I know Project+ really wanted to focus on making the game competitive over adding a bunch of new characters, so if Knuckles is the only new character they'll add, I think they picked one of the best characters they could have added, especially since Project M had planned on adding him in the first place. Glad he turned out so well!

3:07 A detail I really like about Sonic and Knuckles' up bs is that Knuckles has the yellow spring and Sonic has a red spring. And in Sonic games, the yellow spring doesn't send you as high as the red one.

Its sad that Lyn couldn't make it to P+ but Knuckles is quite fun to play as even for casual matches with friends, they keep asking when there's more characters. Lol.

Agreed. I'd love for Lyn to be in the game, but Knuckles is awesome. Kid me would've been all over this.
Luckily, Lyn is playable with the updated version of P+, called PMEX (Project Remix). Goku too, and much more if you have the right mod of that too 😈.

if you think Lyn might be too overpowered... just remember there are mostly three qualities to make a character strong; speed, range, and power...
... now I'm just picturing a fast Sephiroth without killpower and it's honestly somewhat funny.
if you've played with dev lyn she was really strong. She had faster run speed than Falcon and her arrows killed people offstage like a projectile shinespike. They would have had to completely rework her to make her work in game which is why she didn't make it, she was less finished than Knuckles as is.

Kunckles rocks, but ngl Lyn can actually work in P+
The best choice for another Sonic character in Smash would have been Knuckles, the first Sonic's rival and in my opinion, more interesting than Shadow

imo if another Sonic character were ever to join the actual playable roster, it'd probably be Eggman
Sakurai most likely hates Shadow's guts since his fans are about as vocal as Geno's, and Knuckles is sadly relegated to being an assist trophy (still possible for him to get an upgrade to being playable like Little Mac did tho)
and seeing Eggman fighting all the other villains would just be awesome af, lol
Knuckles in P+ is so amazing and fun, I'm glad he was chosen considering the Sonic series' rep in Smash these days. I cool thing that I found out is that his stance is actually from a fighting pose he does in Sonic Adventure during some cutscenes.
i wish we had lyn :( i know they dont wanna go overboard but Knuckles and Lyn were like a package deal when we first found out about them imo. isaac and sammy were clearly more unfinished tho
this is a criticism ive felt specially strong with earlier videos, which you've improved on but i feel your scripts need a 2nd or 3rd read/pass.
statements like "Some people think he is overtuned, but..." that "but" right there should be followed by statements like "He is a new character so people havent developed the counterplay".
Instead you just go "But a lot of people, myself included are simply grateful for his inclusion".
Then you immediately give ending thoughts of "The fact he is here and that he was an early idea and that he finally made it in... I'm really glad for his inclusion". You just said literally 3 seconds prior that you were grateful for his inclusion and here you are, saying that you are glad for his inclusion.
It's not a deal breaker, but just something i've noticed a lot with how you tend to repeat yourself or simply not connect thoughts together

Fun fact if you do an aerial as you up b with knuckles you can get more height out of it (I find down air to be the most consistent one) obviously the bonus height comes at the cost of having an active move out so you won't auto snap to ledge but it helps for horizontal recoveries when you're options are limited.

I left a comment a while ago but deleted it and came back to this and I think I still want to say your videos could stand to do with some more research. I appreciate you covering P+ but there's plenty of people in the scene you couldve asked for more information, this video misses the mark on what actually makes Knuckles strong in such a way that its not really a matter of opinion and more just misinformation about the character.
The biggest one is assuming that a "brawler" archetype (whatever that means) is supposed to be weak to projectiles and zoning when that really isnt true at all in PM since the movement is so diverse compared to Brawl and games afterwards, characters with similar gameplans to Knuckles like Falcon and Meta Knight really have no issues at all with defensive projectiles and are very good against that campier kind of play. The real reason Knuckles is so strong is a lot simpler, great mobility and combo tools with few weaknesses to offset it since his recovery and ground normals are also very good, with his only notable weakness being poor out of shield options. His down throw is also exceptional in how long it combos heavy floaties who normally dont get hit by most throw followups in the game, and despite this he has really good throws against fastfallers too. Glide is a really good option but it doesnt break the character.

I am kinda wishing that they added just 1 or two more characters ya know? I would have really loved to see what they could have done to Sora in P+, like think of all they could have added, flomotion as a recovery similar to Pit or meta knight, more magic selection like say aero for small buff to defense or even water to shoot as a projectile. They also could have done sat replaced sonic blade with strike raid or even just buff sonic blade, and finally change his block counter for Reflect as a counter. I would have also loved to see what they could have done with say Crash or even a new Pokémon like say toxtricity or Melmetal.

good video but I disagree where you say "tilt stick allows you to abuse tilts" - being able to use a move consistently and reliably should never be considered inherently abusive. If it is abusive, probably the move is just too good or the opponent doesn't know how to deal with it.
there's a debate between a lot of PM/P+ players on whether "Tilt Stick" should be allowed in the engine because PM wasn't designed around the mechanic. Some people think its unfair to hit tilts that quickly, because characters in PM have nautrally fast tilts, thats what that comment was refrencing.

This vid is awesome man and I think knuckles is a little bit overrated when people make tier list of him giving him the “A tier” which is not what I will give him I think just b tier fits him even tho has a lot of buffs he does have some weakness that keeps him from A tier but still a good character but anyways awesome vid.

If they'd have gotten to add any character to Project M/+, I'm glad it was Knuckles. I've been wanting him in Smash for years and if we aren't ever gonna get him in an official game, I'm glad we got him in one for fans, by fans.
I was surprised how nice knuckles fits with the cast. If I were told this were a scrapped character for brawl I’d believe you since I think they surpass the quality of some of the base characters of the game.
I was always way more hyped for Lyn then i was for Knuckles. But its cool any of the forbidden six were actually released.
If we were to get another sonic rep for smash I would personally choose knuckles tbh.
I need too see Shadow now, I mean he's a semi clone of Sonic that can be very cool too see sense can difference a lot of him, like his Chaos power's or being a bit more slow then Sonic but more stronger then him

it just takes less skill- like by that same logic, auto L cancel also wouldn't be a bad thing
@@poopsmithjones1 yeah auto L cancel is also a thing that should be more accepted. both lower the skill floor without affecting the skill ceiling.
also use of other controllers like boxes can allow tilts to be as easy as c stick tilts, so if you want to ban c stick tilt youd need to ban all controllers except gamecube and the ability to remap buttons.

I played project m from start to finish and tried playing project +, to those who love it good but for me i see the same issues that made me dislike PMs devs, a claim of balance but still tons of terrible characters, not listening to the community(though barely one exists now), change for the sake of change, nerfing success even if it was fair and square and such but at least p+ doesnt jerk off melee to the point of complete stupidity
