Yea, his therapist was like "I think this would be good for you." in relation to something else, idk adopting an animal, and Vlad takes it out of context and decides to run an orphanage instead 😅

Perhaps he learned to cook to feed his new human children, then discovered he liked cooking so much he went to college for a culinary degree so he could get himself a job as a chef to help fit in with humans and pay the costs of accomodating humans in his home as opposed to other vampires, and he just hasn't landed the job yet/he got the job and realized it was taking up valuable time he'd rather spend with his family, so he quit and found other methods of paying the grocery bill?
He just found the joys of baking and needed someone to share the food with

Suddenly i want to play this family,, storyline being Vlad starting an orphanage as his blood bank, but afterwards creating good relationships with all his kids and making sure all of them succeed in life,, ending with Vlad having pristine reputation,, and his house becoming more alive and (slightly) more vibrant.

This would be very cool. Ebony moving out to live with Oak would be handy too, seeing as he spoke about making sure none of the Strauds got deleted when he sets the household number back to eight.
He'd have to check who all of the Straud family members (or at least Ebony's direct line) had their babies with since there are so many Bigwallets running around this world as well. They may already be unknowingly part of the family.

The interior ended up reminding me of the mansion from the Umbrella Academy. It's a cool reno, much more useful than you'd think, Vlad often adopts a bunch of kids in my saves, and looking at all the graves and coffins, he used to have quite a clan in the past, definitely not out of character for him to try to rebuild it. It works as an orphanage or a hotel too. Way more victorian and pokey than the original weird floorplan.
Petition to make this a series where James goes through and fixes townies homes? This is fantastic. I would never play it, but will probably download it cuz I hate how empty the original is and have no desire to actually decorate it myself.
This feels like a bit of necessary community service for all the chaos the Bigwallets have caused over the generations LOL
The biggest difference between sims 4 and 3 is this one tile hallway. If this was in sims 3 with 16 sims everyone would die trapped in the halls 😂
The fact that all of the rooms are different shapes and sizes, and winding hallways, makes it feel so much more authentic!

As someone with a family with a lot of antique (like, medieval) furniture, can confirm that a lot of the really big pieces were made to disassemble in chunks

Just an idea : add a bowling alley or two in the basement. Plenty of room and I think it would be funny for Vlad's grandkids to play while he sleeps and to wake him up. I can see that as even being a dare for the teenagers haha. Fantastic build anyways, love floorplan challenges like this. :)
I eventually just gave up and turned off neighborhood stories entirely once I got sick of all my townies adopting a million random kids and pets, not to mention a bunch of them moving to Sulani for no apparent reason 😂. You’re braver than I for trying to work around it
I pretty much only allow moving in, job related stuff, and having babies naturally bc those are the only features that happen at a somewhat logical pace and/or have little direct impact on my gameplay

In my game the Sulani town elder married and moved out with the Wolfgang Munch (from Windeburg) after that I was too horrified to leave stories on! (I reverted to a previous save as if the whole event was either a horrible nightmare or a parallel mirror universe) Lol
i just let them do whatever they want unless they are my sims family who they are ditching. in that cause i don't let them move but they can do everything else lmao.
I definitely would have made generous use of bunk beds and made kind of a dormitory. 😂 That’s what I usually do in big households.
Also with computers in bedrooms and similar situations, I love LittleMsSam’s Personal Objects mod so you can assign items to a character and no one else will use it. It’s a lifesaver. Or you can lock all the doors so only the room’s occupant can come in.
On the practicalities of sims builds, I always think about hydraulic installations. Where the drains would go, where the water heater would go, if the bathrooms are too far apart, i imagine one of them never getting more than a bit of warm water. I try to stack bathrooms and build them next to the kitchen, specially in cheaper houses because they wouldn’t afford a lot of pipes.
the indoor-facing windows are so cool somehow yet so sad lol. usually indoor-facing windows give me a deep feeling of “i’m trapped” dread (thinking of abandoned 60s hotel resorts that already gives me heebie jeebies), but i kinda like these haha.
they’re perf for the sims who black out their windows w curtains anyway. i’m a natural light girlie lmao!
Those interior windows make me think of 19th century tenement housing (probably a big part of the reason that they seem sad and give of that feeling of dread). The "improvement" was that eventually all rooms were required to have a window, but having that window lead outside was not specified so they ended up with lots of these interior windows to squeeze more and more people into the same amount of space. At least this is way above and beyond the one toilet per 20 people requirement.
@@amaz21 the dread feeling for me is related to abandoned places that were once hustling and bustling, but that tenement housing sounds very depressing. i think building and housing codes have definitely made living spaces feel a bit more welcome haha.
It kind of reminded me of my great-grandmother's house that had external windows inside, after they walled in part of the backyard to make another sitting room. I always thought it was so cool.
I remember when James didn't give a s... for the townies, and now he makes renovations to fit 16 bedrooms in a house! Aww James, you're growing up!!!
When James discovered Vlad's family in the LP, I found it so amusing that one of Vlad's kids is Laurie Straud. Spelled differently, but there's something appropriate in Vlad having a daughter named after Laurie Strode, the classic "last girl" from the original Halloween. ;)

