      NOTE the New York, California, or Vegas locations have never received a Michelin star. The food quality wasn’t high enough. (The original Hong Kong restaurant lost its star in 2021.)

    This place looks so good. With Ping Pang Pong and KJ Dim Sum close by, there is some competition.

    • @VegaswithShin
      @VegaswithShin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tim Ho Wan definitely stands up. I go to KJ pretty often as well but don't make it to PPP all that much. I should give them a try

    Everything looks super delicious. Been craving some dim sum. Searched and there is a Tim Ho Wans in Irvine, CA not too far from me, will try to make it there this week. Wrote down all your suggestions also. Great work as always Shin!! Thanks, and happy eating!!

    • @VegaswithShin
      @VegaswithShin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The one in Irvine I hear from my SoCal friends is not as good as the other Tim Ho Wans but let me know if it's worth it for you!

      @@VegaswithShin The Irvine location has a happy hour, tried 4 items today and was stuffed for under $30. Jasmine tea and lava sesame seed balls were fantastic, BBQ pork buns really good, everything else was average. Would not drive too far out of the way again but would eat there again. Will try the Palms location someday. I did read reviews on Irvine location, and you are right, they have had some issues. Thanks again Shin!!

    I'm not sure anything other than the baked Char Siu Bao sets Tim Ho Wan apart from a lot of dim sum places. That put them on the map. Have you been to Din Tai Fung? I'm sure Paradise Dynasty will be coming to Vegas soon. They seem to follow DTF around the globe, LOL.

    • @VegaswithShin
      @VegaswithShin  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Something about the amount of sugar they're using on the top of the bun just somehow makes it more magical and the quality of the ingredients just can't be outdone with technique alone. I have been to Din Tai Fung, the original states side one in Arcadia actually back when I lived in SoCal. A Paradise Dynasty would be cool to have here. I'd definitely check them out. Thanks for watching!

    i liked how you tell it the way it is. Many of the classic dim sum items, as you pointed out, seemed quite standard. I think they definitely are trying to extract as much as they can from that michelin star

    • @VegaswithShin
      @VegaswithShin  ปีที่แล้ว

      You got it! The BBQ pork buns and the desserts were easily the stars for me. Otherwise, relatively standard dishes but made with good quality ingredients. Thanks for watching!

    I'm always hesitant on Asian restaurants inside casinos being authentic or white washed.

    • @VegaswithShin
      @VegaswithShin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a mixed bag at the larger resorts. You got places like Ping Pang Pong that is about as authentic as anything you get in Chinatown, then plenty of places that serve a more fusion style of dish. Tim Ho Wan uses the same recipes as its original Hong Kong shop so I'd say the flavors are pretty authentic. Thanks for watching!

    What sucks about dim sum places is that it is not good for groups of 4 because they serve 3 pieces on most items. So u would have to place double the orders which can be expensive.

    Was just out there... Chinese food is about the only thing out there...in Resorts, their food court only offers 2 American dishes out of 20 places..., every hotel is showcasing Chinese food and if you want American, its gonna cost ya over $100 for two... Chinese food is ok, but I don't want to eat it everyday all day....that coupled with Vegas has become a mini Disneyland with kids evvvvvrywhere....We won't be returning.😟

    • @VegaswithShin
      @VegaswithShin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may want to start checking out Downtown. A couple of 21 and over only properties like Circa and a lot of great eats too!

      @@VegaswithShin It was soooo hot, didn't get a chance to get to old Vegas...was supposed to go zip lining but when we arrived it was a dust storm so it was closed... if ever, I go again, We will stay on Fremont street somewhere with good food, decent prices and not Chinese food 🤢...Vegas has really changed and not for the better...I hear they are planning to put in an 80 space arcade with video games ON THE STRIP!!🤦...all they need to do now is change the name from Las Vegas strip to the "Chinese Disney world"
