I have the Judge and the P.D. poly, as well as an S&W Governor. I love this 45/410 configuration. The Pachmeyer Diamond grip is an excellent aftermarket replacement for the stock Taurus grip.
Also, the Hogue monogrip for tracker/judge will work for a full size grip. Only thing is u have to get a longer grip screw. M4 .7x 40mm. If it's longer than 40mm the hammer will not operate because when u pull it, it will hit the end of the screw on the inside of the grip. Other than that, it will give u a full grip and a better handle on it.
great video!! I have the same gun and absolutely love it. I was the same way. I always wanted a Judge and seen the tactical color and bought it that day.
Was thinking about getting one the other day. Your video has helped me decide to get one. Your right people have bashed Taurus but they are using the wrong ammo.. Great Video, I will bet getting one soon!
1yankeecowboy what rounds are good that you use to practice and for self defense. I was looking into it but when alot of video bashed the poly, I started to change my mind but then I got to thinking I have a PT111 and 1911 by taurus and have no issues..
Carl Edwards Jr I use my 45 colt reloads for target shooting and for 410 fun I buy herters slugs from cabela's. Self defense I carry the hornady critical defense .410 round
I have the Public Defender model in steel. I found some awesome grips for it. Pachmayr Diamond Pro Grip for Taurus Compact Public Defender for steet PD (18.00 USD). I bought them at Amazon and at the time you can also get them that are made for the Poly like yours. These grips make the PD feel great and fill you hand nicely. Check them out. Nice video by the way, thanks.
There's a company called Short Line adapters that you can shoot other calibers out of it you just put the adapter in the cylinder and you can shoot 22 38 9 mm 10 mL basically all the smaller cartridges
Hornady calls the 4-10 Tripple Defense. A slug and two balls, in fact the upper ball fits in a recess in the slug and drives the slug to expand it in the rifling. Pachmayr makes a neat grip.
I got the LG375 5 MW Lazer grips from Crimson trace so I could point shoot and hip fire this thing really nicely, I nick-named my PDP "Tactical Terry".💪🤟👌
Can anyone help out a former firearms instructor on HOW one colorizes the indented areas of the pistol? I have just purchased the dark earth polymer, mostly based upon this channel (thank you!) and I like his colorization ideas, but wondering what is used to hold up to the firing shock and wear which naturally occurs with a gun? I want to thank him for his ammunition recommendation and his testing different rounds as well, for what he has recommended makes so much sense and I am excited to give it a shot, no pun intended of course.... :)
I think the reason Taurus made it a 5 shot and not a 6, is because it makes it slimmer. Right now it is a decent option for concealment but if it was a 6 like the Governer, it would probably too wide for most people.
Have nothing to do here in Afghanistan but work, work out and stalk gun sales... Having said that, wife just picked this up in Academy for $399. Now just have to wait to go home and shoot it :). Kind of disappointed that it did not come with the 2 grips that her previous Public Defender did, and it came with some funky front sight cover (cool but not needed). Will definitely upgrade the grip but seems like a well built version and looking forward to it! Great review and keep it up!!
There are a lot of people who view the Taurus Judge and S&W Governor as gimmick guns, I did as well but bought one for the fun of it. While I dismiss it as a carry gun because of it's size, in my opinion it is not a gimmick. Shooting Nobel Sport 3 ball .40 buck it will shoot about an 8 inch 5 shot group at 7yds. That's 15 .40 cal holes in an eight inch area in five shots. I'm no expert, and am not claiming this is what you should shoot, but shooting it and finding ammo that it liked, proved to me it has it's place.
@@37gdog I use a OWB holster with no issues, have to wear a longer shirt to fully conceal but I don't care if anyone sees a piece of it, with that said most people are too busy with there noses in their phones these days.

color fill with dark forest green and you might never be able to find it. btw how many rounds have you got thru the poly at the moment and is it still working and shooting good?
Good video Yankee. Hiw about grain, have you shot 45LC 265 grams? I've was just told I can't shoot 265gr but the place I got it from said yes. Thoughts?
Did you polish the cylinder on your black poly? ... Mine is definitely a matte black ... and yours is incredibly shiny! I like it, I just don't understand it. lol
I am not telling you to do this, but I have shot acp using the Taurus "star" clips. Some of the Taurus's will and some won't. But, on my poly, there is enough clearance to use the star clips.
One of the best and fair reviews I've seen on this beautiful revolver. Thank you.

that's the Gun I gotta get Thanks for the review of that gun been wanting it you sold it with the review thank you Steve. how bout the N. Y. Rangers.
thanks bro, and hope they can get by Pittsburgh.
@1yankeecowbow what is your hottest load/grains 185grain or 225gr or 250gr ?
Would you recomend a good crossdraw holster?
What do you think about bird shot through it for snakes? I live in the sticks and run into copper heads all the time. I have the PD in FDE, btw.
Phillip Carr no use for bird shot through this revolver but if you were at very close range it may do it but spread is super wide with bird shot.
1yankeecowboy thanks. Yeah I’m generally about 5 ft away when I deal with snakes, if that far.
Phillip Carr maybe a few shots would do it. I'd use number 6 shot
GREAT review, again!
thanks tom!
Is there anything you recommend for the color fill, and what items you need to buy?
Look through my videos, i did a video on how to color fill.
Where is the best place to buy one.
Any idea how you remove the cylinder and crane from the frame?
I bought a 5star speedloader for .410 loads, but I can't fit the rounds in the chamber because the grip actually blocks the cylinder when open... kind of annoying
bryant peppler I agree totally kinda a disappointment but I still love the revolver.
color fill with dark forest green and you might never be able to find it. btw how many rounds have you got thru the poly at the moment and is it still working and shooting good?
Use olive green for fill color
I got the black one what's the best 45 bullets to use for self protection
Hornady
Good video Yankee. Hiw about grain, have you shot 45LC 265 grams? I've was just told I can't shoot 265gr but the place I got it from said yes. Thoughts?
I shoot 200 grain because it’s the same heads I use for reloading my 45acp
@@yankeecowboy Thank you so much for the reply brother.
@@suba-dude5516 of course man!
That’s what I’m here for lol
Did you polish the cylinder on your black poly? ... Mine is definitely a matte black ... and yours is incredibly shiny! I like it, I just don't understand it. lol
B Menees no that's how it came, wish it was flat but it's easy to clean being shiny.
Ebay has some nice ones as far as grips.
Did you use nail polish for the color filled?
Levi Phillips no acrylic water based paint.
awesome video and thanks bro...
I am not telling you to do this, but I have shot acp using the Taurus "star" clips. Some of the Taurus's will and some won't. But, on my poly, there is enough clearance to use the star clips.
was wondering if that would work, thanks for the info.
+1yankeecowboy The pressures for .45 acp are greater than .45 colt, so do at your own risk. The official Taurus position is it won't work.
Did you pattern the Hornady at 10 yards?
Yes and I don’t remember the exact numbers but I was impressed it was fairly good
The pachmayr grip blocks speed loaders and block some of the empties on eject.....I'd stick with what it came with..
Eastern Cowboy hadn't found a grip that would work with speed loader other than the stock one.
