OMG!!! You’re getting really good with sculpting XPS foam. The Pit is really starting to come together. There is already so much activity, energy, movement going on. Many stories are unfolding on these evolving streets. I’m blown away.
As a kid I was fascinated by Star Wars and the modelmakers too. But there was no Internet where you can find tutorials how to do. So packed my desire in a imaginary box and put it in a imaginary storage. Years later, I was an adault, I stumbled over Warhammer 40k, and the box in the storage opend with a bang and there was my desire again. The Codex "Cityfight" and the old GW "terrain making book" give me the push over the edge. I started to collect all sorts of material and made my first cityfight ruin out of corrugated card board, paper, sand and small stones. The cityfight project became a name - Cyriacus Capitol - a Spacemarine Chapter, more buildings (Brewery, Monorail, Temple, Entrance to the sewer, Observatory and so on) and background stories. And nowadays I have the idea of a crossover: Cyriacus Capitol and model railway....It is my world, my imagination and I love to ramble arround in this world.
This actually was the most inspiring opening. Well done. Seriously. This was the most honest exposition. Thank you for the encouragement. Men need to hear this.
This looks great. And everyone does creates in one way or another. We come by it naturally. We were created so we create. In many forms. Hopefully to the enjoyment of others. Certainly like you have. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Love all of your builds, but your world building are some of my favorites! Glad to see another video in this series, and can't wait to see how this project progresses!
This is amazing. Every inch has detail. Im sure you have details that only you know are there it seems you dont take short cuts and that shows man. great work
I took a coffee break from building my Buddy the Elf says goodbye to the North Pole and sets sail for the shores of the Candy Cane Forest diorama I am building for my father-in-law's Christmas tree train set (last year it was several scenes from Christmas Story - things you learn along the way, how to sculpt a 1:48 scale turkey carcass and convey that Flick's tongue is stuck to the flagpole - next year will likely be Gimbel's, working my way up eventually to an eight-foot-tall Nakatomi Tower) and watched this. It was the perfect motivation boost, the sense of community you foster is always so worthwhile, and then I come out of it with a technique I can immediately employ - plaster will be the perfect thing to sculpt the snow mounds atop of the pink foam glaciers I've sculpted to surround the epoxy resin ocean. Thank y'all for sharing your world with us. I hope you have an amazing holidays, and I look forward to seeing how this all grows in the coming year!
You are so correct Brian. Creating helps re-set / heal the mind. Our brains need time to file away all the BS we throw at them day to day. mowing the lawn, washing the car, doing dishes and YES....playing with toys and building Star Wars rooms allows our minds to go on cruise control for a while so it can file away all the important stuff we take in. This is a necessary process for us and very healthy. Very cool diorama you got going there by the way. Did I see Luke trying to keep Han from seeing Han & Leia? LOL
Another great video! As a long time tabletop gamer who has spent many many hours, day, and weeks building scenery and miniatures for just the right game setting, I recognize very well all the techniques you'll be using for that massive diorama. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
This is great.....most of my basement is a 1/18 star wars diorama ! there is a huge community online, I host a live stream every friday showcasing worldbuilders, would love to have you on sometime !
Thank you thank you THANK YOU! I look forward to your videos and inspirational messages about seeking out those moments when building and creativity collaborate to make something wonderful. I know you are busy, and massive projects don't lend themselves to weekly updates, however please keep dropping these update videos as often as possible. Thank you do much for taking us along with you!
Absolutely beyond inspiring and incredible once again, every time I see one of your videos I have to put everything down and just create! Currently working on a small Coruscant model as well as a little Explorer's shop model... Theyre quickly becoming my favorite type of project now!
Great motivational talk. ❤ There IS nothing wrong with being the 54 year old (today!!!) nerd that I am. Your diorama and prop/room builds are second to none. I hope to match your skills someday 😅. Right now I'm building Mando and IG 11 a custom speeder from a greeblied up shampoo bottle. 😊 I'll use some of your foam techniques for the display. Merry Christmas and Happy Life Day Lol!! (Yes...I will find the Star Wars Holiday Special on You Tube 😂😂😂).
I'm pretty sure I saw Indy at the bar... I love this stuff, I make models and have considered the diorama thing buy I just don't have the room to display them. Great stuff mang!!!!
That's looking great Brian. I started on my 6th Dalek last night (Still need to finish #1 and #5, but #1 is busy being a Christmas Tree at the moment).
It's like you were reading my origin story to me.. Was world building even a term in 1983? I don't know but scale modelling has always been an obsession of mine. Started the same way with my Dad showing me a hobby shop in the mall with a great train table. I have so many small scale ideas (1:18 batmobile display for instance) and a couple larger ideas (Legacy Falcon or Razor Crest). Free time is so hard to find these days, but you're right that we need to take time to enjoy ourselves more. As children AND as 47 year old children..
You realize that you're also building a film set. With the right editing, you could be standing in the middle of that diorama. "Live from the Outer Rim, it's The Smuggler's Room!" Laid more track for your train of thought, I hope.
Also being in my 40's, we never outgrow toys, ever! Lol. I've been collecting Star Wars, GI Joe, knock off GI Joe, Jurassic Park, Lightyear, etc, etc, toys to make a cool diorama some day. Playsets are great for a base to build on.
I love watching your vids! I always get little ideas as you progress. This time, I saw the TIE fighter in the circular area in that book you were flipping through. Then this idea spawned. You know those magnetic field levetation, desktop things? Where the object floats on a magnetic field seeming to defy physics? How cool would it be if you could do that with a TIE fighter in your diorama?? It would just sorta float there as though it was in a maintenance area and they were testing the ion engines or something. Just a thought! Keep it up man!! 👍🏼
Same..i sent ya a message on facebook messanger..hope you like the pics..and my current endor build im doing now..your videos has gave me a lot of ideaa..as youll see in the pics..im also working on my star wars lights..look forward to more ideas
These dioramas are my favorite part of your build videos. Worldbuilding with action figures like this is the way.
Thank you! We really enjoy them as well!
So stoked for this, Brian!
Thank you my friend!
With winter upon us and the garage super cold, this is the perfect time to get into diorama builds! Perfect timing!
There you go my friend! Do it!!!
This has to be one of the best speeches about a hobby/passion that I've ever heard! 👏
Very much appreciated!
I was about to type something similar. Such wonderful words and so true.

