  • The funeral and burial of the late Aidan McAnespie who was shot and murdered by British Crown Forces in Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone on Sunday 21st February 1988 whilst walking to a gaelic football match at Aghaloo GFC.
    Aidan's funeral took place on Tuesday 23rd February 1988 in St Mary's Church, Aughnacloy with burial afterwards at St Patrick's Church, Clara, Co Monaghan.
    The ceremony was officiated by Cardinal Tomas O'Fiaich, Primate of All Ireland and Archbishop of Armagh (who cut his visit to New York, USA short in order to be at the funeral) and Aghaloo P.P. Fr Seamus McManus.

    Never forget what British Forces did in this Country and in 2023 the soldier who carried out this murder is still a free man after a trial that should have ended in him receiving a Prison sentence.

      British forces have also colluded with loyalist terrorist in countless murders which were sanctioned by the state at the highest levels.

      British Forces and in particular the SAS did an outstanding job.

      I got told the safety catch on the L7A2 GPMG was suspect. They've all since been modified since Afghanistan.

      @@davidravenscroft9235 Are you telling me this was a total accident and we should believe there was no intent on the soldiers part to shoot Aidan Mc Anespie or is this a point in regard to the weapon you referred too ?

      ​@KC 1972 the soldier went to trial and was found guilty of killing this Irish man

    That so sad hope the soldier that shot adain get life in jail
