Everyone has their own opinion. This is my personal favorite guitar player. His phrasing is .......He's just my favorite guitar player of all time. (Yes I now that's saying a lot) Just saw him do a Coltrane song live and my jaw was dropped for 15 minutes. Incredible musician.
We learned from the Austin news on December 27th that Bill Maddox was killed in his home. It is tragic for his wife and family, and for the Austin, Tx music community. Bill was an amazing talent but an even more amazing person. God bless you. We will miss you, but never forget you.
Yeah i'm not sure, I just noticed it when he came away from the mic a few times, but hey who cares! it's the guitar playing we are here for :) Thanks for the upload. Even if it's 6 years a go now!
YES!!! I always loved that little part. It makes the solo really stand out. He does something like that at the end of the middle solo to Cliffs Of Dover.
Great use of wide intervals . This is how a Strat should sound . I feel like i've Tuned in to a Pirate radio station , and am hearing someones take of how music should sound , on this planet . He's just Ripping on this in the second verse he hits a pedal and gets a chimey sound , kind of like a piano sound his chord voicings are a trip .
i dunno, but a lot of times whoever is editing the video will put different parts together that might not exactly match whats being done. the hendrix woodstock video has a bunch of this and may just be due to lack of footage. but in this i'm not sure.
I actually heard him make a mistake, even the best guitar players can still flub it it up once in a while but most people would miss it anyway because he also knows how to fix it quick, anyways love his style and picking In other videos he sounds like he likes to use the diminished scale a lot, I love to use that scale but it must be used correctly at the right time if you know what I mean, great video thanks
You taught Eric Johnson to play.. I take tit hem your an Austin Boy.. Because I'm an Austin Boy.. Excuse me for saying but I find your claim quite unbelievable... Also please don't compare Eric to Joe Bonnamassa if you knew what you were talking about you wouldn't make. such ridiculous comparisons..
I noticed that too... Who knows... Maybe he made a mistake with the lyrics and decided to record the voice again separately I don't know... But it's definetely not synced
@977eli Well he doesn't have the line-up here that I think everyone is used to. I think people would recognize the line-up better had Kyle Brock and Tommy Taylor been a part of it.
You are dead on about that. his speed combine with odd tunings, let alone odd chords make it harder than hell. never heard of the software. where can i get? i learn well from paper, its pretty much mandatory when your in uni, hahaha.
Why? he plays blues-rock and blues-metal. He can play blues, just not the real, light blues. Search for his Made of Tears 2006 video, he has really great impros there.

You cant even front that. I know you were impressed. Thank you. 😎
Eric Johnson-"The standard by which all are judged".

You ripped this tune to shreds. Something about your House Of Blues.
Thanks for supporting EJ ;) Take care
DAMN!! EJ is one of the best. No one sounds or plays like him. Beautiful Tone.
Appreciate the upload of this House of Blues performance.
Very unique indeed
This shit´s not on dvd... Thanks men for uploading this stuff. It´s worth it
Chris Maresh is a monster too.
I love his voice. I never noticed how special it was until now. As for his guitar, it goes without saying...
thanks for puttin the vid up dude. and its startin to piss me off that no matter where i go i cant find any of Erics cds.

see him live , it will change your life, just real
This is one of my favs live . Seen him do it few times. Eric is the man!
Yeah, that lick at 4:21...to about 4:35
I am seeing stars here,..I know what I am transcribing this weekend!
YES!!! I always loved that little part. It makes the solo really stand out. He does something like that at the end of the middle solo to Cliffs Of Dover.
I love this song... pretty good for the shape im in! "Eric is a alien love child"
Great use of wide intervals . This is how a Strat should sound . I feel like i've Tuned in to a Pirate radio station , and am hearing someones take of how music should sound , on this planet .
He's just Ripping on this

This is extremely good
HE IS A ALIEN LOVE CHILD !
Wow. Absolutely amazing
cool arpeggio riff on 4:30 gotta love the use of different substitute tonalities in this guys playing
yes absolutely - i love EJ's tone -its always so good and yes alway so crisp and clear he never seems to "mush" the notes together
DrChronos, Thank you for posting.
That first GTr solo is so hot the string skips sound like a 100 pound violin
Its a pleasure! hehe
WOW!!!
Constantly amazing.
This dude sings with the guitar no lyrics needed
wow Eric is awesome player !!!

@westcoast1965 agreed.. his phrasing is beautiful and very clean. He also has a fantastic control over dynamics and vibrato... an absolute genius...

Jesus... I got nothiin' wow....
Love this videos, thx Drchronos!!
GENIO TOTAL!! AGUANTE EJ!!
Love EJ.
This lineups mo positron.
I'm so proud. He plays it exactly like I taught him! I love him, but sometimes I wish he had a more powerful voice, a la Clapton, Bonamassa, et al.

has eric ever poped a string wile in performance? O.o
That lick at 4:21
anyone know of a tab for this?
Sorry but there rr no Tabs for this stuff anywhere...never have been...
I noticed that too... Who knows... Maybe he made a mistake with the lyrics and decided to record the voice again separately I don't know... But it's definetely not synced
@ westcoast1965
or just work harder. ha but he has a tone unlike anyone else. amazing player.
i agree man EJ is great, but you cant just wipe out all the great stuff al di meola has done. some his jazz/fusion stuff is just superb
woha 😎 😉 😆 i begame chai neee
why does it seem like the vocals dont match the video?
Eric doesn't credit for his singing. he's got a nice pure tone to his voice.
Bill uh tet keyan tuck it

i was worried about someone saying that. i can do most artists by ear, but ej is much tougher.
I love EJ and all, i'm not hating! but is the singing lip-synced?
Not here🤮 proli, the sink.
Couldn't help but realize that no one else gives the other band members any credit. Come on guys, not very nice.
Lots of stuff in minor7 scales, does that make it blues? Don't know & don't care. Riff at 5:58 is wicked....
The larynx 😂
but Satch rules everyone dude!
He is the best guitarist in the world!
Opening sounds like Bonamassa's "Woke Up Dreaming"
Please don't compare that idiot Bonamassa to a guitar wizard like Eric Johnson.
@anonymouslolxD cant play blues? then i suppose stevie ray vaughan plays metal...
@MrTest1986 Or learn to read music.
& I see nothing out of sync here. Absolutely nothing.
Satch throws too many notes
