I live on a boat in a marina with access to cable internet but my ping is always really bad because the cables running through the docks are old as dirt. I've been on the fence about switching over mainly because gaming latency with satellite internet, but this helped me make the choice to cut the cord. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.

I'm here because of Spectrum. Spectrum is absolute garbage and I have been waiting for the moment that Starlink could get consistent low ping and upload speeds above 30 Mbps. Sounds like we're close.

In FL spectrum sucks I’m paying $166 a month for under 300 mbps , bad customer service and it’s an isp monopoly.

Thinking about switching over to starlink. Currently at the house where I reside Im on brightspeed (formerly centurylink) unfortunately. Did a speed test on my xbox today, 12.5 mbs download and .5 upload speed. Spectrum internet wont come out of the city limits and im a quarter mile away. Where I plan on moving will be even more rural and starlink will be the the only viable option anyways. According to the starlink website its on sale till october 5th.

Back in 2021 it was kinda bad but now it’s awesome I don’t lag as much or lag out of my games when I’m lagging. In 2021 it wasn’t horrible but I would lag and lag out during games through the days. However now it’s awesome I lagged out once every 2 or 3 weeks I’m enjoying it. Also the latency is much more consistent not perfect but it much better for me.

  • @QuikSak

Im on 4g and get 42 to 80ms to the Sydney server and it has been surprisingly consistent but It doesn't look like Starlink is going to much of an improvement for me yet especially as its double the price a month. But Must would know there is a lot of money to be made by improving its performance and price so I keep looking at where its at every 6 months or so. Buying the unit has become much cheaper but the monthly cost hasn't dropped at all, anyway there is always hope.

    • @kekw21234

@@kekw21234 Yeh the ping they advertise goes on top of whatever it is already locally so thats no improvement and put that with the stability issues and that its double the price and its not there yet for the foreseable future. Unfortunately 5g isnt available where I am but its priced even better than my plan so when it is I will be looking at it.

I only play sports games on my PS5 online, like Madden, MLB The Show, NBA2K and the occasional Mortal Kombat. I have COX high speed and it is plenty fast enough for my needs. But, BUT…. COX does these annoying security checks and I lose WiFi signal at least 3 times a week. That is my reason for looking into Starlink. The main pro is the fact I could take Starlink with me on the go! But is the speeds good enough for online PS5 sports gaming? I’ll keep doing some research for now. Great video.

Thanks for the video, Nick. I just moved out to the country on 17 acres and got Starlink. It’s WAY better in speeds than my prior internet. However, the packet bursts in call of duty multiplayer matches is HORRIBLE. It’s non stop and I’m noticing that’s a common issue with Starlink users. Do you have any remedies for the packet bursts? What about with 2% (maximum) obstructions? From the ground i have 1.5-2% obstruction but i plan to install the dishy on a 25 ft pole, so hopefully that helps. Latency is an issue for me so I'm curious how big of an impact that amount of obstruction will have.

We live in rural Kentucky, and are considering Starlink for our home. What is the most efficient and highest recommended way to extend your Wi-Fi signal to other outbuildings separate from your home? I’m planning to build a recording studio, not connected to the main house, in the upper floor of our barn, but require Internet for the majority of both mixing tools and posting music to different platforms
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as well as ease of installation for a guy who isn’t exactly as tech savvy as his 27-year old kid!

Leaving your fiber connection for starlink has got to be the dumbest idea you could have, sure starlink has decent speeds but boy oh boy, the lightest of rain and cloud cover and it fucks up the signal so bad that it's not even funny anymore. I mean sure if you want that added hassle to your life just because your fiber connection is performing "slightly worse" then sure. Also, gaming with starlink is absolutely horrendous, constant packet loss and the ping spikes are the absolute worst. I am on the gen 2 with clear skies.
