    Really enjoyed this review, Jonathan! Have you ever thought of making a video about the trumpets cornet's or flugelhorns that you have that you will never sell? Always love your videos!

      Great suggestion! And I do like the suggestions; great ideas for future vids. Thank you! :)

    I've been on Jupiter's website for over an hour trying to find that flugalhorn but they don't show it anywhere! Is it an antique that they don't make anymore or what?

    • @JonathanMilam1
      @JonathanMilam1  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      D, it’s not an antique, but I believe Jupiter has discontinued it. BUT I’ve seen several at Reverb.com (a great source for used brass), EBay, and other places. At anywhere near $500-700 it’s a good value. Dillon Music also has a similar flugel that they sell for $475 new! Unbelievable. It’s a VERY close copy of Yamaha’s classic 631 Flugel. I reviewed it in a video last year, but it’s hard for me to paste url on my phone. Keep in touch - and good luck! :)

      Here's a video featuring the Dillon Flugel, and their web page. The Jupiter and the Dillon are both good copies of the Yamaha 631.

    Yamaha FH, Puje , Jupiter, cornet ( I am just a FH geek, very impressed with Puje tho) ….btw: I’ve heard the Manchester Fluegel horn Trent sells is pretty sweet for a low dollar investment. You always entertain us thank you so much 😊

    • @JonathanMilam1

      Thank you. The Puje is an unbelievable fun horn to play. I'm not even sure why; but it's a great horn. And I think (I'm not positive, but I do believe) I'm going to ask Charlie Melk to make the Puje so that I can mount a Strad 37 cornet bell (which I have waiting) and a Benge Cornet bell (which I have waiting). Then I'll have, potentially, a fun little trumpet with all-note tuning that has a big, copperish bell, a Strad 37 bell, or a lead Benge bell... How cool will that be? :)

    Nice vid! The Jupiter flugel sounded sweeter to my ears between the two, but that Pugee (sp?) with the Reeves mouthpiece was SUPER clear!! And great moustache by the way, hahhaha!

    Hey Jonathan! Hope you and yours are well doing well. I just browsed your channel to see if you had ever compared a CarolBrass flugelhorn to your Jupiter or Yamaha, or any others you own or have owned. To my surprise, no. Do you ever plan on acquiring one to compare with your other flugels? Take care and keep having fun with your horns!

    • @JonathanMilam1

      I had a CB flugel years ago. Very well built but I struggled with its intonation. Since then, I’ve had several trumpets and enjoyed most all of them very much. There’s a vid of me and that flugel at TH-cam. No plans to pick up another one, but I’m a bargain hunter, so who knows?? :)

    • @bruin4937
      @bruin4937 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JonathanMilam1 Sorry about that! I found your play test of a CarolBrass flugel - thank you. Regarding your "bargain hunter" comment? That's the spirit! Wishing you "Good Horn Hunting." :-) Oh, by the way, that Super Chops mouthpiece? It seems to facilitate smoother phrasing and more seamless range transition for you, and your tone sounds even smoother with it. It's a winner.

    • @JonathanMilam1
      @JonathanMilam1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The SuperChops is a good flugel mouthpiece; majoring in intonation helpfulness. :) I recently got a Benge 5 flugel piece, shaped quite like the SuperChops (but a more normal rim); it's also a intonation helper. I play the flugel pretty rarely and intonation proves to be quite the concern for me, as you can tell. :) Thanks for commenting - glad you found that vid (it's one of my very first TH-cam vids!). Take care, Bruin; have a great week.

    I know you like Trents Manchester Flügelhorn but I gotta think this 631 is not quite it the league as this Yamaha? I’ve always appreciated the Yamaha sound over most horns. I like the Puje a lot but it seems neither fish or foul I like the. If I though I could approach a flugel sound from the Puje I’d be interested.

    • @JonathanMilam1
      @JonathanMilam1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Puje sounds fairly flugel-like with a deep TF mouthpiece; but it's bell isn't quite large enough to do a complete flugel sound. This Jupiter was a nice flugel, to my way of thinking.

      Michael; Greetings! :) Actually, I came into a little money about 15 months ago. Not a lot, but enough to buy and sell a few horns. My dear wife is watching me with the usual disdain/curiosity/shock/doubt... :) I keep telling her I'm in a positive equity situation but the brass is a bit illiquid. :) She's giving me a long rope. My goal is not to hang myself with it. :) Good question, by the way. And thanks for listening and commenting. :) As you can tell, I have a blast with the vids. Hence the little mustache. Which, by the way, is much better than the ones I've attempted to grow in the past. :)

    As of 2024, the Dillon is still available brand new for $475. It may be the only thing in the whole world that is not massively inflating.

      Well said. I'd love to try the Dillon Piccolo trumpet; I'm wondering if it is the same quality - and it's price is similarly impressive (or shocking?). I really DON'T need a picc though. :)

      I bought a Dillon Rose Brass flugelhorn. It's intonation was quite good, but it was kinda heavy and a bit clunky. The 631G is much more refined.

    • @JonathanMilam1
      @JonathanMilam1  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@IndianOutlaw1870 I've read that Dillon does change their manufacturers occasionally, but mine is SO much like a Yamaha I would be hard pressed to tell a difference... Except that I've had 3 or 4 of the Yamaha's and a few played stuffy for me. The only obvious difference to me is that the Dillon uses a Bach leadpipe and the Yamaha leadpipe is their own. The valves appear SO similar. Then again, the third slide trigger could be different. Nonetheless, your info is good to know. Thank you for posting! :)
