I use this to get out of my house at night and bust small drug deals in my town as a vigilante at night, ropes kinda burns but I wear gloves... Cool thing is people have noticed but the cops don't really seem to care since this is such a shitty town

Well, as he says, it's better than nothing! It seems like a better idea than jumping down.... I'm still looking for the perfect solution for my house, and am looking for a the right rope to do this with. I have the escape ladders but in a real situation I don't think I'd have time to unfurl the escape ladder as it's kind of unwieldy. Thanks for posting Mobilefish!
Learn a hangmans knot and tie the to bedpost or similar strong structure.his knot takes too long. Buy 200kg rated yellow rope from b and q or homebase its about £ 21,or go to rope expert. Rope escape method should be ok for someone fit and confident.
Lots of comments here from 'experts' that can't even spell carabiner. Actually, they can't seem to spell anything.
My friend, tie the rope for something solid like a metal pipe for heating or other reliable thing. The plastic of the window is not a good idea of anchor.
Good, but pipes in the house may also not be the best idea. Large framed objects like a bed, heavy furniture which is unable to follow you through the window can be great options.
I was thinking the same. A large sturdy item like a table leg could work. You can wrap the rope around the table leg and then attach the carabiner to the rope. Hey in an emergency this is better than jumping down or tying sheets together.

I started with an Everbilt 32 strand diamond braid polypropylene rope.
Heavy duty 230 lbs capacity
1/2 inch x 50 feet.
Finished rope ladder is 17 feet long with 15 knots.
I made this for a second floor escape.

The drop from my bedroom to the floor is approx 60ft (18.5M approx) - so I assume I would need double the rope length using this method - as the ladder halves the rope length - using two parallel strands . So 120ft (35M).
I actually bought a real climbing rope and some thick gloves so I don't burn my hands going down the rope, but I still haven't figured out where to safely tie it off. I'm thinking of getting one of those climbing hooks and putting it in the hole to my attic.
How do I go back up,,in case I forgot to grab my phone batteries

I like this video. Can be lifesaving for its intent. Senior people cannot rapel down easily. In my country commonest scenario is to escape fire in a highrise building or apartment (easier). This maybe a once in lifetime event. It is much easier to carry a coiled fire retardant twine or fireproof cable than a bulky rope. Just my thought. For home purposes other equipment would needed.
how long is the rope after you've finished the knotting? Im using custom made rappelling device with hasty harness and 5mm kevlar laced rope. that rope would probably work great with any belay device (some are lightweight and not that big either) used as descender...
If possible talk to a local firefighter and get info from him or her don't trust Google some times you can be mislead

110kg is pretty low for a rope. take off 30% per knot....doesnt leave much error.

Ya you should take this video down. A higher capacity rope should used, although the knots would be fine. The single most dangerous part is tying off to a window frame. That piece will probably hold 50 pounds at best. Ropes must be tied to something strong and heavy inside room that cannot travel through window
I bought some rope like this from my local hardware (Bunnings in Australia). It may look like climbing rope but instead of having strands of rope inside it is just rolled plastic ribbon. The carabiner isn't rated nor does it have a locking gate. You can also see the join at the bottom of the window frame where you are telling people to place the rope. Perhaps you should make a new video using the proper equipment. You should certainly delete this video before someone gets killed following the advice in it. You acknowledge that it contains incorrect information and you have that stupid disclaimer at the beginning saying not to do the things contained in the video and that it is only for entertainment purposes, why don't you just delete the video?
What are the knots for in your double rope?
If the knots are just meant as "stop" where you can place your feet on either side of the rope: wouldn't a single fatter rope be more usefull?
If the thought is to use it as ladder, then you should NOT line out the 2 ropes at equal lengts: but have each rope differ in lenght so that you create a ladder that us can actually (hope to) use. such as this one: th-cam.com/video/GRh-1sQ9UsE/w-d-xo.html

You are right, the window frame will not hold me. I was thinking using my bed frame.
Regarding using it, well.. hopefully NEVER and 'knock on wood'!
But i prefer having an alternative escape possibility instead of jumping out the window. I grant you, this is not a perfect solution but it is better than nothing.

Don't safe the rope on the widow and use a dynamic rope. If you use a normel rope and you do a node you halves the holding mass wif every node did you do.
**BEWARE** This rope may look like a climbing rope but I doubt it... I don't usually comment on videos but thought worth mentioning. I bought a rope lole thos from a diy store NOT FOR CLIMBING ACTIVITIES in the uk... there is a WARNING on the packaging NOT to use for CLIMBING. Im not a climbing expert but recalling some climbing lessons from years ago I kniw that not all ripes are suitable for climbing. BTW. that clip does not look lime a karibener as no gate lock screw thing. BEWARE of hazardous videos people! ☺
Climbing ropes are for climbing, incase of slipping and falling they stretch. But for abseiling a standard rope should work fine. A locking carabiner would be better, but the spring carabiner is rated at 55 stones in weight and would work in an emergency. I would want a more secure anchor point though and a harness.

you should take a repalling course then, you will find out theres alot mistake and false ideas with in this Video !!
OMG, you 'll get yourself seriously injured, in the best case scenario. If you can't afford to get some proper training, at least get some basic knowledge from google please. Then practice; however with climbing gear and not with car-towing or camping crap from hardware stores.
