I'm so glad ur so happy after awhile.Glad to see the real Ed show. Its been awhile. When ur happy and excited it brings me joy to build my own dream setup.
@@shaye170 He made a video on it a little bit ago. Basically, he had some problems in his house, and him and his wife caught covid, so they were worried because they didn't want to spread it to their daughter. He also had some other health issues, I believe.
Just letting you know, DO NOT paint the cones on your kefs. They are aluminum drivers, when drivers are made of a soft material you can dye them but with aluminum you will affect sound quality. If i were you if it really bothers you, you could reach out to kef. They make the LS50s in various finishes as well as have different coloured drivers depending on finish. Just order new drivers from kef in your desired finish.
I could tell from the start that this was going to be a Monster of a build! This is amazing, I wish you all the best with your channel, you deserved it.
Ed, little tip when finding the studs... the outlet will always be attached to a stud, so there's one right there for sure, and the rest will be every 16" (on center) from there also.
Moisture meter is used in case of flooding situations. You can use it to determine the areas where water damage took place in your sheet rock and studs. This is helpful so you don't replace/repair more than what was damaged by the water spill.
Hey Edgar, I love the excitement behind the speaker upgrade! The 8k resolution comparison had me grinning because I can remember what it was like discovering the difference in audio clarity when I upgraded my recording studio speakers. Regarding painting the copper center of the speaker diaphragm, as long as the material is a hard surface (actual metal) you should be okay. Just keep in mind that paint will add some weight to the cone which means the magnetic driver system will have to work harder to move the cone in and out to produce the sound you want to hear. This may result in some high frequency loss, and since this is not the tweeter, it may affect the upper mid-range where the crossover happens between the the main driver produces and the frequencies the tweeter produces. The only way to measure this accurately would be to use a frequency analyzer tool to show a graph. Set up a microphone in the sweet spot (where your head would be when you sit in front of them) and play a “sine sweep” through the speakers. If you do this before and after the paint, you should be able to see the difference in response characteristic the paint adds to the diaphragm. This will likely be a minimal difference, and you’ll want to make sure you put the microphone in exactly the same spot for both tests. Also, using a measurement microphone (fairly inexpensive) will help the accuracy as well. Message me if you are curious about this and have questions! I’d be happy to help
For the placement of your sff pc, you could attach it under your desk like Optimum Tech did (you can refer to one of his videos). The pc would be “invisible” from the front since it would be under the countertop, it would lead in better temps and less noise overall.
Generally outlets are mounted to the side of a stud, then from there most studs are 16 inches apart from each other in new construction if anyone is having trouble finding them!
I had my old timber front door (1500mm wide x 2100mm high) professionally repurposed into a worktop (1700mm wide x 800mm deep) when we remodeled our house. The door had a lot of character. Then I had a piece of 6mm white (so you don't see the green shine through) safety glass cut (furniture specification) and placed it over the door. It looks incredible and having the old door in my study underneath my gaming setup ads a bit of nostalgia.
Hey Tech! I'm happy to see you and your family doing well. I just moved into a house myself and I'm looking for ways to set up my very first gaming/video editing station. I'll be looking at your videos for ideas. I'll also appreciate any recommendations if you can. Thanks bro!
As a music producer, glad to see ed upgrade those speakers. A lot of people miss this feature in their own setups and it's such a greatly missed opportunity for a far better user experience whether you're into making music, playing games or just watching video.
that intro was so refreshing, after seeing a few recent vids from ed having a depressing note, due to covid, and house moving, just seeing him start off the video with a smile made my day
Lookin like you taking a break from the gym my dude. I feel yah, I’ve been on an extended break myself. Fatherhood, family, and work will do that. Hoping to get back on it soon!
Edgar, you should make friends with those construction workers. You could have asked some of them help you out bringing in the table. From my experience they don't tend to be jerks about helping out. Also it might be a plus for you with noise control. They might be able to work with you when you're recording and reduce noise.
put the mini pc on the right hand side of your office, either on an end table or on the right side of the desk. Makes it easier to route the cables behind everything since the back of the PC will be facing the right direction.
