So much fun. My grandmother made both of them. The milk pies, she made full size pies. Sort of like an egg custard pie without the eggs. She made the cinnamon/sugar treat also, but she rolled them up like a rugelach. Great memories. Thanks.

I've made them full size too, in the past. I love these so much as does Mike. So simple and so good! Thank you!

My Grandma from Philadelphia always did the butter & cinnamon thing with the dough scraps, I didn't know about PA Dutch milk pie at all till now! Glad to see some winter weather thru the window, brings back memories too.

My mom and grandmother made something similar. They called them milk flappies. In the bottom of their pie shells...a layer of flour, then sugar (mix with fingers), then lay pats of butter, cover with milk and sprinkle with sugar.

Thank you for the Milk Pie recipe Helga! I have always wondered how my Great Grandma made those and they really do bring back a lot of memories. I don't know why, but I always assumed she just made these as a custard with eggs, but after watching how you made them, I think she must have done them the same way as you did! ....and with the cinnamon on top of course

I'm just starting out with my channel so it's tough right now to make friends! Yep I'm right on Chocolate Avenue, across from the new Iron Hill Brewery. Chocolate Avenue Baking Company isn't open yet though, and I'm still testing out all my recipes. So I figured I would make videos on all of my recipe tests!

Basically an eggless custard pie. Looks good to me. I make the chips too, but i cut them into strips with a pizza cutter. I got some pie dough in the freezer to use up, so maybe these will be on the list. Thank you for the recipe, Helga. Stay safe and stay warm

Yes, and it's the best Cook'n you can get, right here in central Pennsylvania. My Mom and generations back on both of my sides, we all cooked Dutch food's. My dad, he's 77, and to this day still calls it (fill'n in the Turkey). A lot of ppl still ask me what's fill'n, the same with pot-pie.

Hi Helga, that reminds me of my mother who was from Dauphin County, PA. She didn't make milk pie but she rolled up the left over crust, buttered it and dusted it with sugar and cinnamon, rolled it up, cut it in pieces and baked it like lots of other mothers. I don't know if you've ever made buttermilk pie, but I promise you'll like it if you like milk pie. Thanks.
