      Luckily tjey mever changed it so even if you did you could buy the exact same one brand new and you cant do that with a 99 honda civic still. They dont make them anymore. The civic has changed over all those years and this bike has not. So you could buy a 2005 model and if anything breaks you can sourse parts from before or after 2005 up until today and likely beyond. Harley has changed motors several times sijce the tw came out

    The TW is not a dirt bike. Never was. It is a trail bike. It will go places a dirt bike will not. At the same time it will never keep up with a dirt bake as far as aggressive riding / speed. I love my TW but I know what it is and what to expect from it. It will go absolutely anywhere but you're not going to get there fast.

      Exactly. I like my TW for exploring hiking and just putting around. I wear a helmet and hiking boots and can go check out a mine or take a dip in a river whenever I want. On my more serious bikes I dress in a lot more gear (and it gets hot). The TW has its place.

      I have a 2012 z1000 and a 19 kx100 for serious trail riding..but I'm going to get a tw200 for a public hunting land rig to go down some trails that cars or even side by sides have trouble going down due to all the brush overhang..already found the perfect offroad tow trailer I want haul with it..I'm sure the tw will serve all the purposes I am going to use it for and it has a low seat height I can teach my wife to ride

    This bike is also great if you ride alone, it will keep you out of serious trouble cause you'll know the limits pretty quickly. Just don't go down hills you don't know you can't get back up lol... It can do single track, its happiest on two track and does back highways pretty good. If you ride to just get around the mountains and not necessarily going balls to the wall , its perfect. BTW ALWAYS carry a garbage bag. If nothing else if you find yourself on private property you can least say hey I picked up garbage at least lol.

    Even though it's definitely not a high performance bike I still ride it hard out on the trails and have lots of fun. I've upgraded the suspension front and rear, changed the front tire to a shinko 241, and went up two teeth on the rear sprocket and now the bike is just a beast when it comes to climbing through the worst terrain. It definitely doesn't have great handling compared to my yz but I can put a beginner rider on it and they'll be able to tackle intermediate trails like nothing.

    • @TheAnnoyingBoss
      @TheAnnoyingBoss 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because of the tires this bike is good for many many areas where i live that are fun. I live in the desert and there is sandy washes and you need a big ballon tire it makes a world of difference. But sadly that also makes it sorta like a more offroad specific dual sport. But luckily where i live thats actually useful because about 80% of all the land around me is public land so i can actually use a lot of shortcuts by using a bike like this. With tbis bime i could chop my commute to the nearest sonic in half

    Just took part in a AMA dual sport and adventure ride this past weekend. Did 170 miles on the adventure route with my 2014 TW and there were several TWs on the dual sport route. The fact it is so short makes it way more confidence inspiring. I'd take it over my DR650 for gnarly stuff knowing I can easily dab a foot or pick it up if it drops.

    • @phild9813
      @phild9813 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’d tend to disagree. Suspension has come a ways, EFI “invented” and sorted out, electric start common, more useable power than you can imagine. And all this accomplished at pretty minimal weight cost. Having said that, can you do everything on a 90s bike that you can do on today’s bikes? Absolutely. But it’s a lot more comfortable and reliable now.

      The XT is a little better on the road (cruising at 65) but not quite as forgiving on the trail (still very good though). Honestly whichever one you can find would be fine and if you have a choice just go with the better deal. You won't be disappointed unless you expected highway speeds. Neither do that well but as I said if you are going to do lots of four lane I would choose the XT.
