It’s fun to watch your progress. I like the Robert Moses comparison. I worked in NY as an Ironworker from 1970’s- 90’s building bridges and high rises. Your scenes take me back in time. These days I am building an N Scale empire and find your videos helpful.👍🏿

I love the format of these videos. It's always fun to see great modeling, of course, but I particularly get a lot from you walking us through your thought processes - what you did and why, what you aren't happy about and why, your thoughts on scene composition and guiding the view's experience. It is instructional to look over your shoulder as you narrate your journey. Thanks so much, Doug.

Your attention to detail is phenomenal. But your buddy is right less is more.

I like the idea of turning the piers on an angle. Besides the space consideration, it adds interest.

Looks great Doug! I remember when you first started working on this layout. This layout has evolved so much and it’s really coming together! Thanks for sharing and keep the videos coming!

I like the new pier set-up and love the elevated subway idea as a scenic piece. Cool stuff!

Nice to see you are adding a White Castle. It was a popular stop for me when I lived in Missouri.

Going to be a nice landmark to have on the layout.

I am really looking forward to watching the growth of your urban section. The elevated is a very exciting development.
Piers are big. I am not sure where mine is going to go. I thought I knew, but it also isn’t working, so it will have to move. Sigh…

Yeah, piers are tricky, difficult to compress them, they don't look as impressive when we shrink them down, when in reality they were hundreds of feet long.

Cool developments Doug, love the idea of the two piers. Wondering if you can place the furthest pier in such a way you can scenically incorporate the steel support in the corner. Very interesting how you plan to put a subway entrance next to the fascia. Asks for a more in-depth underground subway diorama at that very location. Hence, I would say playing Alan Wolfson instead of Robert Moses. After all the last one is in fact the most significant cause of all those beautiful piers in NYC to have disappeared. Whether directly or indirectly. Very interesting how you’ve shared your different design and edit considerations.
One more time back to the piere; maybe consider to make the water surface around the piers detachable, that will allow you to reach further in to the layout corner. Looking forward to your next episodes. Cheerio

Great work through. I always liked White Tower better then. White Castle however , if we were coming from the bar at 3 in the morning there wasn't too much better than 5 White Castle burgers. Well maybe a full breakfast eggs , home fries , bacon at Target dinner at Woodheaven Blvd. and Metropolitan Ave. Nuts , now Im hungry!😂

Great progress, I look forward to seeing how you model the pier warehouses and the el train. I'm planning a layout very similar in theme, except backdated to the 30s and more rapid transit than freight. Very inspiring!

Great layout with awesome detail. I'm just building my first layout and trying to keep it simple, but my inner child keeps telling me to add more, lol.

A lot of projects coming up. You said you really wanted three piers a few times but will make two work. Could you make them a bit smaller to get your three? I'm sure whatever you decide will be great.

    • @FosScaleModels
      @FosScaleModels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I could make them smaller, but I really think I need one big one... it really makes a difference when you can fit more than two box cars in it.

I noticed the cigarette ad on your rooftop and immediately thought of the Marlboro Man ads from the 70's. It would blend well with the "crying indian" you already have.

Nice "re-imagineering" of the pier area Doug. Pier 27, Pier 23 Sanborn Coffee. Dept of Docks. kit bash. scratch built?
Yes remember well the 12 cent White Castle burgers growing up in Queens :)

Will be two new pier buildings, have the designs ready, just have to get to it.
