After spending lots of time in the 2018 BMW F90 M5, I ave been dying to get behind the wheels of a M5 Competition... Thankfully I have this absolute weapon for a week and plan on doing a proper review video in a few days.

Having covered 25K great miles in our G30 520d last year I can only imagine how great this M5 is - a total beast of a car!

I drove the 2018 M5 for a week in Germany (Bavaria) back in October. Owning an Audi RS3 I am a big fan of AWD sports sedans. The M5 is a complete monster in every aspect, raw power, beautiful sounds, and absolutely a joy to drive everyday.
Coming back to the US and getting in my 400hp RS3, it feels sluggish now. The M5 completely ruined my notions of what a "fast car" is and can be. 600+ HP with AWD... sign me up!

Piet Jansen this is much faster than the new 750 . Its even a bit quicker than the 760 li !
1000 lbs engine cover and 7,000 lbs ceramic brakes; I am surprised it can move at all. ;-)

I’m glad to say I walked into the store today. Picked out the best looking bmw I could find. I walked up to the front and I payed cash !!! Now I’m a proud owner of a bmw m5 hot wheels :)
I had one of these for 36 hours from BMW when my M3 was in.
It’s got to be the ultimate all round machine for everything you need. Truly awesome.
Follow up: I ended up buying a pre LCI in 2021, still got it and would really struggle to replace it. Awesome cars.

FIAMMA Definitely after you start driving it as you meant to and see them tyres and brakes disintegrating and bills pilling up then you realise it’s status car not sports car🤣👍

Yeah I’m sold. M5 vs rs6 don’t know which to get. M5 Plain looking understated just the way I like it.
One hell of a car!! I’ve driven a non comp version, and yet have no desire to own one. I actually found, that once you can use full power, in all weathers and all year round, there’s no challenge, no thrill.
Yeah the standard M5 is a bit like that, great GT car though. This one is miles sharper and feels 200kg lighter (It's not though)
Joe Achilles Hmmm.... must get myself a drive in one, or maybe I shouldn’t, only had the CS 3 months and absolutely over the moon with it, and most likely about £20k in negative equity 😂😂🙈🙈

What a gorgeous looking car. I'm not overly a BMW fan, but so far you've sold me on the Alpina B7 (with the Alpina boss driving), you've sold me on the M760Li and now the M5 Competition, although I have had a bit of a weakness for latter day M5's. The competition seems like just the sharp edge the M5 needed. I remember how deeply that V8 burbled when we drove to the Nürburgring 24H race with it. Can't wait to see the full review mate!

I got my M5 Competition on 01/01/2019, this car is insane. The power is unbelievable. It is impossible not to speed with this car and you never even realize how fast you are going. But it do becoming frustrating at certain points because you have all this power and can't really unleash it on normal roads. It is definitely a head turner and many other drivers try to press their luck with this car.

@M T Totally agree. Why did they stop making M5 estates?! I love the E60 wagon, but the ponderous SMG gearbox really puts me off.

Joe for the full review, when you drag race the M2, to demonstrate how fast the M5 is plant your foot but short shift at 3000 rpm or 4000 rpm to see if it could still beat it.

Great video Joe, saw one of these in the flesh for the first time last week and they are mint, they do need the carbon front splitter, extended rear spolier and side skirts to finish them off in my view and i hope BMW offer a choice of alloys in the near future.....seriously looking to replace my M3 Comp with one....looking forward to a rolling drag race with your M2 👍👍

The only negative for me are those pops & bangs from the exhaust when in sport mode. Just my opinion.
LOVE it! Got my sub. This is why I live in far North California where we have many endless (3 hr.s of tight turns) low traffic canyon roads to choose from....not that I can fit this particular car in my budget but my E92-M3 fits me well.
I love how when the speed is closely approaching the limit, he cuts to his face so you can't see him exceeding the road speed limit

Local BMW wouldn’t even allow me to make review in salon. They don’t even give press cars in Croatia. Only to potential costumers. 😔 Love the 5 series it was my dream car. 😍 I love this spec. Only BMW I reviewed are on on cars shows which is shame as I can’t even take one for test drive.

These F90’s are devastatingly quick I’ve only driven the regular one via bmwuk but it was a fantastic car...one day maybe 👌🏾😅
