This one hits close to home. It pains us that yet again, we have another absolute failure from our home state's child protective services (DHHS) to share with you. It's as if Maine never learns from the past and continues to allow children to die in situations that were completely preventable.

100% Maine DHS is useless. Right now in my town there's a couple who are addicted to everything under the sun (meth, fentanyl, coke,I could go on & on) They steal anything not nailed down, have even been caught on video stealing & have even been caught smoking meth in their vehicle with their small child in the backseat! To top it all off she's pregnant. Her poor daughter looks so dirty & unkempt, a stark contrast from how she looked a year ago. Her hairs been all cut off as well. Her mother had her out at the local Walmart running around the parking lot playing at 11pm the other night. People have been begging DHS to do something & they flat out said "until something happens" to the little girl, they won't do anything.

No obituary… The only people who spoke up for the tiny little girl were unrelated to her and unknown by her. And yet, they were among the so very few who had come to love her either directly or indirectly. She did not deserve an obituary in the newspaper… What she deserved was an article about her graduating from kindergarten in the newspaper, her name to be printed with others on the honor roll in the newspaper, photographs of her at homecoming in the newspaper, the announcement of her graduation from college in the newspaper…anything but an obituary in the newspaper printed before she’d even celebrated her fourth Christmas. What she deserved was to make snow angels in the winter snow, dance in the spring rain, play in the summer sunshine, and giggle jumping into piles of autumn leaves. Those who tried to help before her passing, those who’ve come together to remember her, and those who continue to make sure that others do not meet the same heart wrenching fate as her are each and every one trying to make sure that other children are getting what they deserve… Love, safety, warmth, and happiness. Never another unprinted obituary.

Honestly, as disturbing as this sounds, sometimes I do wonder if the CPS system genuinely prioritizes the removal + placement of more, uh, “adoptable” kids: that is fresh new babies and young kids who have no serious trauma history, attachment issues, etc. Otherwise, it makes no sense how CPS/DCFS are sooo dead wrong, so often, returning “damaged” kids to dangerous environments, while swooping in to “save” well loved kids from perfectly adequate homes.

    • @Andreamom001
      @Andreamom001 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +30

The system is overburdened and underfunded and poorly run. Some people get into the job wanting to help and then get overwhelmed. Punish them for failure and we will have no child welfare system at all. No one will take the job for fear of a mistake ruining their lives.
I don’t know what the solution is…mandatory parenting classes/screening for all pregnant women? More support for struggling people? Maybe volunteer boards that oversee CPS/DHS and make recommendations? Something like we have for air travel…investigations are done and recommendations made without repercussions for the people making the mistakes…which frees them to honestly explain what happened so steps can be taken to prevent it in the future…

Maine CPS is a joke... they have zero care in the world for the children and all of the care for getting paid. They forced my mother to send my siblings and I to my biological father's apartment where we were illegally entrapped and not allowed to contact our mother or any other family, all while he was texting my mother threatening to kill us with the gun he had clearly displayed on the TV stand in the living room. They threatened my mother with prison because she refused to send us out of fear we would never come home. He has antisocial personality disorder, which is not recognized by the court system, which allowed him to abuse us for YEARS before finally signing over parental rights when he thought he would have to actually pay all of his thousands of dollars in back child support. We had a PFA against him for EIGHT YEARS yet that still wasn't enough. The CPS in this state has put more children in danger than protecting them. It is absolutely disgusting, and, no, they haven't learned a damn thing.

while i agree with 99% of your statement and I'm not aiming to take away from the horror of this case (it actually makes me physically sick), But i can assure you that "no child falls that much" is a over generalized and inaccurate statement. When you have some time please look up Dyspraxia, it messes around with your balance and co-ordination and a child and even adult with dyspraxia is very very accident prone (and that's just one disability that does it.) THAT dosn't mean it shouldn't be checked out though because it absolutely should!
That all said, the grand dad should be getting some prison time all the same, as, as you say there is no way deep down he didn't know something was wrong and at the very minimum is guilty of a form of negligence known as being held complicit, that ended in the horrible death of a young child that could have been avoided.

