having lived behind the ACE CAFE , beresford ave , for most of my life ( 63 years age ) its so good to see THE GOOD TIMES BACK, AGAIN , YOU VE ALL MADE A OLD MAN VERY HAPPY , and i m SHAKING ALL OVER ! ,( JOHNNY KID AND THE PIRATES ! .
I just bought a Triumph Thruxton. Its an amazing machine. It attracts a lot of attention when I ride it. People fall in love with it where ever I go. I love the Brit Ton Up culture. I'm an American but fully wholeheartedly support and promote the old 60's British bike culture. Its eye opening when old grizzled Harley veterans come up to me at the gas pump and tell me they wish they had one too. :) Cheers!
Short and sweet, but very good & well made video. Remember seeing large groups of Rockers/ton up boys riding through Kent in the summer when i was a child. You can't beat that roar !!! Fantastic.
I'm an American and from where I'm standing you Brits ROCK! I can only dream of owning a Norton so my Honda CB will have to do (for now). Keep up the good fight!
been there dun it,loved it,lots of memories, cafe's, coffee, flipper machines, music, oil, rust, spanner wounds, accidents, a part of growing up.aA10s,Tritons
The bike, the beat and the general beating off into the wind, really sums it up. One removed from the mopeds crew in the fine young cannibals videos and any deus(h) plopped out.
The song at the end of the video is Johnny Kidd & the Pirates 'Shakin' All Over'. It's been edited though, as there is no singing. The guitar playing in the movie is 'F.B.I.' by The Shadows.
Ok maybe I was being unfair in my comments earlier... The Triumph, I admit, is a respectable motorcycle and in the end anyone with a passion for motorcycles is a brother (or sister) of my 'cloth'. I personally ride a Guzzi California 1100 and have never owned any other bikes :-) like you I love my bike, for its 'soul'.
My recollection is that most cafe racer bikes were not that fast. Most would be struggling to reach 120mph. Wasn't really about top speed though. It was all about image. They looked fast and powerful. They were good ol' days!
You're quite correct, it is indeed a beautiful Japanese bike....therefore I will refer you to my previous comment... "Proves a very definate point that Cafe Racers are not limited to British Iron!!" Nuff said!
Clip-ons..'cos they clip onto the top of the fork stancions, their easy enough ot get hold of. I also have fallen in love with the lady at 1:28, she rocks.
This inspires me to get, or rather build, my own Cafe Racer!. im more of a car guy but i have been looking for that perfect bike and whats more perfect than one you can build to your exact liking. The only thing i dont like about this is that some of the people that belong to this awesome culture aren't welcoming to those who want to join =/ how are you suppose to keep this awesome thing you got going alive with that attitude...
cafe racers are built. The new thruxton is a beautuful bike, but any older bike can be done up in a "cafe" style... Preferably vertical twin, clip ons or clubmans, bumpstop seat, rearsets.
I'm new to riding. I really want a cafe racer for a first bike. Can anyone recommend a good first bike in the cafe racer department. Also one more problem. I'm 5'4. So it needs to be a 27 or so inch seat height. Can anyone help me?
@OzzyDave6969 I remember it as a young lad I used to pass it every day walking down Ashton old road to Openshaw tech I saw the bikes at the meets and always wanted to be part of it when I eventually had a bike, sadly it went long ago and the old hall was demolished.
A caff racer by definition is any bike that has had the unwanted bits stripped off to make it lighter clip ons fitted to make it lower and not a bike with a triumph engine in it like was suggested by the muppets in this video.
don`t know what is seat high but if u think your first bike so i think it could be thuxton.... but if u know something at engines so then u can buy bit older bike.... brit offcourse.... i think that some 50-60`s brit bike could be it. easy engine tech.
bought a Triumph Thruxton last week, cause i'm not a mecanic and love to ride a cafe racer. First miles are stunning, i'm almost 39 and love the cult thats comes along with this motorcycle.
OH Come on! No biker in the 60s would call it a Cafe (pronounced Cafey), Back in those days it was a CAFFFFFFF as in Kath in Eastenders. You buy a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich in a Cafe and a poncey cup of coffee with a gallon of froth on it at a café, and a picture of elvis drawn in it HAHAHAHA. Stop trying to get the Yanks attention and say it like it is! Cafe Kaff. No decent trucker or biker EVER goes to a Café
The thing you have to remember is original the working class lads, the "Ton up boys" are long gone, replaced by a much younger posh crowd. and so you get a Caf-fay racer. But the bloke towards the end got it right.
Yes my friend you maybe right but you miss the point, the mod bikes just lack the character of these old machines and the seat of your pants thrill when you ride them!!

The bike, the beat and the general beating off into the wind, really sums it up. One removed from the mopeds crew in the fine young cannibals videos and any deus(h) plopped out.
Good to see someone taking an interest from TV/dvd land. If anyone can bring Cafe Racers to the broader publis I guess Mr Perry can?!
Great clip. Cafe racers are back in America and Europe - thumbsup --Beacham Owen
Always funny seeing the Harley shit talk, one of the bikes you see the most of in this video is a Harley sportster that's just been modified.
I will have to ride over there once my youtube café build is complete
customized, fast, loud and low.. liking this café racer motorcycle cult
i love cafe racer !!!

The first bike shown is an Evolution Harley Sportster, the engine at least! The rest looks handmade to me.

@pachu4 The song at the end is "Shakin all over" - "Johnny Kidd and the Pirates"
Does anybody know wich tune they play in the rest of this clip?
Ride a Triumph with original exhaust and you will see were the fun is. Clears the squirrels of the road.
Jeez! Who owns that very first bike shown? I would love some more pics/details on it!
A nicely made video - could be the start of a very good documentary.
Pity the first bike shown is a H-D Sportster!

Love cafe racers, but I still think it looks a bit silly when these old blokes look like they're trapped in the time period..
Lets see how you look when you reach old age!
LOL a Lambretta :D
You can make a CB into something very special. Just start putting some money into it. I plan on doing the same. CB's are also easier to get parts for.