@7:21 dude I as a relatively handy guy with lots of experience moving heavy things, you need to secure the counter and if it is fragile wrap it in something like a painter’s blanket. So if I were you I would have wrapped the counter and used a few ratchet straps. I would also suggest looking up when lifting heavy things. As looking up gives you natural good lifting form. If you lift with your back you will damage it. If possible even if phoning a friend 2 people lifting something makes it so much easier. You also need to measure and make sure the object will fit before you try and jam it through a door. If it won’t fit one way you can also change it’s orientation. This isn’t supposed to be mean but there is a lot of room for improvement my man.
if it is an itx build, you can most it under the desk. it actually will have better thermals and most itx cases don't have tempered glass so they aren't a major showpiece
I think for the pc builds , If you put them above ,kind of like books on a bookshelf. It would look amazing. Sometimes a bit of asymmetry gives of a good esthetic look .
Ngl, personally i think the gold chrome accent on the speakers look amazing, and give just a touch of colour to your set up as it is literally just white which can get almost a bit boring to look at but all in all set up looks great so far.
Hey Ed. Your videos are absolutely STUNNING and just ENTERTAINING. 🤩🔥 I'm very happy that what you long awaited for, which is of course your DREAM SETUP, has finally started and is on the process. Not lying, the best part for me was the whole video or should I say THE DREAM DESK SETUP JOURNEY, Until... I saw SHILOH. During your outro, what I mean is from 37:52 till the end, I pretty much did not pay attention to you or what you were saying, except when you were talking about your Custom Tech Source RGB Logo, and your acoustic panels as well, but other than, I had my eyes on SHILOH. She was in joy during the outro and it was the CUTEST thing I've ever seen on the Tech Channel. 🥰💐
The one thing I wish I had right now is the nvidia broadcast option. It is a total game changer! I can't afford more than what i have right now. I have the gtx 980, even though I feel fortunate to have that because it does work great and allows me to play all my games, but one day I'll be able to upgrade and get to use nvidia broadcast. It makes a huge difference.
When trying to find a stud, for a start look up at your electrical outlet and low voltage they almost always will be nailed onto a stud, therefore your stud finder might not be working right or user error. Also not sure if you'll do this or not but you can get a hole saw and make holes on desk with plastic grommet for cable management. 👍
I have a floating desk too in the sound booth I built at my church and based on the way you described the weight of that countertop, I highly recommend some stronger brackets. The ones you have look too flimsy and weak to hold a countertop of that size and weight.
I cant even imagine what it will look like keep it up. Youve inspired me to upgrade from my integrated graphics laptop to a pc and good setup when I can, if i can. Great job ed.
21:35 I'm always so thankful that our houses aren't built like that where I live, I don't even want to imagine how much of a pain it must be hanging up TVs and such things o.O
I would love to see the "Mini Red" mounted up under the desk. I'm not sure how it would affect airflow as such, or if you're wanting it to be in plain sight? But I think mounting it under the desk could be cool :)
I think Mini Red should go against the wall either next to the doors or next to the window, that way you can put a shelf on the other side to stay symmetric
@18:00 YOU HAVE A LASERLEVEL! That is level! Just measure down x inches from the laser level and mark the wall. Then attach the mounting hardware to the wall and put on the tabletop...
for your speakers, get some adhesive magnets and buy an aftermarket audio monitor cover roughly the size of your driver. Then you'll be able to remove them easily if you want to dust of things a bit. (That is what I would do anyway!)

Me watching this as my dads man cave just flooded in the basement for the third time.
He could've used that when his toilet clogged🤣
For the speakers...build a custom grill to cover the gold maybe something with your logo.
so excited to see this all unfold. it's just as exciting seeing how passionate and determined you are to make it perfect!