So, again, why correct them when what they meant was clear & the correction adds nothing substantial to the conversation?

This house makes me want to play Vlad and start my own ginormous family. Maybe, do something like the umbrella academy and train up the sims special abilities.
A peony pink boho Vampire mansion with a giant playground in the garden would have been hilarious too. But the narrow corridor is a vibe.
The way James structure the bedrooms reminds me of how in my country landlords will partition a house to hell to fit in as many tenants as possible. The worst I came across was 15 "small rooms" in a house with originally 3 bedrooms..

I headcannon that they had their dad/grandpa Vlad carry the furniture into the rooms through his teleporting bat or mist form. He's actually doting despite his grim grumpy front and the kids all get terribly spoiled when he thinks no one is looking.
Vlad is definitely the “grumpy old dad who didn’t want the cat but they keep sort of hanging around and then he adopts them because he loves them” kinda dad I feel 🤣

i’ve only played sims 1, 2 and 3 .. i’ve never played with sims 4 to this day and this build and household makes me want to get it so bad with all the packs and mods haha, i love it 🧛 looks so chaotic and fun !
The base game is free and there's a sale right now, the vampires pack is probably like $15 so it's not that big of an investment but only if you really want to play with it haha.
I actually have use for this in one of my games!!! I had someone marry into my legacy family, and only then found out her aspiration was to be a master vampire. I never usually play with vampires (I bought the pack for the build/buy and cas), but, for some reason, I decided to have fun with this storyline. She became a vampire, ran amok within the family and their friends, made enemies of both the kids she'd had whilst human, and then walked out. Whereupon she seduced Vlad, moved into his house, killed him off, and proceeded to start her vampire dynasty. At last count, I think it was her and ten kids living in this house, and I never have properly renovated it to make it work. So, thank you, James, for doing the work for me😂 I don't have a working pc right now, but, once I can play again, I'll be downloading this!

Ngl I like the house more like this, the countless small rooms + narrow and twisting hallways are much creepier than the massive empty rooms it had before. It's more claustrophobic this way. And it contrasts nicely with the roomier first floor & basement, it almost feels like a game level from a horror game!! (now I kinda want to do a similar thing but instead of only bedrooms it's nonsensical storage rooms full of crates & bedrooms) (I bet the final boss would be in the basement)
The title is exactly what I want to see to help me enjoy my Sunday morning 🤓

This was fantastic! Yes, it's a bit silly, but I think Vlad's family needed the space. Also, I would LOVE modular tables in the game. It would make reunions so much easier.
Want even more accidental chaos? Keep the ingame neighborhood stories, and increase the household size using MCCC BUT also turn on MCCC'S story progression and watch all sorts of pregnancies and marriages take over your game.
the only way mccc progression impacts my game is when i go "who the hell is L. PANCAKES" and then it hits

@@juliashirokova8374 Interesting! Maybe I had tweaked some settings and forgot so it's doing more in my save. Usually, unless I specifically turn it off, there are days when the mod randomly marries people and move them into their households. And will randomly select sims for pregnancy.
One of my sims had an affair with Eric Lewis and convinced him to leave his spouse. But he kept coming over and my sims almost got caught so she dumped him not long after. MCCC randomly selected him for marriage and he has had two kids with the new spouse. And because of neighborhood stories, the nanny and Eric's ex (Alice?) got together and started dating.
@@danitho yeah, i customized it a bunch so that people randomly marry and move in together more often. it's just funny that i kind of ignore all the changes it brings because I'm too focused on my own sims, so the only times i remember i have mccc progression is when i notice that every premade towny changed their last names in marriage. sorry if i confused you

