    I aplaud you for your patience and your talent to make beautiful things out of tiny scraps! You are amazing Samantha, everything you make is not only fabulous, but also has a story behind it and you always use the prettiest fabrics and notions! You are an inspiration! 💕💕😘😘

      That’s such a kind and thoughtful comment - thank you Arietta. I love taking time over the small details of things (a reason I’m not sure I’m suited to a weekly posting schedule!!) With the fabrics so many are out of production now so they are extra precious (to me anyway!) 💗🎀💐

    I always keep my scraps of fabric bc I may need them for altering or fixing my dresses. I never really needed one of them, though... But your way to use them is so much more joyful and useful!

      Oh thank you so much for watching! Patchwork is definitely one of those projects to have going on in the background, if you know what I mean. Then it comes as a pleasant surprise when one day it’s actually finished. And, because of all the colours, it goes with everything! 💐

      Thank you very much Laura! It turns out that it’s a memory skirt not only for myself. I keep finding people studying it intently then leaping to point at a patch and say ‘I had a dress in that fabric’! It was a bit disconcerting at first but I’m starting to get used to it 😄 Thank you very much for watching another episode!

    ADORABLE! I have dozens of fabric rectangles that I had precut to make masks during the pandemic (before they became easily available in stores) that I distributed to essential workers (the delivery guys loved that I left a basket of masks & snacks on my porch for them). I think I'll use them to make a patchwork skirt. Thank you for the inspiration!

      @Samanthalovestosew  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      And now you’ve inspired me! I never thought of all those masks. Like you, my mother made lots and still has quite a few. They could all be used in patchwork. I bet those delivery guys loved your basket of masks and snacks. They were worked off their feet during the pandemic. That’s so thoughtful of you. And thank you very much for watching and encouraging!

    Such a cute skirt, and the jumper too of course ❤. Here in Sweden it's been raining icy rain constantly too, and no nice spring days in sight, I still wear my winter jackets and waterproof winter boots, sigh..

      Thank you very much 🥰 And I hope you won’t mind me saying it actually helps to know it’s not only the UK plunged Narnia-like in a forever winter of icy rain. We had one tantalising Spring day. Just the one. Then the icy rain moved back in. Waterproof winter boots … as a dog owner, I’m very familiar with those! Let’s hope it’s Spring for both of us soon!

    How those tiny patch pieces work together is a triumph! Loving the fullness and length of the frill 👌 i imagine the skirt must have a good weight and drape to it?
    It moves very nicely as you stroll along in front of the pretty cottages. Mind you, at any moment i expected that blue front door to open and the inhabitant yelling 'get the # off my # front garden you ## grockle !!' 🤬
    You are a saint of a daughter, we've mentioned it before many times, and now my mother is twiddling her thumbs in a care home, I'm trying to selflessly encourage her to take up the wool and needles 😇 simply to keep her occupied, of course.
    But, alas, at 89 I'm getting the message that she's somewhat disinclined 🤔 Fear not, i shall persevere!!!

    • @Samanthalovestosew
      @Samanthalovestosew  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It’s funny you mention it because one door did open 😆 But the lady who came out knows me vaguely from a Pilates class we used to do. I could literally see her face working to swap an expression of annoyance to one of surprised delight (she didn’t entirely manage!) to see me.
      You’ll be even keener to get your mum knitting once you’re on Exmoor. You must come with me, my mum and our woolly friend Linda to the Jon Arbon wool sale. There’s a social invitation that’s impossible to resist! 😂 Believe me life doesn’t get more exciting! 😃

    Is patchwork really a 'little project'? I imagine alot of patience required. I know you have patience and persistence in abundance. I love the waste not want not approach and I also like the idea of putting your dressmaking memories into one skirt. Looks very effective and has many talking points. Take care Samantha.

    Your patchwork skirt is beautiful. I was very surprised when the reveal was presented. I didn't expect a long skirt with a flounce. It is so creative and it turned out so lovely. I like your shoes, they look like sandals from the 1940s, where did you find them?? Today I saw a TH-cam creator, Gina Seams. She recorded a trip that she took to London to go to the Stitch Festival. She says it's a huge sewing event where people go and buy different fabrics. I wondered if perhaps you went to the Stitch Festival in London? I love seeing your two babies. Thanks for sharing.

    • @Samanthalovestosew
      @Samanthalovestosew  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you very much! I knew I’d want to wear the skirt more often if it was long and flouncy. I prefer to be covered from head to toe! I nearly put in a caption saying that the shoes came from Memery Shoes (in Denmark) but I worried people would think it was a paid promotion. You are right - they are based on 1940s shoes. I have a dark yellow pair too. They are super comfortable. Memery are my favourite supplier of vintage shoes and boots because I can even dog walk in them without my feet getting rubbed! You know I haven’t been to the Stitch Festival despite often being in London (where my father lives). I think it’s because I have so much fabric already and know that I’d buy more! One day I will go. And I’m very pleased you enjoy seeing the dogs. They are indeed my babies!
