I just left Sally’s and bought everything she said I’d need, I just hope it works... and that I bought enough color. My hair is longer than hers with her extensions and looks thicker as well. Hope 2 boxes work.😨
Summer _ not too good, the top was great but the bottom was very dark and I did it 3 days in a row. It completely dried my hair out but it was fine after I used a cpl hair masks on it. I’m still trying to get the color I want so think I’m just going to have to strip my hair completely then try again. Wouldn’t recommend this I even bought the same shampoo and conditioner. Idk why it didn’t work I did everything the same as the vid

Followed these instructions and my hair looks GREAT!! However, my hair was reddish blonde already. I only had to dye my hair once, not twice like Nicole. So happy with the results!!

I'm planning to go red like this, but was your hair naturally dark or dyed dark before going red? I was a blonde for a bout 6 years then went black and two months after I dyed it a dark violet store box hair dye and haven't retouched since and its faded into a weird dark/light color
Another youtuber used this and called L'Oreal customer service and found out from them that it does not contain bleach. It has something that lifts your hair color I can't remember what it's called. But no bleach
I really wanted to dye my hair that colour, but this has put me off, that is far too much hard work and money and Im bound to mess it up anyway. Off to the hair dressers and a more natural colour for me I think. Thanks!!! Great vlog.
For most normal women with common sense maybe, but I cant even tell how many different shades of orange and khaki green I have been over the years with my attempts at home bleaching and colour, then have to spend more money having a hairdresser fix it while they pretend not to be laughing at me, oh well.
kittycorr33, it's really not that complicated. My best advice, if doing at home, color your hair with a permanent RR that is lighter than the red you want first. It'll help keep the color you want in longer. That goes for any hair color. And I did go to beauty school.
Since HiColor is mostly sold in US and if you are in Europe I recommend Loreal's Majicontrast Red/Rouge/Rosso which is more common to be found in Europe - it's making the same thing even better - it doesn't need re-dye - it dyes your hair bright red from the first dye and it lasts long - I generally can't stand cold showers specially now in the cold winter - and wash my hair with normal warm water and its still vibrant red
I live in the US and I actually have been using Majicontrast ever since I wanted to dye my hair red cause it's my favorite color and I was in my freshman year in high school when I got started. LounaTutorials is how I got red hair and it's great. My mom ordered the Majicontrast from eBay or other and it had came to us and I loved it ever since. Sometimes it took a little bit of time to get to us. I've been using it for 7 years and I've been happy about it. But now what I see is the price and the shipping are too expensive and where they coming from takes a while and lucky I have 5 left of them from the last time my mom ordered them. After I use all of the Majicontrast, I'll be switching to HiColor and my mom ordered 25 of them, she got them from Amazon and eBay, so we're totally good for a really long time. And what I see on Nicole, I love it. I'm excited to get ready to use it. And like I said, red is my favorite color, that's why I dye my hair. Majicontrast and HiColor are great for red hair. Majicontrast will always be the red hair dye of my life, but HiColor will be as well once I get started and after I finish Majicontrast cause I have 5 left. I love red hair.
Hi :) My question is not Really about how to dye my hair red but you seemed an expert so here it is: I have bright red hair at the moment,even brighter than that and a bit on the pinkish side. Now I wanna go purple (a sort of dark lavender precisely the lavender by crazy color) and I wanted to know if I had to bleach my hair again or if it's going to stay in my hair which at the moment is light red/light pink because I haven't dyed it in a month! :)
If you bleached it before, and the pick has faded you should be able to just put the purple over top because purples cover pretty good. If it's a manic panic or a punky colour type of dye, and you have shiny soft silky hair, you MAY need to bleach to rough it up. If you've previously bleached, you probably wont need to though.
Sonia Lopez I know this is late but I used this dye 2 months after I dyed mine black and it worked very well! Kinda drys you hair out but if you use a deep conditioner when you wash the color out it completely takes that away.
Did the exact same process and the first time it came out same as hers my hair still was healthy but the second time I did it the next day and it fried random parts of my hair and just ruined it sooooo I had to go from long hair to a short bob....totally not blaming her I just want to assume her second time she did not use 30 volume developer again if I had a time machine I would have used 10 vol for the second process but you live n learn

