I served in the US Army from 1980-2005 (12B5PS) and was proud to serve alongside British troops in Europe during the Cold War, and during war in Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. You are our friends now and forever.
Oh wow, my grandfather served 22 years in the Marine Corps during that time as well! He is a Vietnam War veteran in fact and he told me some stories of what happened. He retired a Master Gunnery Sargent, still alive and doing good btw, and I not only respect him but ALL our troops! God bless 🙏

The Brits are more than "friends" , they are our closest ally and have the full force of our military behind you. The men and women of the British military that have worked alongside us are absolutely outstanding.

the closest ally of the United States is AUSTRALIA. we work more closely with the Aussies than any other nation on a military and intelligence community level. **** anyone who knows the intel community knows this **** other incredibly close allies are Norway and Denmark. Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, India...all close allies. if shit goes down, UK, Canada, France...all allies. Israel is an important ally but nowhere near as important as the G20 nation allies

US Navy story here- one of my husbands junior sailors went missing… on one of this carriers. He wasn’t overboard. He was literally just lost on board. For about 3 days.
It’s a skyscraper in the water with tiny little hallways and super steep stairs and everything looks the same lol I don’t blame him but he probably got smoked (as in screamed at)
I can believe that. Those carriers are like floating cities. My dad was in the US Navy for 20 years. He served on Destroyers, the smallest ship in the fleet at the time. My 2 brothers, mom and I once got to have dinner aboard his ship with his Captain in the Captain’s dining quarters. I wore a dress and had to climb up and down those steep ladders, at age of 12. It was an honor I’ll never forget. I also got to go on an active German submarine that was docked in the ship yard when we lived overseas in Guantanamo Bay Cuba. I have so many great memories growing up as a Navy brat.

Some of the bravest men I’ve ever seen and have the highest respect for, were the RAF Spitfire pilots, though undermanned and outgunned, staved off the Nazis during the Battle of Britain. I had a brother who retired from the Air Force then worked for different defense contractors. For his last 5 or 6 years in the Air Force and his jobs after that, no one in the family including his wife knew what he did for work.

My grandmother was straight from England. She moved here in the 50s and still had her British accent when she passed a couple years ago. She used to go back every year for a month at a time. She was the sweetest person I have ever known. God I miss her!! 😢

I have to agree that it would be practically impossible to take over the country itself. Probably closer to 150 million gun owner with almost 400 million guns. Considering the population of the US is 320 million people. So, nearly half of the population owns at least one gun with more guns existing than people. 99% of the gun owners in the US are responsible but it’s the other 1% that continually make the news and puts our 2nd Amendment rights in jeopardy. As long as our 2nd Amendment exists and we are allowed to bear arms, the US soil is completely safe from a hostile takeover from other countries. From our own government, however, is another story thus the reason for the existence of the 2nd Amendment. For those that hate the fact that we are a very well-armed nation with strong allies around the world should be thankful that we are not currently speaking German right now and will not be speaking Mandarine Chinese in the future.

When I took my small children to a park near an Air-Force Base in America, I looked above us into the sky and saw a stealth bomber that was completely silent. It made me realize how amazing our Air Force truly is. These bombers are constantly being improved which is incredibly surprising and impressive!
I've said it many times, but one could argue that America's greatest strength is its allies. The US and the UK are much more than friends, we're family. There isn't another pair of allies in the world that are as close as the US and UK. The only ones that come close are both countries' relationship with either Canada or Australia.

As a country we as Americans have exsisted for roughly 300 years and we've spent over 270 of those years fighting.. Most of our battles we did not start, but rather policed to maintain a level of ethical dignity and the Geneva convention. Now those are not exact. It might be like 250 and something like 220 years waring. As for the Biritsh two of my best friends are Chaps n Blokes. That said we didn't just become friends with the strongest country in the world at the time. We had to fight and bleed togather for over 100 years to get to where we are today. Mutual respect.
I got out of the military in 92 after my six year hitch, and I can tell you that there was so much stuff we had back then that people still don't know about. So I can't imagine what it's at now.
I graduated.....err retired from the Air Force in 2010. The technology we have is insane to say the least. We're only seeing the dummy versions of the drones etc in the videos. Many have yet to see the AI weaponry and drone swarms. Many have yet, and hope they never, experience the laser technology we've created...both on the planet, and in space.

I was in the Air Force, my next youngest brother went into the Army and our last brother went into the Navy. No more brothers for Marines or Coast Guard.
While in the USMC, we were stationed on a RAAF base in AUS. Our pilots were there to teach the "dog fighting" techniques as well as rapid response and rapid aircraft turnover redeployment after flight runs. In other words, fastest ways to refuel and reload so the aircraft can return to the fight.
There are aspects like that all over the military. There are a lot of aircraft and weapons that never see the light of day despite being superior in most every way to what is currently being used. Sometimes it comes down to resources that are rare or expensive to produce, other times is about specific components that aren't reliable or costly and time consuming manufacture, other times it would just take to long to retrain general soldiers to use them. Then there is always the time issue where in a product can be in development so long that is becomes out of date by the time its ready to be used. It wouldn't surprise me if 1 concept makes it to the battlefield for every 20 - 30 that never see actual combat for a variety of reasons.

