I found that while I was backpacking, I healed a lot of my eating disorder just by being in a more positive environment and enjoying the company of other people by cooking with them. It opened me up to trying so many new meals as everyone has such unique food interests which you can be inspired by.

Backpacking was INSANELY healing to my relationship with food and my body. I took a two-week backpacking trip in high-school and for a while after coming back home from the woods I felt really good. It took me a long time to come back to that feeling of harmony with my body, but the other day I was laying in bed and feeling achey and bloated and I realized the reason backpacking felt so good was because it put me in a headspace where I wasn't thinking of my body as a performance or a tool the way I was conditioned to, but rather as just my body, my place of shelter. I live in my body, and in order to keep it running in a way that lets me feel comfortable inside it without aches, and in order for me to do the things I want to do with it, like dance or rollerskate or backpack, I have to feed it good food and allow it to move and take up space. Such a simple idea, but it feels so rattling when it really clicks and you get the authentic desire to take care of your body for the sake of taking care of it, not as a means to an end.

totally agree with you guys...I went on a similar trip when I was in high school and it was insanely healing. No mirrors, just my body moving in ways I never imagined it could. I was able to enjoy so many foods without guilt for the first time in a very long time.

Lately i have been feeling more protected in a sense and it is making me cry rn. I have come out as a trans girl these past few months and it has been so hard knowing being trans is my truth but being able to dress in women’s clothes, growing my hair out and start wearing make up etc makes me soo happy. I’m 19 now and know this is necessary to become more myself in this lifetime. I owe it to my 12 yr old self to continue healing. And ive actually been feeling better and better. Thankyou Hitomi 🦋 i love just cereal and plant milk with fruit in the morning it makes me feel satisfied and nourished and it really helps me to start the day off simple not thinking too much about food! Ive also picked up a keyboard and hope i’ll start to follow tutorials of my favorite songs. Peace 💜✨

I agree with you Hitomi ! Food is for the most part sustenance. That should come first, then satisfaction. Our body is our temple and food is also spiritual in that way, nourishment keeps our mind, body and soul aligned. Sadly, food is used as spiritual warfare as consumerism becomes ubiquitous. Your messages are inspiring, Thank you so much!

THANK YOU 'Tomi. You've encouraged me out of a painful hole I was beginning to tumble back into. at a time like this, when a lot of people are unintentionally using food to numb and distract when isolated at home or out of their usual routine, this conversation is important. for 12+ years my relationship with food has ebbed and flowed, and continues to do so today. in a world where food is unavoidable, it's so so vital to continue to grow and work on your relationship with nourishing yourself EVERY DAY. AND TEACH YOUR CHILDREN. Teach your friends! You're body is always on your side. It will always forgive you. It will always care for you. It feels everything you feel. You don't need to hate it, or avoid it, hide it, shame it.

Hi Hitomi, i just wanna say how much i appreciate your message of love and mindfulness.
I’m 19 and at the moment i find myself struggling with my body image, and it directly affects my relationship with food. i absolutely love to cook and have been doing so often, i plan out my meals and really put effort on making healthy and nourishing food for me and my family.
However, by the time I sit down to eat all that goes through my head are negative and deprecating thoughts. I end a meal feeling overly self-conscious and have nothing but regret to have consumed “so many calories”
It hurts me profundly to put myself through that mindset.
Food is inspiring and we’re blessed to be able to cook, smell and taste the endless amounts of elements this Earth gives us.
Still that voice is loud in my head and I struggle to find a way to ignore it.
Again, thank you for sharing your experience and being vulnerable to your audience.
Hope your light can touch many as it has touched me.

