    In this video I show how I modded my 2019 Hobie Outback's seat to elevate it up to 4 inches higher than the stock setting. This made a huge difference in comfort on the water. Also it did not hurt the stability of the kayak.

    Thank you Jesse. I thought about upgrade my old seat to a new seat to get it a little higher. But your video solves my problem. New seats for Hobbie kayak are so expensive.

    Thank you for this! I was able to complete this modification in about an hour which includes the drive to Home Depot for just about 20 bucks.
    Side note, on 2022 Hobie Outback’s, only one side has a spacer in it. I actually ended up taking it out because the aluminum was thick enough to make up the space without it.
    Thanks again!

    Looks like a great mod! From sitting in some friends hobies without mods and some with mods similar to yours, the raised seats are much better.

      @@SouthernReelsFishing I did this tonight. It went pretty smooth, but I did note a couple things;
      1) My 2020 outback only had a plastic spacer on the right/starboard side, and it was a little taller than yours. When I went to reassemble, I was not able to put it back in place, it was too tight. Probably doesn't matter.
      2) it was tricky to get the gears to line up at the top on both sides, especially because of that tight fit.
      3) I capped the exposed screws with a couple acorn nuts which worked well
      Sadly, while I had the seat off I noticed that I have the dreaded hull crack around one of the rear seat supports. Sigh, I'll have to begin the warranty hull replacement process.

      So this weekend was my first chance to fish with the modded seat. Holy cow! So much better. More comfortable and standing is much easier. I hate the phrase game changer, but this really is one.

      @@Nate_Cross That's awesome to hear! I am not surprised though. I would not have done a video on it if it didn't actually improve my comfort on the water. I'm glad it helped you as well!

    What is the name or link to the original seat for your kayak? I have a 2014 outback that is missing the seat, and that one looks like it would fit.

    Not sure those front supports would hold up on a bigger guy 230 lbs plus with pressure and rocking out on the water without an added block underneath for support. Nonetheless good idea & thought on that , & if one needed to they could add that if needed too. Im 250 lbs an I would be afraid to go out like that without torqueing & bouncing too much an then ripp out the brackets on side of kayak hull & then potentially a bigger problem produced & warranty was voided because of it. Just a thought. Tightlines.

      I'm thinking there needs to be another block under each of the adjustment blocks to help keep the aluminum trips from flexing, and to help support the vertical load on the adjusting blocks.

    On my seat I have to pull the tabs to extending the back feet. Yours look like the are out under tension. Did you reverse them some way.

    looks good. try acorn nuts or tape so you don't cut yourself on the bolts when using the rudder.
