- Decided on a full on 80s revisitation, like going back to my youthful late 20s and 30s. Happy I did as I made it back to shore with no walk of shame or blasting clear through the sail. The feel of the board is smooth, floaty and stable. I need as much of that as possible. So well preserved. And i like big things that allow me not to sink rapidly during the lulls. A win ,win. Direction of the wind was sweet. Held against my will pinned out there longer than i was comfortable with. Conditions can change on a dime and always have that in mind. During winter months when water starts are a challenge...that is a very different beast and can create a massive amount of anxiety. In the spring...not so bad. Everything down to my harness retro & recycled. The North Prisma 6.0 sail came with the board so why not pair them up to see what happens. Second time riding Tropix since Thursday at Bobs beach in Stevenson, Wa. Like the volume on it. Fun afternoon…at times. The geography of South Padre Island reminded me of the outer banks at Cape Hatteras , affording both flat water sailing and wave sailing so close togerther. Stayed close to home in search of light relaxation and got a little more than forecasted at “Wind” state park. The retro North cambered 6.0 held up very well and it took a beating. Condition , condition condition if your vintage equipment has been stored correctly and in pristine shape they get to serve a second life. Recycle. Wanted a quick fix and got it before the pineapple express hits tomorrow. Nice and close 45 min to arrive at “WIND” state park….thanks Bob & Lana. Thanks for watching and get out there and get it.
