I have just had 5 wood clad casements installed. Well sort of. They started in October. The installer ran out of casing material and 2 windows were damaged. One required a new sash. After they left, I inspected the install and found that all the trim wood and jamb extensions were extremely rough finished. Since that time there is still no resolution for the problem. They haven't replaced the damaged sash or corrected the bad finish. Still no casing on the last window. They only job well done was the accountant that called for 2 weeks trying to get the final 5% payment. We have been working around bare windows with no blinds for 2 months and will probably still not have it resolved any time soon. They seem to be incapable of making any corrections without corporate approval. The problem is all of the product (wood trim and jambs) from the factory are finished poorly and replacements just dont fix it. So corporate is the problem. The sash is a quality item of aluminum and fancy glass. The rest is kind of mass produced poorly constructed add ons. Not happy at all and no real solution in sight. Dont believe the adds. They install a mass produced mediocre quality product and dont really care if they fix it or do it right. They get enough in the first 2 installment payments to cover their costs, so if the rest is lost they are still ahead. It is a shame that even the most reputable companies have forgotten how to provide quality and service. I am not asking for a lot, just what I paid for.
That's a good point, Justin. I will start comparing the brands to one another. It gets a bit tricky because their wood windows are top notch, but they pale in comparison to quite a few fiberglass options, and a whole host of vinly window options.
These are the worst possible windows to install in a house. Every window in my house leaks. If you find a positive review, check the date - probably less than a year old. Find reviews over 5 years old - they tell a different story. Customer service is terrible, unless you want to pay full price for the windows and installation all over again. It's unbelievable.