This was so so helpful! I've been SUPER red before but somewhere in the last few years I've developed an allergy to bleach so even if I did want to bleach my hair first, now I can't! hopefully the amount of bleach in these won't blister my skin because I really want to try this product!!
OKAY Now i have a question. my hair is really dark dark brown. and i dyed my hair using hiColor loreal Magenta. I started from the bottom and stopped 2 inches from my roots . left the hair color on for 35 mins in a plastic bag and then dyed my hair onto the roots and left 5 mins. my roots are super red and 2 inches down has not even dyed. yes i dye my hair black very long time ago. so somebody tell me what i did wrong ??? I did the same exact thing with the same exact situation and had the same exact result. So yeah, I just did this like 2 hours ago too, soo I am going to head to Sally's tomorrow and have them help me so I'll write here what I did to fix it since I see so many people are having problems with it. :3 She did specify that if you had colored your hair black recently not to do it. I thought she meant like recently, recently, and I dyed mine like 2 months ago, of course the roots are bright red but nothing else is dyed, lol. So yeah it was definitely something I did wrong personally so I don't blame the video. :3
why not magenta instead of red? I saw another girl who used this same hair dye and brand just in "magenta". her reason was because she said when it fades it looks more pink and strawberry and when "red" in this dye fades, it's more orangy. I'd prefer the pink faded color instead of orange lol
This isn't really "without bleach" cause you're still bleaching your hair. you're just dying and bleaching at the same time. so its still the same amount of damage if you used regular bleach. Not trying to be rude or anything!
Apparently she DOESNT answer questions. I should have read the comments before trusting her video. I dont think her hair came out this red after two dye jobs. Why didnt she show her hair after the second dye like she did the first time? Probably cause she had to fix it.
As a cosmetologist these videos make me cringe. So much wrong and just completely utterly false information. Yes it did work for her but keep in mind EVERYONES HAIR IS DIFFERENT.
I'm sure everyone knows that not everyone's hair is going to to be the same & that is exactly why she stated "do your research!" She never stated it was just so you know, just in case you were not paying attention. Also, there are A LOT of "Cosmetologists" who are not all that great at coloring hair & they went to an actual College to do this sort of thing. For her to have been a non professional, she does a much better job than most professional stylists I know which is pretty sad. I honestly thought this was amazing. I have dark hair too & since I am going to attempt this as well doesn't mean I automatically assumed my hair will turn out EXACTLY like hers. It's called common sense! Just because she isn't a professional doesn't mean this is false information!!! It's HER way of getting her hair to turn out red & she was just sharing it with others. Harmless much? I think so. NO one said you had to attempt this nor do this method of choice. I do not trust anyone with my hair as well so taking a risk at home is much better for me too. If it makes you cringe then why are you watching these types of videos? I would stay clear of them if you are not fond of the idea of someone giving "their" opinion & showing others how "they" achieved a certain color. No hate, just saying ;)

Betty Riggs if your hair is thicker than hers u may need to use a higher volume of developer towards the end

This was so so helpful! I've been SUPER red before but somewhere in the last few years I've developed an allergy to bleach so even if I did want to bleach my hair first, now I can't! hopefully the amount of bleach in these won't blister my skin because I really want to try this product!!

OKAY Now i have a question. my hair is really dark dark brown. and i dyed my hair using hiColor loreal Magenta. I started from the bottom and stopped 2 inches from my roots . left the hair color on for 35 mins in a plastic bag and then dyed my hair onto the roots and left 5 mins. my roots are super red and 2 inches down has not even dyed. yes i dye my hair black very long time ago. so somebody tell me what i did wrong ??? PLEASE!!
If you want a magenta color you need to use hi color in RED 2 times & the 3rd time use magenta. So get 2 boxes of hicolor in red & 1 box of magenta.
I did the same exact thing with the same exact situation and had the same exact result. So yeah, I just did this like 2 hours ago too, soo I am going to head to Sally's tomorrow and have them help me so I'll write here what I did to fix it since I see so many people are having problems with it. :3
She did specify that if you had colored your hair black recently not to do it. I thought she meant like recently, recently, and I dyed mine like 2 months ago, of course the roots are bright red but nothing else is dyed, lol. So yeah it was definitely something I did wrong personally so I don't blame the video. :3
why not magenta instead of red? I saw another girl who used this same hair dye and brand just in "magenta". her reason was because she said when it fades it looks more pink and strawberry and when "red" in this dye fades, it's more orangy. I'd prefer the pink faded color instead of orange lol

This isn't really "without bleach" cause you're still bleaching your hair. you're just dying and bleaching at the same time. so its still the same amount of damage if you used regular bleach. Not trying to be rude or anything!
I just have trouble with covering all my hair. Yesterday I dyed my hair with a box and there are just patches of color.
Apparently she DOESNT answer questions. I should have read the comments before trusting her video. I dont think her hair came out this red after two dye jobs. Why didnt she show her hair after the second dye like she did the first time? Probably cause she had to fix it.

Mine did :) My natural hair color is dark brown. I dyed it twice and it turned out just like hers! I did not bleach it either.

As a cosmetologist these videos make me cringe. So much wrong and just completely utterly false information. Yes it did work for her but keep in mind EVERYONES HAIR IS DIFFERENT.
I'm sure everyone knows that not everyone's hair is going to to be the same & that is exactly why she stated "do your research!" She never stated it was just so you know, just in case you were not paying attention. Also, there are A LOT of "Cosmetologists" who are not all that great at coloring hair & they went to an actual College to do this sort of thing. For her to have been a non professional, she does a much better job than most professional stylists I know which is pretty sad. I honestly thought this was amazing. I have dark hair too & since I am going to attempt this as well doesn't mean I automatically assumed my hair will turn out EXACTLY like hers. It's called common sense! Just because she isn't a professional doesn't mean this is false information!!! It's HER way of getting her hair to turn out red & she was just sharing it with others. Harmless much? I think so. NO one said you had to attempt this nor do this method of choice. I do not trust anyone with my hair as well so taking a risk at home is much better for me too. If it makes you cringe then why are you watching these types of videos? I would stay clear of them if you are not fond of the idea of someone giving "their" opinion & showing others how "they" achieved a certain color. No hate, just saying ;)
I've gone from dark brown to bright red twice doing this. I've yet to meet anyone who's done it that it hasn't worked on.