Waw I genuinely thought I was the only vegan that has a hard time digesting chickpeas as everyone in the vegan community is usually using them in such diverse ways! I tried chickpea pasta, pre-cooked ones, home cooked ones, burgers... they always made me feel so bad. And even left behind a bad body odeur.. The same with most beans aswell! Now I usually try to get my protein from lentils, nuts like cashews & almonds or tofu and tempeh. Thank you for the kind and honest talk about self love related to food, I could resonate so deeply with every word. Sending you so much love, light and abundance

The journey of self healing is so complicated but beautiful in itself, I too have struggled with a lot of eating disorders. currently, Ortharexia and binge eating is a struggle, but im learning. I had a flare of bulimia when I was bed ridden with cancer. ooooft, let me tell you, food and cancer is an endless downwards spiral. weight checks, throwing up, eating for comfort ten feeling guily... Surprisingly, not eating enough was never a problem for me. but my inner voice always had a probkem with that. The mind can be so mean sometimes, I need to learn to be kinder to myself. Looking back I'm thankful, as the extra weight was what probably what helped me bounce back faster. Now however, im enlightened. ive began healing my body through food, im going to university to study further and now, a year into remission I've found a whole new meaning to life that begins with the nourishment of food and ends with me feeling fullfilled. happy. HEALTHY and that's the best gift, right?
thank you for this video, I connect with you on so many levels. Sending you love from Scotland xx

Love this video and your channel, in general ~✨~ it makes me v grateful to see that you are so open to sharing your experience with mental health to heal others, it is much needed at this time. Something that I have found that has helped me with my relationship to food is bringing more awareness to my inner dialogue, especially I am having thoughts that may be distorted or coming from a lower frequency. I am able to recognize this most when I use my breath to return to the present. Then I am able to shift my thought to something lighter and more aligned with the truth 💕
(Ex: I'm hungry but I shouldn't eat anything else today, I might gain weight -> My body is telling me that I need to eat, food is fuel at its core and it is not going to harm me/ I am grateful I have access to things that will nourish my body)

I used to have a really difficult relationship with food and went through both bulimia and anorexia along with really bad body dysmorphia and over exercising. I now let myself eat anything that's vegan without any additional restrictions. This has made me enjoy my food a lot more instead of focusing on the details like how many calories are in it. Since my job and school exhaust me so much, my lazy way of getting nutrients is drinking smoothies and cold pressed juices along with eating soups. From time to time, I'll buy a salad. As for bloating, I only bloat when I'm on my moon cycle and the few days before it. My digestive system seems happy with all the vegan food I put in it, but it does get upset when I overdo it on the hot sauce. It's a battle between my palate and my stomach/intestines lol

It is wonderful you have found this way as food is really light frequency. Higher frequency foods, light are one. Light is healing. Tip; if you soak your Chia seeds in water a few minutes before using it helps release nutrients and also will not bloat after ingesting. They expand quite a bit, so soak your Chia. If you are cooking macro remember balance of Yin/Yang in energy of food. Peace.

Thank you Hitomi for these really good quality videos, I can feel your thoughtfulness coming through them, your videos always calm me down and make me feel grateful to be alive today. Thank you also, for speaking a bit on how you feel about your body, we have a similar body and I see people always say you are so beautiful in the comments (true), people often talk about how they wish they looked like you because then they would have no body insecurities to worry about. It makes me feel weird because body build wise I do look like you and yet I am unhappy. People tell me I am pretty and have a nice body but I feel like no matter what anyone says I will always be insecure. It's not very uplifting but that's how I feel, it's nice to see someone feel the same and talk about it, especially when they look like me. I am still learning that my body is a temple and should be treated as such, it is a slow process with many ups and downs. Just glad to be reminded that I am not alone on that journey and my feelings are valid. 💓🌺

I will definitely try the miso soup and artichoke toasts ❤ Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experience on food, healing and mental health ❤ I'm recovering from eating disorders (anorexia nervosa and bulimia) and it was not an easy journey, but now I'm feeling more and more peaceful and what helps me the most is to say blessings, to breathe, to be more conscious when I'm eating ❤ If I'm really happy while I'm eating I will definitely look like the ratatouille movie or I will say "wow this is so yummyyyyy" and I will do little dance moves and smile, this way I feel more connected to my inner child ❤ (sorry for my bad english ❤)
