We all slowly over time worked our way into the skinny fit stacked denim and now we going back to the tall tees and baggy denim of the lil Wayne era. I’m with you bro. That’s max slim straight feels big enough for me lol
I have recently transitioned into straight bottoms comepletely(vintage 501’s, double knees, etc) and have throughly enjoyed it. Been more on my workwear kick lately. I love how they look with 1’s, Salomon, boots, nb’s etc. Highly recommend to anyone that’s looking to be more cozy and relaxed. Keep the content comin!
I honestly like both because they don't have excess fabric like straight and boot cut. I used to be a boot cut and straight fit guy until I realized how much slim and skinny fit make my body more fitting because of lesser fabric, and that I was able to show case my sneakers more because of less fabric covering them. So my style and preferences did change over time which I'm glad they did, otherwise I wouldn't have dope outfits. Secondly I feel like slim and skinny fits should only be worn by guys who are in shape because I've seen big guys wear those and they ended up looking like Johnny Bravo, which is why it's important to dress your body type.
I'm a big guy. 5'11, about 290lbs. You know. Thick thighs save lives type energy. I tend to like a good slim fit [slim straight if you wear a lot of Wrangler denim from Walmart like me] as the most room I wanna deal with. This gives me a comfortable amount of room in the thighs and seat without being loose. However, my taper sits behind the tongue on most sneakers without trying. However, I enjoy a good skinny too. All the way down to that PacSun, nut-hugging skinny. Though I don't wear them that close often, I do like the way they look and feel.
I think the most important thing we should note overall is to dress for your body type. I have muscular legs so jeans were always somewhat of a problem for me growing up. Skinnies would never make it past my calves lol. I like jeans that give me room in the thighs but at the same time still have a nice taper. I just recently bought a pair of Athletic Taper jeans from Gap and they fit like a dream. I'm also happy that looser fitting pants are in right now and I dig the aesthetic, especially when it comes to vintage.
The 512 slim tapers from levi's are a go to for me. They blend the two fits into one solid pair. If you can get the premium versions that go on sale at the end of each season, issa wrap
Before Levi’s introduced 512 they had 522 - both are perfect for sneaker lovers because of their aggressive taper. For a more relaxed fit but still a taper 502. And if you don’t want any taper 511 still one of the best basic Levi’s cuts. Pro tip: try them on in store because mass production means varying quality control. It’s my understanding Premium just means it has a full grain leather patch, the real trick to getting a quality pair is buying at a flagship store because they’ve usually undergone more quality control. Depending on the pair too, the stretch is more prevalent/ evenly distributed throughout. I have a 512's in both the premium and base model and there's definitely a difference in hand to me and on body.
I remember wearing the skinniest jeans imaginable and feeling so self conscious was only in my late 20's early 30's had them on for about 4 hours, went in the nearest store and bought some more jeans so i could get out of them. Now as you say its a competition who can wear the tightest, some are like spray on jeans. I think on blokes its too extreme and can look a bit feminine. Im a fan of a few different times - slim, tailored or skinny. I think as you get older though skinny Topman style jeans are difficult to pull off and don't look right on older guys. Still rock those Jordans though, don't care what they say, they gonna be burying me in them joints!

They didnt sell “skinnies” back then so i had to buy womens clothes and get them altered. But now 2021 i am more toward slim straights/cropped. You’re right trends change snd styles that were laughed at and made fun of become whats cool. Its crazy how far we have come.
Man! You would have to go to a thrift store just to find just a pair of jeans with a regular taper back then! Everything was over-sized. And if you didn't know where to go/do [like me] you just had to sauce whatever you could. I don't ever want to go back to that!
skinny jeans are for narrow shoes (like converse) and or nicely fitting shirts. slim fit is the middle ground and straight/loose/baggy are for chunky shoes (Air Force 1) and or oversized fitting shirts. It is all about matching the proportions of your silhouette. mixing skinny jeans with an oversized shirt or bulky hoodies/jackets looks just as silly as baggy cargos with a muscle fit shirt. Proportions of how pieces fit is the first thing I look at when judging someone’s style vs trend hoppers
I would go the opposite of what you said. Skinny jeans go better with chunky shoes, it just depends on what top you wear with it. Looser pants with chunky shoes can look sloppy and dated.
2022 today and this video still applies with solid knowledge. Skinny i think looks great with low top sneakers especially the classic whites and Dunks and Yeezy 350s. Slim looks better with the chunkier sneakers like Jordan 4/5/6/11s Yeezy 700s. When it comes to Jordan 1s, whether it's slim or skinny, if the length is too long the bottoms gotta get cuffed or pin rolled/ or resort to joggers.

