The Endless Nightmare Of Loris Karius

  • One game. That’s all it takes to completely change the trajectory of a football career. For some, like Germany's 2014 World Cup hero Mario Götze, one game can propel you to superstardom. But there are others who aren't so lucky, and for fellow German Loris Karius, it took just one traumatic game for his promising career to crash and burn right before his eyes...

Tbf, this video brilliantly “highlights” exactly what was still in my memory in the events leading up to that final.
The one where the ball slices through his hands and onto the crossbar, among many other comedic errors to goals.
So, I was never at ease when he was number 1, and that final just sums everything up. I dont rate Mignolet at all, but Karius was another level of comedy. Thats how my memory of him was like.

This is delusion, most rival fans were laughing at him, and most Liverpool fans were upset. However Klopp wanted to keep him on, but he wasn’t good enough, football is not a charity, if you are not league standard you will not play as it hurts your team. He couldn’t get in over old shaky Adrian. for not keeping a player deemed not good enough in Turkey is a violation of the motto? You’ll Never Walk Alone is not about playing mediocre players, do you think it exempts players from bad performances, like should the local postman play at this point? Sergio Ramos got even more death threats. The dirt bag not only deliberately elbowed Karius in the head to give him the concussion, but he also deliberately injured Mo Salah, pinning Salah's arm in close as they were both running for a ball and nearly twisting his arm off from his shoulder. Salah had to leave the game if you remember. Most of the death threats against Ramos were not from Liverpools fans, but Salah's huge personal following in the Islamic world. None of the death threats ever seemed to bother Ramos, who continued playing at Real Madrid, then PSG, and is now at Sevilla.

He was elbowed by his left eye it knocked his vision out, anyone who has been hit hard enough near the eye knows how hard it is to play with. Same thing happened to me in a hockey game but with a knee, it wipes out your vision on that side, gives you double vision, you are so vulnerable. I didn't realise someone was pressing me until i saw them in my right eye, same thing would've happened with karius and the benzema goal. Then add on the effects of concussion, double vision from the collision then explains the bale mishandle.

The big problem that actually haunts me about this situation as a Liverpool fan is, WHY did we keep Simon (useless) Mignolet for so long, 1yr after Klopp took over he finally got the message and went to Mainz to get Karius (we could have had Bernd Leno or Ter-Stegen!!!! who were both available at the time but never mind) Had Mignolet been ditched under the end of Rogers tenure and certainly early in Klopps, then we would never have heard of Lorius Karius . As it is, the bloke was clearly out of his depth in the first few weeks with Klopp saying 'He's not ready' He was NEVER ready because he was MILES off being a top keeper for a major club. Very unlucky but could have easily been avoided had Klopp listened when he arrived to the criticism Mignolet was already getting for poor performances. We only bought him on the strength that he had stopped a million shots for Sunderland on their way to relegation. WHY did we get rid of Reina, stupid decision.

I also didn’t understand that about Klopp. It wasn’t just with Mignolet. He persisted in playing Thiago even though he was killing the tempo, but got rid of Gini instead. Even Henderson was a case of Klopp being persistent, when he started dropping Hendo at the end his true thoughts were actually on display. Persists with Nunez when his not playing well. I think that Klopp is just loyal to his players, and tries to give them enough chances to see if the can improve. But when he’s done with a player he is really done with them like Emre Can. Some things just didn’t make sense to me in Klopp’s thinking but it clearly was working as we did well, so it’s hard to argue about it.

A concussed player likely would not be aware that he is concussed, therfor he isn't gonna make the conscious and analytic decision to ask the coach to sub him off for the teams benefit. It is something that must be noticed by others, a severely concussed player cannot self diagnose himself because that would require an unimpaired sense of logical thinking. Which he can't do. Literally BECAUSE he is concussed.
When Kramer was concussed in the WC 2014 final he didn't even know what day it was and which game he played. He played another 14 minutes before the ref noticed that he was walking around disorientated and mainly spoke gibberish. He even said he doesn't actually have any memory from the game anymore.