This one hit close to home. When I got divorced my kids went to live with their dad as he had a better support system and a job with better hours. Everything was fine and I saw the kids on my days off, then he got involved with his future wife, they moved in together and away from his support system. Our two oldest seemed to be fine but unhappy. It was the youngest, who wasn't in school yet that started showing up with weird injuries and marks, which when questioned I was told happened when he "fell down". I asked my two oldest and they told me it always happened when their brother was alone with their stepmom. I started taking pictures and making a log of all the injuries. I warned my ex what I was doing and informed him that if things got worse I was calling child services and going to seek custody of all the kids. My son suddenly got less clumsy but then one week he came over with a bad head wound from "falling in the parking lot" and when I was helping him take his shoes off he had random scores of cuts all over the sides of his feet. all of different ages. I immediately called my ex and told him that was it and texted him photos of our son's feet, he made up multiple excuses on how they happened, like new shoes or the cat but none of them could be true. I took my son to the hospital to get his head checked and to make note of his foot injuries, when the social worker showed up I gave them the logs with all the photos. I thought that would be enough but the only thing that ever happened was my youngest went into day care, he would be dropped off and picked up by my ex. The injuries stopped and my son has since grown into a good young man with a good job. The truly sad thing though is my ex went on to have three daughters with this woman and despite her being a stay at home mom, all the kids went into full time daycare almost like clock work when they hit the same age as my son had been. When I asked my oldest about it he simply responded, "Well mom, not everyone has someone like you looking out for them and I can only keep them safe when I'm not in school." It made me sad and a bit angry but there was little I could do about it since I had never seen injuries on the girls. I really hate it when I hear stories of kids being abused by people smart enough to hide it and partners dumb enough to buy the excuses. I feel sorry for the grandfather here, he clearly loved his little girl but didn't know what to do to help her. I feel that my son could have ended up a victim like this if I hadn't done what I did. I grew up with half my adult family members working for some sort of child services and had heard all the horror stories from a young age. I wish I could have done more but my son turned out okay and I am thankful for that much, so many times they don't. Sorry about the long story but like I said, this hit close to home. Thank you all and I hope you have a blessed day.

When my kids were young I remember meeting a woman with 3 kids at the park. She told me was a single mom and that she wasn't employed. I can understand wanting to be home with the kids. Sometimes it's not worth it to work, spending all that money on a babysitter. At least until the kids are in school full time.
What I didn't understand was when she told me that her kids went to daycare fulltime, even though she's not working. It wasn't until much later when I became a more experienced parent that I understood why those kids were in daycare. Well worth the cost considering that it was probably the only chance that those kids had for breaking that cycle. It sounds like you did a great job with your kids and held your ex accountable. Too many people don't do that and the abuse continues.

The 3 little boys that lived across from me were finally removed 5 mos ago. I have been reporting to CPS and police for years. These parents had a 12 yrcold son removed 4 yrs ago and were not allowed to have any further contact with him and he was placed with his older brother. Be tween the oldest and the younger ones she had 2 more boys that she lost to their fathers. I know it's confusing but the father to the oldest won custody of him and then when he was 7 he allowed her to come back after her losing 2 other children to their fathers. She then had the 3 younger ones at home. She never went to the doctor and the boys had no birth certificates and had never been to the doctor. They were 7,6 and 5 when they were removed for abuse and their parents are not allowed to have contact with them. I just pray she doesn't get pregnant again. The father works out of town and only comes home every other weekend. I will never understand how CPS could take the oldest and leave the 3 little ones. They didn't go to school and never left the yard. They were not allowed outside until the dad came home. The mother has severe mental issues and will not take her medicine. God bless the little ones.

