Beths win is even better if you consider that her funding was stopped by the UK government meaning that she had to crowdfund her way there. They did this as they thought BMX especially Womens BMX had no chance to medal for Britain and then they went on to put 25 million more towards rowing in these last 4 years. Then at this Olympics, BMX for Britain outperformed Rowing as GB got 4 medals (2 gold, a silver and a bronze) in BMX from 4 events and only 3 medals (2 silvers and a bronze) in rowing in 14 events.
Rowing has a more prestigious history in most countries. It makes sense

As bethany was saying i cant feel my legs after that ride.. That is the best ride out of all when you simply keep driving with no holding back no matter what with determination & the best rides are those where you cant feel your legs after.

You watch this, a sport with little recognition, but you see the total commitment, levels of exhaustion they go to to reach their goal. Then compare this to footballers, who throw themselves on the ground at the slightest breeze and you need to understand the levels…..

Three years ago Mariana Pajón couldn’t even walk and there she was, fighting for another Olympic title 🤯 She’s definitely the QUEEN of BMX.
Mad respect to Beth as well, this was her time for Gold.

The Queen is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING on a Bmx bike!! Second turn and 3rd Straight she could have peddled alot more and WON it!!! She's the Greatest girl I've ever seen in Bmx!! I've raced from 1978 to 2016!! Had to retire due to 5 stomach surgeries and 2 illiostomy bags!!! Bmx is The Greatest Sport on Earth!!!❤❤❤

Yeah but when you know that in 2018 Mariana couldn't even walk you understand why she got the silver and can only admire her even more for winning that silver medal after all of those troubles🔥🔥

Hey, why not two motos? You could get the OAW without winning both races, or without winning either race .....I know there would have to be a recovery between the first and second race.
If you watch all the racing, they've had to do a lot qualifying laps to get to the final, so its pretty fair.

Had Mariana Pajón had 5 more seconds of race and she would have won gold.
If the race was 5 seconds longer the athletes would modify their effort throughout the event accordingly.
But it wasn't 5 seconds more was it
5 seconds is a lot. 2 seconds is already a big difference and would have done the job

Beth had no BOC or Sport U.K. funding as the policy was to to concentrate on the BMX men only. Ironic that we struck Gold in the Women’s event and Silver in the Men’s.

With this, overall success of GB BMX riders in both this and freestyle, and lackluster performance in track (domain for GB in the last 4 Olympic) means that BMX GB will undoubtedly received better funds in future
