, what I think of them is unprintable for many reasons but I would like to see both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland move on from the past.

    The problem was it wasn't properly thought out, what happens if different parts of the UK voted differently? Thats exactly what we got with Northern Ireland and Scotland voting Stay and England and Wales voting to Leave. Brexit was always going to be difficult because the EU as well as our own government was going to make it as difficult as possible to fully leave.

      How about England leaves what's left of the Union? The Celtic Nations will be fine without being drained of our resources, without being kept in a state of constant poverty, and actually being part of the global community, rather than being chained to England and it's quest for isolated solitude, and a diet of flags and exceptionalism. The Celtic Nations can't prop up England any longer, and can't afford the damage we're subjected to. England has made the UK a running joke on the global stage, and it's dragging the Celtic Nations down with it.

    The DUP were a strong voice in the Brexit means Brexit. Which as we know means a British exit. It was never called a UKExit.       Sinn Féin MPs are elected on an abstentions platform. They represent their constituents and are entitled to express those views publicly. May's deal was pointless: it was doomed to fail, and the people of Northern Ireland didn't want Brexit in any form.

      Sinn Fein don't take their seats because the Parliament at Westminster dictates that they must first swear an oath to a foreign King. They are still fairly elected constituency MPs, and are perfectly entitled to complain.
