You do that when using a breaker bar so that the wheel doesn't rotate while you're trying to loosen the nut. With an impact driver, the wheel won't rotate so you don't have to keep it on the ground.
Loved the video, very informative but wouldn't be dropping the torque wrench on the floor so casually as you could upset its calibration and mess the torque reading.

It will always be right is tight (clockwise) left is loose (counter clockwise) The torque driver will turn clockwise or counter clockwise by pressing on the directional switches that’s shown at 1:00. You can double check the direction by pressing the trigger while looking at the driver to make sure it’s turning clockwise or counter clockwise

all done with wheels off the ground? i though loosen bolts with wheels on ground 1st to take wheel off or is that if you dont have impact wrench

The forward and reverse switches at 1:00 changes directions