I work on an Air Force base here in the states, so I have dealt w/ the RAF several times, and they are the nicest and friendliest people I know. I'm glad that we're allies, and I know we have each others backs when the proverbial shit hits the fan!!!
You are correct, there are a bunch of top secret weapons that are already in service and deployed around the world. Lasers and drones will be the weapons of the future. Armies will not need to be deployed as heavy as in the past. What they showed is child’s play compared to what is out there now.
I am a Veteran Paratrooper of the 82nd Airborne Division, they failed to mention our ground forces that are the best trained and equipped in the world. Also, yeah the weapons they don't show you are pretty damn awe inspiring!
I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath during 911. The love and respect shown by our British family has always stayed with me. The front of the base next to the main gate was covered with flowers. I will always remember that image.
The B2 bomber is totally awesome. I live near it's home base. I find it amazing that you dont know it's overhead, or even hear it until it's long gone.

It's better to have economic allies than to still be enemies with Brittain, Japan, Germany, Italy, etc. At the end of the day, Americans aren't really that much different from Brits anyway. Certain customs and mannerisms differ, but in most ways the Brits and US are close cousins....at least in my view. Every time I chat with one or engage in discussions, it's like I'm interacting with another American.
The US Navy does have 11 "super carriers" but what is never told is that we also have 10 amphibious assault carriers that haul around several helicopters and V-22 Ospreys but also 25 or so, depending on the mission, F-35s. The STOVL one that you guys bought. So the US actually has 21 carriers. Super carriers mass 100,000 tons, the "baby flattops" mass 45,000 tons. HMS Queen Elizabeth masses 65,000 tons for comparison.
It's rarely mentioned the size of the support/transport naval fleet the US operates. As a country isolated by ocean getting all of our military might to other places is a Herculean effort that is mind-bogglingly complex. That fact alone is why our navy and air force are so ridiculously powerful. That's the mobility to project our power. Enormous transport ships and air craft and hundreds of foreign forward operating bases around the world.
There are actually 8 Wasp class and 6 America class amphibious assault carriers right now. Along with 13 American carriers in service sense there are the USS Gerald R Ford and the USS John F Kennedy are part of the new Ford class of carriers that are operational also.

About 8 years ago I was in the US National Guard and we had some British troops staying with us and training with us. It was so much fun to mess with them because they had no idea how stupid and crazy we could be 🤣. But they definitely messed with us as well.
We did a join mission with the Portuguese Marines. Well it was a joint mission with a bunch of countries but we were setup in Portugal and the Portuguese Marines were there to guard our base. They were all 18-20 year olds and wiry. We hung out with them every night at the discos. They were like our own private security. Some of the locals did not like that the girls were paying us attention so they became upset and when that happened here comes the Portuguese Marines to take them outside to have a discussion. :) We played them in soccer and got our butts whooped. But we played them in football and whooped them. They were younger and fast. We had size and brute strength on our side. We may not be as fast as them but we could knock them down easier :) They loved our MRE's...Even the nasty omelettes.

I was stationed at WSMR, NM in the late 90's. I'm not allowed to give interviews or write books on anything WSMR related until 2032. That's how serious they are about development. I also worked with British brothers in Iraq. Upstanding and honorable the entire time. Made no doubt they had our backs. We'd prefer to take care of problems ourselves - but they showed up every time we called. Mass respect.
I think something that couldn't be overstated is the effect of having a heavily armed population. It may seem a bit weird to people from the outside but it's something that stemmed from the defensive nature of our country in the Revolutionary War
Thank God it's the US that has these capabilities. A good offense is the best defense, or as our President Theodore Roosevelt said, "Walk softly, but carry a big stick!" We've got many big sticks, so we don't have to use them.

The greatest asset of the US Military is the ability to keep it all supplied. Aircraft Carriers get resupplied at least once a week. All the power is only as good as the supply chain supporting it. This is where the US is truly second to none.
We Americans have 4 elite branches. Army , Navy, Air Force, and a undeniable killer branch, Marines. But don't sleep on our close defense. The Coast Guard. And a whole infrastructure of local services. Also the pride of them all, our civilian.
I too hold high respect for England as one of our Allies. And I also love it that America has become the police of the world. We're not afraid to bring the fight to your shores.

I'm surprised that they didn't mention the Railguns and Laser systems nearly into service. It's no secret that we have them anymore. Also, the US Department of "Defense" spent $705 Billion USD last year ($520 Billion Pounds UK) on weapons systems, stuff to fire out of those weapon systems, and people to use those weapons systems to fire stuff out of.

They have a new Laser Anti Air system that is ready to deploy on Land and on Ships and can shoot down ANY Missile including the new China/Russia Hypersonic ones. When I was in Iraq in 2004 we had so much ammo on base we were ordered to come back from our patrol in fallujah with very little . When he talks about 11 carriers he is not mentioning the 9 other carriers for the marines.
I know someone who works for the military NAS. He has the highest level of security clearance there is. He told me that if the American public could see some of the information that crosses his desk on a daily basis, there would be 80-year-old grandmother's beating on the doors of recritment centers demanding that they give her a weapon.

