I own and regularly carry a Judge 3"/3". I love the comment sections of all the Judge videos. Everyone thinks their perspective is the only right one. Look, there is a reason there are so many variations of handguns and ammunition on the market. What works for you may not work for me. Around here no one cares if I have a hand cannon hanging off my hip, and when I am out in the middle of nowhere fishing my self defense needs are different than when I am in Target. The Judge, with the right ammunition, is a platform that performs well in both situations. I have numerous handguns in the safe but I almost always put the Judge on as I am headed out the door. Let's focus on what is important, I'm not going down without a fight and neither should you.
The best home defense argument for this gun is the specific HANDGUN buckshot rounds from federal. Most home encounters are one shot before the intruder starts running crazy like a jackrabbit, so you want that one shot to count. That federal buckshot do 16 inches of penetration in gel. EACH. That's serious stuff. It's essentially a firing squad of 32 auto to 38 special per trigger pull. A cylinder dump at close range is damn near machine gun lead flying out of that thing, and it's accurate. The wounds branch out on contact too, so you increase your chances of vital 4-5x each shot. It's nasty shit and hard to find. They also make a lehigh expanding 45lc round that fills the length of that cylinder. It's fucking massive and has a 2inch WIDE wound channel.
I have a Judge that accepts 3" 410 rounds and use Winchester PDX Defender rounds, 3 of the PDX .410 and two PDX 45 Colt, staggered, Best hiking gun in my opinion. Great for Cougar or most black bear.
Nope. Bears have super thick hides even black bear. You would definitely want penitration in those situations. Handguns as is just poke small holes in things. For same weight you could get 10mm with 3x rounds.......
In my classes that I have been in I have been told u don't shoot to wound u shoot to kill bc if u wound them they can sue you an their word over urs where if they are dead it's ur word over theirs
We haven't had any with that gun. We did find that sometimes those shells REALLY got stuck in there when we used hotter rounds. Only with the .410 rounds though.
Great video! I was on the fence about buying one of these, although I do own several other Taurus revolvers. People like to talk smack about the Judge and Taurus guns in general but imagine getting shot in the face with bird shot, might not even be lethal, but damn... say goodbye to your eyes and say hello to receiving Social Security checks every month.
price comparison, if you want 45 long colt, the judge is cheaper then most out there. not sure that 2 1/2 inch birdshot is the way to go for self defense.
It's not a good choice imo to carry. I have that same gun, same version in the drawer of my nightstand with federal handgun buckshot. And if I have time to stand, open my dresser drawer 2 1/2 feet from me, I have in my underwear drawer my remington 20 gauge tac 14 with #3buckshot. If I get to shoot.... I win. 🙂👍
I’m always surprised by the it’s only 5 shots argument. The majority of self defense takes place in 7 feet are you dumping a 15 round mag and reloading.. YES there are better rounds available and better guns and better revolvers but I think the premise of its only 5 shots when it’s for self defense argument is invalid. Good luck selling a gun made for self defense that you just bashed your whole video then invite everyone to come buy at your shop for plinking. $500.00 plinker lol
The whole point of the video is that, even though every gun isn't great as a self defense option, or even it's marketed purpose, that doesn't mean they aren't fun. Besides, most of us blow WAAAY more than five yards on our plinking toys. LOL. Just depends on how much you value fun.
Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law…….. “KILL THAT PERSON!!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Just so you know, If you ever have to use lethal force in the future, your prosecutor will show this video to the jury and try to prove intent…. Food for thought….
@@Kenny1594 got one of those also only reason I have the judge it was my grandfather's it's got Sentimental value not the best self-defense pistol but it will get the job done
@@Kenny1594 federal buckshot crushes more tissue than a 357 magnum out of the same barrel length. Five 36 calibers trumps a single .357. Even though the 357 is moving faster, it can't overcome that many holes. And most 357s do about 16-18 inches in FBI gelatin. Those buckshot do exactly the same or a little more, but you 5 at the same time. 4 inch spread at 12 yards. Perfect for a house.

Yep, the people who trash this gun don't bother to figure out how to properly choose the right ammo for what they want it to do
I heard that if you fire the gun sideways in one hand, you will hit center target every time..
I'm about to test this

@@Kenny1594 Are you saying .45 Colt won't penetrate a black bear's hide?
@jaredmarshall4245 it may but why chance it on novelty gun? 357 44 mag 10mm all for sure would and easier to find and better ammo selection.
@Kenny1594 We're friends now. LOL.
44mag kest powerful then 45 colt plus p loads 45 colt is not a joke bro

Have you had any light primer strikes. I have one on my dresser but also have my Glock 22 or my Springfirld mod 2xds in 45acp

Absolutely agree!!!
I agree with your philosophy in self-defense for more so I have a better saying I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6
You're one hell of a shooter. The Judge magnum in 3in, is hand cannon.
Thank you!0
How far was your target approximately?
Those targets are 10 yards from the shooting platform.

This gun is PERFECT for people who live in apartments or condos!!
I have one and it’ll not a bear on its azzzzz
What about as a snake gun?
Are snake guns a subject we should dive into?