Fantastic!
Walt Disney was obsessed with miniatures and world building.
His brother Roy helped him scale his world up a bit.
Ok, quite a bit.
cool
Love Indy with the Ark.
funny right?
@@TheSmugglersRoom you should carve a ruin into the wall of the diorama of Indy like in Raiders of the Lost Ark of C3PO and R2D2 in the Well of Souls.

If only I had the space! I actually built a Fine Molds 1/72 Millennium Falcon that would fit in that diorama wonderfully.
You can always scale something like this down, or simply build a small part of it for yourself! You should try it!
@ that might be in my future. I’m currently building an R2 which is taking a lot of my off time. 👍
Brian, I love diorama building and Star Wars so...I LOVE THIS! Is that the MPC Falcon or a model kit? Keep going and Merry Christmas to you both!
Thank you! The Falcon is an original Kenny toy from the 80's!

Great video and concept. Can I ask which book you were looking through at the beginning of the video? Thanks

Am I crazy or did I see Marty McFly and Sam from Trick R Treat hiding in amongst the figures??
You certainly did see them! Thanks for watching!
I really wish I had the room to have dioramas.
Remember, you could build smaller versions, or even at a much smaller scale if you don't have a lot of space.
@TheSmugglersRoom the wife and I agreed 1:1 for most things. I'm still not sure where we are going to put her Speeder Bike.

¿Donde puedo comprar figuras de star wars de ese tamaño??
These are the traditional 3.75" scale figures. You can get them almost everywhere; Amazon, Ebay, etc.
I recently built a small model, but unfortunately I can't find my Star Wars figures to put them in (they were probably stolen when I moved).
sorry to hear that
AWESOME! A few questions: You put what looked like styrofoam into a liquid. What was that? Also what book are you referencing?
Sorry, not sure what you mean "Styrofoam into a liquid?"
The book is the Art of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. it's a fantastic resource!
