- Kalevi Kiviniemi plays "Toccata" from Suite gothique by Léon Boëllmann. This was recorded in Leppävirta Church, Leppävirta, Finland. Leppävirta church is from 1846, it was designed by C. L. Engel. It is one of the ten biggest churches in Finland.
The organ was built in 1989 by Kangasalan urkurakentamo (Kangasala organ builders). It has 45 stops, mechanical key action, electrical stop action and couplers and a memory system for registrations. It represents scandinavic romantic style of organ building, but has strong influences from French romantic tradition. This is one of the first modern romantic-style organs built in Finland.
As in all videos here, audio is taken from original high quality multichannel recording system, not from video camera's own microphone. The better your audio system is, the better the sound, of course within limitations of TH-cam audio. Although this is filmed in SD, the picture quality is better in 720p-HD-version. Audio, video, editing and description by Mika Koivusalo. - เพลง
Rest in peace, Kalevi Kiviniemi. I haven't heard an organist who plays with more beauty.
So nice version of this grand piece. Who knows the disposition of this nice sounding Kangasala organ? I heard the most grand Kangasala organ in Tampere so becoming a fan of them.
A magnificent piece! I love Finland and its simple Lutheran churches, this one being shrouded in mist.
Perfect performance!!!!! You are one of my favourite organists
Bravissimo!!

Great registration, one of the best on youtube:D
Kalevi, um dos melhores organistas do mundo. Sou seu fã.

You are the greatest! The emotion! The drama. So brilliant. I listen to this one and Zug Zum Munster several times a year. (I would love to hear you play Tu Es Petra). Be well. Best wishes from Minnesota in America :)
This is by far the best version of Toccata on TH-cam!!!
Reagan Reese no Kalevi is maybe a great organist but please listen to Latry's version in ND of Paris or MC Alain in St Sulplice : Far better organs, better organists : my biaised opinion.
+amarparis17 Please consider that France is about 10* bigger in terms of population, organ tradition and organ history than Finland. I think Kalevi, who is basically another lad from the country, does well indeed in any comparison.
+Itapirkanmaa2 you're absolutely right. I love this finish organist he's damn talented though he's playing in France occasionally! My concern was about he was lacking a tremendous contra-bombarde 32'. Parisien organs may help him. Or the legendary Saint Ouen (in Rouen) pipe organ where Kalevi has already played.
+amarparis17 the best version of the toccata ever played at St Ouen was from the dutch organist ben van oosten check it out
Reagan Reese
yes this and the version of Roucher du toit.
SUPER! Niesamowita gra! I te emocje!
Marvelous tonal quality as well as a clear and intelligent performance. These videos are all really good and reflect the special effort of Maestro Kiviniemi to provide a quality experience for those of us viewing and listening to organ music on TH-cam. If should do a concert tour of the United States in the future I'd like to hear Maestro Kiviniemi perform Boellmann's "Toccata" on the large historic Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ at the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah.
I can't resist to joke on this, don't take it too seriously please, not offensive, just :D is there anything historic in the USA when the country itself is not? :D
You mean what Europeans deserve but are stuck with history? :-)
Given the limitations of this otherwise fine organ, magnificent! I, too, had wondered about the apparently closed stops. Very interesting! Regardless, a masterful job and thank you!
Thank you. Kiitos samoin 🌺🌺🌺
Yes...me wonder too...stops looks closed but they are a bit open....in this organ not more needed?
He really works out the theme! Bravo!!
kkalle jjussillaaaa
R.I.P. Grande Maestro
Loved it, very stirring. Thanks!
Sublime transporta a lo no inmaginado es un viaje alas galaxias espirales
Es un genio moderno tiene pasión por lo que hace
yes he is even better than latry in this piece, but people don't want to recognise it ,people focus most of time on one player, one of the greatest tribune
This track is a balm for me. I listen to him and listen to.
Where can I find the stoplist/disposition/specification of this instrument? I LOVED the 32-foot flues! I only wish there had been a 32-foot reed stop in the pedal to go with them!
The organ builder seems to have gone under years ago, and there is nothing on the parish website. There are two organists (kanttori) in the staff list leppavirranseurakunta.fi/index.php?id=17 and they have listed their mobiles. You could txt, remove the first 0 and add +358 to the number.
The designer prof. Pentti Pelto would I think be helpful, I found his ham radio operator address only, oh3gqm at sral.fi
I would love to listen to you with that piece of organ at the st petri church in Hamburg
Nice!!!
best version on you tube registration and interpretation
GREEEAT!
Here, take my like! :)
Jésus Yes 👍🏻

Why weren't any stops drawn?
Fff que barbaiaaaa!
Highway to hell or to heaven,as you like.
kaikki hyvä, paitsi yksi asia, jota onneksi en vain huomannut teissä, mutta melkein kaikissa paitsi Marco deen Toomissa unohdin käyttää tuulilasia. Sen lisäksi, että kaikki on hyvin.
bad performance, too fast, i don't understand why fast is associated with good, each piece has his right speed
