      A friend of my guitar teacher once said he bumped into Angus and Malcolm in a cafe in the US about a decade ago. Went up to say "Hi" and just to thank them and walk away, but they basically invited him to sit down with them for a coffee and a chat for half an hour. Another guy I met at a music festival I played at said that back in the 70's he saw three guys playing tennis in the next door neighbour's back yard court, so he thought to join them, and they welcomed him without question to make up the 4th for doubles, and it turns out it was the Angus, Malcolm and another Young brother who were visiting a friend for a few days.

    Angus seems like a great guy, and a heck of a guitarist. I admit though, Malcolm is the one I really listened to, that groove he had, man it's hard to beat, and Malcolm really influenced me to find that groove in my playing, though I fall short for sure. I always liked how humble the guys were, and they appreciated their fans. I admit, I had a hard time after Bon passed, I really loved that era. What a fantastic interview!!!! I love the band, but Angus is my favorite of all the guys. He’s the reason I picked up a guitar. While everyone else was listening to Christina A. and the Backstreet Boys - I was listening to AC/DC.
    I was so shy ( still am) as a teenager to the point it was unhealthy. AC/DC made those years enriching. The band and especially Angus was the reason I became a band nerd, a book nerd, a music nerd, and an Art nerd.
    I had my 5 friends ( still have them today after 21 years) and AC/DC. Back In Black, The Jack, and Thunderstruck are the 3 songs I listen to most while doing home work for my Anatomy and Physics class.
    Thunderstruck is the song I was listening to while getting my first speeding ticket.
    Cop: Where are you going to in such a hurry?
    Me: My gas pedal was Thunderstrucked
    I could go on, but I’ve spoken enough. I can’t reiterate enough as to how much I love this band. I’d love to meet Angus before I die. I don’t care about an autograph, nor do I care about a picture. I’d just love to converse with him extensively about the History of Music.

    Angus Young was the most electric high energy lead guitarist in the world. This guy knew how to put on a hell of a show and was an amazing guitarist. My first guitar back in somewhere around 93' was gifted to me by a man who was a close friend to my father. Out of a hundred of guitars on his walls I gravitated towards a 1976 Gibson SG with double humbuckers because of how much I adored Angus Young. I still have it until this day and it's worth a buttload of money but I wouldn't sell it even if I was on the streets living under a bridge.

    I was born in 1980 as well. First AC/DC songs I heard was Highway to Hell and Girls Got Rhythm on one of my dad's mix tapes when I was 6 or 7, and I was a fan from that very moment! I remember being on the bus in first grade with my walkman, listening to it and the 6th graders wanted to know what I was listening to, so I showed them, and they were like "This kid's listening to AC/DC... your mom lets you listen to this stuff?" :D

  • @brianm9902
    @brianm9902 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It's a testament to how good the music is to still sound fresh in 2020 I am actually listening now to High Voltage, it still sounds fresh, then listen to some 80's Metal particularly the days of hairspray it sounds dated, but 70's AC/DC will not get old, but I am 55 this will crack many fans up, about Fly on the Wall people started to say they are only 3 chords band and people started to turn away from the band , this was the time bands like Van Halen, Maiden , Metallica where just tearing it , but Rock and Roll does not have to be complicated to be good, and AC/DC is not easy to replicate, the backend of Mal Phil and Cliff, is one of the best rock rhythm section in the business, I seen AC/DC 3 times sadly not with Bon but that first show in 1981 For Those About to Rock Tour, that first song Hell Bells when those three came into the song it was like a train running you over crazy rhythm then Angus comes it like the icing on the cake, then Brian well just added icing on the cake lol

    • @TinyTV_DK
      @TinyTV_DK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And WHAT a nice "icing on the cake" Brian was :-D I absolutely love your words man! And I think you are absolutely right in saying that "rock n' roll does not have to be complicated". I also love The Ramones and yeah they are all about 1-2-3-4 rock-punk-rock as well. But damn they were good in there own garagerock way

    This is a great interview. I actually met Angus himself when I was 8 years old. They were on tour for Stiff Upper Lip and the Make-A-Wish Foundation had planned a trip for me and my folks to go see AC/DC perform live in Edmonton at the Skyreach Centre (now called the Northlands Coliseum). We got backstage passes and met the band (Cliff, Brian, Malcolm, Angus and Phil). It was the most amazing night of my life. And the opening act was Wide Mouth Mason. Even have a few pictures and autographs that I kept for all these years. I look back at them and still remember that amazing night.

    Why is AC/DC'S song highway to hell still so good to this very day while i can name endless reasons I'm just going to name the two main reasons and that's 1. Angus Young's legendary opening riff because when you here that you automatically know it's highway to hell and 2. Bon Scott's trademark vocals that cat like yowling sound that made him the greatest frontman of all-time. That's why highway to hell both the song and the entire album still sound so good over 41 years later. It's a timeless classic that will never go out of style.

      Wow! I would have LOVED to see AC/DC on that tour! Razors Edgwe was, as I also say in the interview, one of the first AC/DC albums that was "my AC/DC album". Not my uncles, not my older cousins, but "mine". But I was only 10-11 years old at the time and my parents were not big rock fans. So my first AC/DC live experience came yeaaars later on the "Rock Or Bust" tour :-)

    IMO highway to hell, back in black, and razors edge are those very special albums that you just don’t see everyday. A lot of people buy albums from a couple songs they like and eventually accept the other songs. The first time I heard highway to hell, I listened to it beginning to end with only intending to listen to highway to hell. I got much more than I wanted to begin with. Same with back in black/you shook me all night long/hells bells leading me to the entire back in black, and thunderstruck leading me to the entire razors edge.