I’ve been wearing skinnies since like 06 when I was super into skating. My issue with them now is that the fit from most brands is really whack. Most will look “skinny” above the knee, but the opening always ends up being way too wide. So it ends up looking like you’re wearing a pair of slims that are a size too small 🤷🏻♂️
If you want that nice skinny tapered look at the bottom, the jean opening needs to be in between 10-11 inches. My current go to’s that I can always find for cheap are the Levi’s 519 Extreme Skinny and Hollister’s Super Skinnies.

Im short and thin guy. In some brands slim fit jeans look on me like regular jeans and skiny like slim. In some modern brands slim fit sometimes are to tight. I always buy jeans how they fit on me not how producer call them. And if you notice in some brands the measumerent change with waist size.

NOTE: always buy jeans with stretch material added a size smaller as the stretch out they will fit you perfectly with just a few wears over traditionally all heavy cotton denim which takes much longer

I thought the slims looked better, at least when paired with AF1s. With AF1s being a bulkier shoe, they looked more proportionate with bulkier (slim) jeans, and skinnys look better with thinner/minimalist sneakers. Either way, like you said, just wear what you like and everyone has their own preference and opinions 👍

I like the look of skinny fit but my legs are way to big for it. I usually go for levis 502 (tapered fit). I believe the leg opening is simialar to a 511 while still leaving a little more room in the thigh area.

I've got slight blow legs so I usually wear slim fit more, but I've got and equal amount of skinny jeans to match certain outfits. The beauty of fashion is variety, but just like you I never go any baggier than slim fit on jeans, chinos or smart pants/trousers
while having slim legs, skinnyfits are too tight for me, the tightes i can wear are slimfits. they are like a leggings, with some wrinkles, with 0 space between legs and pants. so i do not get it how your versions have a size which can easly be misinterpreted as some relaxed or straightfit ones. for example levis 511 - my size is 31/34. the legs are fitting tightly, but butt-room is too small (still i do have a small one fitting to my legs) and waistband is more like a 32 or 33 with too much room ...when you buy a 31/34 511 from levis. so what sizes are your versions 34/32?
I love the feel of skinny jeans, a lot of H&M pairs in my collection, but there’s a problem sometimes if your sneaker is a little more of a brick; I’m more muscular, so the skinny jeans are form fitting and then there’s this huge shoe - I’m a size 11, so…..I’m more frequently in the slims. Too baggy looks sloppy on me and makes me look shorter, the slims are a nice compromise between looks.

I thought the slims looked better, at least when paired with AF1s. With AF1s being a bulkier shoe, they looked more proportionate with bulkier (slim) jeans, and skinnys look better with thinner/minimalist sneakers. Either way, like you said, just wear what you like and everyone has their own preference and opinions 👍

I like slim fit jeans is my style I go for Nudies Jeans and Naked & Famous I like those jeans you wore in this video a lot of my Jordans are white and I don't have to worry about it staining the sneaker.
I like the look of skinny fit but my legs are way to big for it. I usually go for levis 502 (tapered fit). I believe the leg opening is simialar to a 511 while still leaving a little more room in the thigh area.

I am buying my first pair of $800.00 shoes, and my main thing is I don't want the jeans hiding the expensive shoes I'm getting, I want people to sell all of my shoe, they are high tops height. But I don't really wanna have to tuck the jeans into a ankle boot type of shoe, so this stacking at the top is awesome. Skinny Fit for me.
I prefer skinny jeans they give a nice clean look. But I am starting to feel like it might be to feminine for me. And I am to stubborn to wear looser fighting jeans. But skinny to me looks great for dates and dressy occasions.
I'd stick to skinny :) What we all need to stay away from are the spray on/Super skinny jeans.

definitely slim fit or like 501 style of fit for the most part. the only time i ever find myself wearing skinny denim anymore is when i'm trying to go for that YSL-rocker look hahaha
I've always been a straight leg guy but might crossover to slim fit. Straight leg starting to seem too loose when trying to shoe off what's on feet

while having slim legs, skinnyfits are too tight for me, the tightes i can wear are slimfits. they are like a leggings, with some wrinkles, with 0 space between legs and pants. so i do not get it how your versions have a size which can easly be misinterpreted as some relaxed or straightfit ones. for example levis 511 - my size is 31/34. the legs are fitting tightly, but butt-room is too small (still i do have a small one fitting to my legs) and waistband is more like a 32 or 33 with too much room ...when you buy a 31/34 511 from levis. so what sizes are your versions 34/32?

I love the feel of skinny jeans, a lot of H&M pairs in my collection, but there’s a problem sometimes if your sneaker is a little more of a brick; I’m more muscular, so the skinny jeans are form fitting and then there’s this huge shoe - I’m a size 11, so…..I’m more frequently in the slims. Too baggy looks sloppy on me and makes me look shorter, the slims are a nice compromise between looks.