Yes please for modular tables! I was trying to make a giant table the way you have in some university classrooms for discussions, and it was such a headache.
Idk if you ever read bram strokers dracula but the castle is described as a really confusing maze. It would be so cool if you tried to create it with winding confusing hallways and stair cases, hidden doors and a creepy basement.
It would be fun, if the next time when James goes to Vlad's house there would be like 15 horses so he would have to turn it into a ranch 😂

Realism in Sims: a kitchen counter is like 60cm I think, so that’s usually the measurement I use when I recreate real houses in Sims (useful for moving).

You had me laughing at the really small hallway. Believe it or not my parents when we were younger decided to make the garage into a family room and to get to that they broke through the linen closet to make a hallway. If you are over 250lbs or really pregnant you are not getting into that room. LOL Also the windows from the bedrooms looking down to the living area remind me of a casino in Las Vegas where the hotel rooms have windows looking down to the slot machines. So everything you fit in the house I've seen in real life. That was an amazing build.
Apart from the narrow corridors, which are inevitable, I actually love this build so much lol. The big living room, the mezzanine and all the small bedrooms really give a haunted victorian mansion vibe

my personal headcannon is that, when left to his own devices, Vlad realizes the error of his ways and reconciles that he keeps turning random sims because he's lonely, so instead he starts adopting sims in need to fill his huge, expensive mansion.
James looks good in his Deligracy Motherlode hoodie! Definitely downloading this house for Vlad in my game as you made it Vampires & Base Game, but probably popping in a thermostat, and maybe a cat.

When we found out what happened with vlad, it was so funny and pretty epic. Awesome you renovated their place. I always hated when sims increase household and the house doesn’t make sense lol
Yes, I want to collect gnomes. Also, imagine night lights/mood lamps that are made from game items like glowy gnomes, Easter eggs, etc. And I've never even managed to get the good posters that were being sold in the past, the ones based on the in-game base game movie-style posters.
I think minimal furnishings, especially in the bedrooms, for a house of this size is very realistic on top of being more practical for gameplay. I recently toured FDR's home, which had a whopping 18 bedrooms after being remodeled, and every bedroom open to the public was that way too: just a bed, wardrobe, side table, and maybe a chair or two or a desk if the room was large enough to fit more items.

I think the balcony should be accessible or something special for just Vlad and visiting teleporters. Also, a wedding spot is nice on these massive family estate lots.

I couldn’t remember why the house was so empty at first and then when you brought up the werewolf incident, it immediately brought me back.
For giant dining tables, use bar counters. You can make it as long as you like.

Maybe I'm biased but this is such a fun build haha, I love the interior windows, I love the activities and communal spaces you added/improved. Vampires is on my list of packs to buy, so I'll definitely add this to my world. It's so funny
Here's a tip for TOOL that's made it immeasurably easier to use. If you have something selected (green highlight), alt-click on the ground in the direction you want to move it. The farther away you click, the farther it moves. You can do this to make super quick micro-adjustments to "floating" decor (like that tea set). Make sure you have the Snap to Terrain feature (Options > Change Settings) disselected, though, or floating objects will shift lower towards the floor (or higher if you click on a point on the wall higher than it's placed)
You also can't use TOOL to move an item that's slotted to something else (it'll just disappear if you try), but if you have MOO enabled and move it off that object so it's at the right height, then move it with TOOL. BetterBuildBuy's Deletion Protection feature comes in very handy when you use TOOL to place a lot of objects, as it prevents them from being deleted/moved to inventory if you change build mode stuff after placing it (just make sure you turn it off when you're done building, since it breaks undo/redo)

It would be funny to use this house as a boarding house or adoption agency 😆 but I have totally done this in my sims game! My sims friend adopted 7 kids and they lived in a 1 bedroom house and I had to fix it 😂😂😂

I'm loving that one of the sims was named Maude Straud. Great job on the build, I actually really love it. It would have been cool for Deli's orphanage LP she did a few years back.
