    Helga-First Thank -You for sharing all your delicious recipes-have enjoyed them greatly-!!! In a number of your videos requests were made to do special dishes I have two in your video of Mike’s Grandma’s sugar cookies you mentioned that you like cakie cookies have you ever made those Amish sugar or molasses cake cookies that are about 5-inches in diameter and a inch or better thick-I call them-dunkers used to get them down by Gap-Pa from a Amish wagon when I drove truck & the next item is a dish called ham & snepps. Okay I know you have a Full Plate 🤣pun intended but if you have time in the future would love to see your recipes. Mike is Blessed having such a good wife to take care of him hope he gives you plenty of Hugs & Kisses. Enjoy your channel from the SunShine State-!! Blessings to you. Retired Trucker Ralph👍

    I think we may be psychic psisters. Each time I start thinking it's been a while since you've posted a video WHAM there you are with a new video. This looks really good. If I had a clue where I could pick blackberries I'd give making a pie some consideration. If I leave now I can probably get to your house for blueberry custard pie for breakfast.🤔

    Hi Helga, I want to apologize about not commenting like I use to on your great creative beautiful videos. In May I was diagnosed as being a Type2 Diabetic A1c 7.1 so far no diabetic medication prescribed. My Primary Physician wants me to try Diabetic Diet, More Activity/Exercise and Lose weight first. Then on my November labs recheck my numbers and hopefully they have went down and if so still no medication at that time. In 2020 and some of 2021 I was in a real lull of a mood. Now I know why I was feeling that way. I am now working hard on those things my physician suggested. I will continue being a subscriber on your channel for sure. I have enjoyed your beautiful creative warmhearted channel so much. Thank you Helga for uplifting my soul. God Bless You. Love Tamson 😇💗

      Tamson, I'm sorry to hear this but know you're in good company. I also am type 2. I've lost 34# in the last year. I haven't given up my favorites, I just eat a lot less. If you'd like some good tips on carb substitutes, recipes and strategies, I'd be happy to share. HUGS. You can do this. And whatever you do, if they do recommend a med, do NOT let them put you on Metformin. It causes a lot of issues and has been linked to cancer and their are a lot better meds out there now. 31 years of shift work caused metabolic issues for me.

      @@PennsylvaniacookingBlogspot God Bless You Helga that means so much to me. You have such a warmhearted soul. Definitely portion control is the #1 way to go forward. I too was linked to metabolic issues. And worked many years in healthcare on long shifts up till 2015. Then was able to come home and help my husband here which is disabled. Heart Disease, Vascular Disease and Fibromyalgia. I now enjoy life so much better being here with my husband helping out. Thank you so much for all the excellent information. I will definitely focus on what you stated. Maybe one of your upcoming videos can be on the above topics you mentioned. Love Tamson 😇💞Please keep in touch. You got my home address. I will continue enjoying your wonderful beautiful channel.

    I do the cinnamon and sugar on left over dough always it’s absolutely delicious…but I never thought extra massive chunks of butter on top??? Of pie crust ? I must admit I’m curious so I’m going to have to try it on a small piece next time ❤

    Hi Helga! Your pie looks amazing!! My first experience making a fruit pie ever. I label it nightmare 101 😁 Basically, I forgot to add the sugar to my fresh picked black raspberries. So, my family couldn't possibly hurt my feelings and not eat it so they all just added sugar to the inside of each slice. I think I was 12 yo but what loyalty 😂 Live and learn, right? PS. Don't think for one sec." The Infamous Pie" hasn't been an ongoing joke in our family for years. As always, thank you Helga for all of your amazing recipes xx

      LOL! So, the infamous pie in our house is one my mom made when I was a kid. She used to buy spices in bulk and use smaller containers. However, sometimes she forgot to label them accordingly. She had put pepper in a former pumpkin spice container and added said pepper to her pumpkin pies. OMG, so peppery! LOL! We couldn't do it, we tried, even the dogs wouldn't eat it. Chickens aren't as discerning, LOL!

    Years ago we were in Amish country in Ohio. I had a piece of rhubarb custard pie and was totally smitten. Could I use this recipe with rhubarb?

    • @PennsylvaniacookingBlogspot
      @PennsylvaniacookingBlogspot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, absolutely! You may want to add more sugar since rhubarb is tart. Most rhubarb recipes call for 1 1/2 C sugar. I personally add 1 Cup. But I like mine a bit moer tart.
