The choice is easy for me. I have never really been a a Spyderco fan but have carried a Buck 112 or 110 almost daily since 1974 when I got my first 112.

I like my beautiful and functional, made in USA, brown burlap Micarta BUCK 110 Slim Pro. It carries very light and small in pocket. BUCK has the best and forever warranty and no questions asked. You have to break all BUCKS in. Mine opens easier than it did nib but it still takes two hands for a safe closure, for me anyhow. Who cares? It's a working/hunting knife. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the cutout logo on the clip which sometimes hangs up when putting it into the pocket.

So weird. My 2 full sized folders I keep in my rotation are the Buck 110 TRX slim Pro, and a Spyderco Stretch 2. 2 of my all time fav blade shapes ever made.

I can see by the comments that no one in here has experience with the Spyderco Stretch. For me, it's my favorite EDC knife of all time. It's slim, fits my hand like a glove, you can choke up on it, and the blade shape is absolutely perfect for me. It holds a good edge in vg-10, and it sharpens up easily. I love the volcano grip FRN handles for their functionality, and it's not so "special" that I'd ever feel bad about all the hard use I put it through. I like how solid the knife locks up, but I can close it one handed just as safely and easily as any other locking system I've ever tried. I don't know a whole lot about the Buck 110, but for me, the Spyderco Stretch is just about perfect.

I love my Spydercos. Stretch is a great design. It's super slicey and the hump on the back of the blade speaks to me. That being said, getting an S30V blade, micarta handle, made in America for $89 is hard to beat.

    • @Timothius82
      @Timothius82 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@drewpfeif5028 it's a good value for certain, but that doesn't make it a more functionality knife. I'd be thrilled to own a 110, but it's not gonna take the Stretches place in my pocket.

I like the buck. They need to move into screws instead of rivets though, but still a great design. People are just opposed to giving buck a chance because it's your grandad knife and quality was lacking in the late 90s buck is updating and revamping themselves and I like their knives and steel People can day 420hc is trash but it's not it's a useful steel but is not a premium steel most people dont use their knives to justify 20cv but spend what you want buy what you like just dont overlook a company because their not the new kid on the block with a new name Buck has done this 37 yr old great I have a buck 110, a buck 841 burlap micarta s30v, a buck marksmen 154cm steel and a buck 102 They are all quality knives and I personally love the history and tradition of Buck knives

I like BUCKS but I also like my Spydercos. But I used to think that they were fugly also. Then I got, and used, my first USA made Spyderco; and that changed my mind. Hey, I also think that the A-10 Warthog is beautiful, so what do I know?

@@stevejfromak842 Spyderco may produce the best knives in the world, but I would rather die than own one.
A-10 can be pretty. It has its function and place, but a spyderco knife... gah... just no. It looks so wrong. It's like having a round shaped ax.
On the other hand, classic Buck is the most beautiful knife in the world. Only Benchmade's Crooked River can be compared to it. Buck is the real knife, the rest are just tools.

@@damyr LOL! I don't believe that I ever made the claim that Spydercos are the best in the world?
I would never even try to make anybody change their own personal tastes. It's your money and you need to spend it how you want to.
I still have my first 110 that I bought while serving in the US NAVY, (for $7.00 btw), fifty two years ago. It has always served me well over the years from Vietnam, to the crossing the line south of Singapore, north to the Bering sea. I don't use it anymore because I wouldn't want to lose it. My kind of new brown burlap Micarta 110 slim pro has taken it's place in my rotation.
Also, imo, the A-10 is always beautiful.

@@stevejfromak842 No, you didn't say spyderco are the best, but even if they are I wouldn't own one. I don't really hate spyderco knives, but if someone would gift me one, I'd hate that person. :)
I told you... Buck all the way. I love mine Buck 110. I have it for 25 years now and, even if it's all beaten up, I cherish it and I wouldn't change it for the whole Spyderco factory.
Now I only use my old trusty SAK Climber for all purposes (and few fixed blades), tho I like watching videos about knives and see what's new.
Btw, man, you're really old. I thought Vietnam veterans were all died off.