I watch this channel just about every day. The stories always sadden me so much, but I feel like these little voices need to be heard. So I listen. This one was so different though. I don't know why. It just was. Broke my heart. Anyone who has ever had a parent (or as in this case, a grandparent) who beats on them relentlessly, with absolutely no explanation of why, knows exactly how this little girl felt. I am one of those. I was the kid who basically tiptoed around, trying to not make noise, not be seen, not rock the boat even a tiny bit. I smiled when I felt like screaming. But thank God, I made it out. People always comment that I'm "bubbly" and "happy" and now, many years down the road, I am! But the memories never leave an abuse victim's mind. They come at you sometimes when you least expect it, and hit with the force of a two-ton wrecking ball. There are days when the subject (me) being hit by that wrecking ball feels no more sturdy than a haystack, blown apart and taken by the wind as that wrecking ball memory sings through the air. DCF was never involved in my story. The adult responsible knew how to hide bruises. She knew to threaten, that not one word about it was to be shared--or ELSE. And trust me, that OR ELSE is enough to still send a shiver of fear down my back. Thank you for giving a voice to the voiceless. Their names should be spoken. Their life has meaning.

Shawna knew how to look after children as evidence of abuse was not found on her own (blood related) grandchildren, but she clearly resented having to look after Kendall and so the child became the scapegoat, marked to receive the punishment for any perceived wrongdoings, stresses and ills of the rest of the household. If Kendall was so “clumsy” and developmentally delayed they would or should pursued getting the assistance which would have helped Kendall, and in turn Shawna, but they didn’t. That’s probably not only because of her injuries, but because if they did look into it, Kendall would have shown that she wasn’t actually “clumsy” at all, or at least not to the extent that she was capable of producing the types of injuries she so clearly had. Kendall was only “clumsy” when she was left alone with Shawna. I find it hard to believe that the grandfather was so oblivious to all that was going on …

No matter how many of these videos I watch I can NEVER understand how someone can deliberately harm/kill a child. I had trouble conceiving my 2 sons. Then I was in the bed or hospital for 6 out of the 9 months and almost lost both when delivering them. I would NEVER harm a child. To me they are gifts from God. They are on loan to us until He calls them home. May God bless everyone on here. I thank you for sharing these lovely young babies stories. I pray for your mental health while doing these videos. Much christian love.

I've watched every one of your videos on your main channel and this one really got to me. My little girl is also just about to turn 4 and every time you mentioned that Kendall would never see her 4th Christmas I just broke down. It's devastating that no one that was close to her loved her. She may have left quietly to her so-called family, but her story touched many strangers. Thank you for bringing her story to more people, she deserves to be remembered and loved. I'm so sorry that this happened to you, Kendall. Rest in Peace.

I'm continuously frustrated by the irresponsible children who dump their babies on their parents. Although it was awful what the grandma did to Kendall, if you get pregnant, that pregnancy is your responsibility.

That little girl was so beautiful and they would be glad that you are raising awareness of these unbelievably horrific crimes against innocent children. So many people in this world don’t care about them or even worse it’s hard to believe but it’s true.

Im wondering what happened to Steven the grandfather He must have seen and know what was happening or get suspicious why this dear little girl was always covered in bruises . Its horrendous what some people can do to little babies and children. I just hope this vile sick woman never lives a day with any kind of happiness again. RIP little angle

Yergy and drewby we absolutely adore you guys for being vulnerable during this video, we all feel the same way. At some point cps has to take accountability for their irresponsibility of these matters. They continue to fail these children 😢💔

Drewby & Yergy, I can only imagine how distressing and emotional it must be for you both to research and bring to light these heart breaking stories of the most innocent of victims in our society so I thank you for being a voice to the voiceless and for also highlighting the constant failures of Child Protective Services and other such agencies. This is becoming an all to familiar story in the USA, UK, Australia (my home) and other countries. Enough is enough.

Every home who has a report for suspicion of child abuse, should be monitored on camera by CPS 24/7 including the garage, car and their text messages, etc
A child's safety is more important than an adult's privacy. If they aren't harming the children, they shouldn't mind.

CPS should be monitored this way. We need to know if a case worker is doing their job and what's going on when they are not