It’s nearly impossible to sink a carrier as it’s so well armored. We actually fired at a decommissioned one from right before the Nimitz class as target practice and to build an artificial reef. We fired so much ammo and missiles into it but nothing happened except scorch marks. It took explosions below the waterline and ten times more explosives than what was needed to do the job as the decommissioned carrier took everything yet still stood tall on the ocean. We actually moved the armor to the Nimitz class or at least the blueprints to get the best out of it. We kept the best design and gave it new life. Now the new ford class will likely be even stronger thanks to a retool of the old armor design. The guns are still being tested but rumors are swirling about a rail gun or em gun on the carrier.
I assume you're referring to the USS America. Aren't the details of her sinking classified? Just to clarify, carriers don't have thick exterior armor the way battleships did.
@@JPMadden actually under American law blueprints must be available publicly no matter what. Just a few cannot be made public. The difference is that it doesn’t show armor specs just the interiors. So by concluding the armor design was so good that it was likely improved upon on with armor if you think logically. Blueprints also don’t say a specific office or space it simply says office number or main office or captain office or VIP room as you honestly don’t know who or what will take that office or space just that it will be taken. The only things on an aircraft carrier that doesn’t change are the three elevators and the hanger space as those are what the ship is built around.
@@yugioht42 Thanks for the info. The word "armor" is not typically associated with aircraft carriers. I googled how thick are their hulls. The only information I found is that both the Nimitz-class and Ford-class have 2.5 inches (64 mm) of Kevlar armor surrounding their "vital spaces" and that they have more and better watertight compartments than earlier carriers. They rely on multiple layers of defensive weaponry provided by the entire task force, rather than thick, heavy armored hulls that battleships used and were slowed down by.
I would add that the purpose of stealth isn't necessarily to be sneaky or whatever. The purpose is to be unable to be targeted by weapons systems. Even if you can see a stealth aircraft, you can't hit it with a guided missile.

Most Americans, including myself, view the British as our brothers and sisters. Technically, we are your children. We were a colony of the British that fought for and won our independence, but still most of our laws and much of our culture is due to the British. So most of us have very strong and positive emotional ties to the U.K. (Now if we could only speak proper English... lol ) A few months after the attacks of 9:11 and after we had launched attacks into Afghanistan, (Which the British Army was part of) I met some U.K. Soldiers who had been training in North America. They were on a short leave before heading off to Afghanistan. I was so overcome with emotion... because for my whole life, and long before I was born, the United States had always sent troops to help our friends and allies, especially Britain in World War 1 and 2. But now during America's time of need, British soldiers had come to our aid. There were about 6 British troops at the bar, and I paid for their meal and all their drinks as a show of respect and kinship. I ended the evening with a toast. God Bless America and God save the Queen. We will always be friends.
I'm a Canadian but that was well said. As a Canadian I thank all of our allies and friends around the world. I have had great experiences with many people around the world. This is why I'm so proud to be Canadian. The day 9-11 tragically happend, Canada was home to thousands of Americans and people around the world who had to land in our country. It’s impossible to fully separate the USA and the UK in any manner. For instance, the common law of England on the date each state was admitted to the USA is the pre-existing law for that state. It can only be superseded by statute or court precedent. The vast majority of major legal principles cite the exact same English cases. It’s not unheard of for American attorneys to have to research old English cases from hundreds of years ago.

I was born and raised in the USA, but my mother is from South Wales, and I have been to the UK 6 times.. we'd never want to go to war with Britain. As you can see in the other comments, pretty much everyone here has a very positive view of the UK. 1776 was a long time ago.

The good part is that Britain is our ancestral homeland (most of us) and we're past the fighting and are on the same side, and we often share or develop technology together, so they use a lot of the stuff we use.

The average number of guns owned per person is around 5. So an average of 5 guns x 220,000,000 patriots = 1,100,000,000 billion guns. The reason the military is so great for America to is not just the invincibility it provides our homeland, but the critical skills, jobs, and opportunity it gives Americans. The military allows a poor, uneducated, and undisciplined person from the ghetto like I was, to make 35 grand a year, learn skills that will translate to real world, have free health, housing, and food, and get a free education. Not to mention the industrials jobs and civilian contract/DoD jobs created by the purchase of Supercarriers, Tanks, Guns, Aircraft, Helicopters, and Munitions. Also, America is an outlier. If America wasn't a thing, Britain would still have complete control of the seas. Two supercarriers are insane, eleven is just well, American (aka Insane X 100)

My dad was in the US Navy for 20 years. He served on Destroyers, the smallest ship in the fleet at the time. My 2 brothers, mom and I once got to have dinner aboard his ship with his Captain in the Captain’s dining quarters. I wore a dress and had to climb up and down those steep ladders, at age of 12. It was an honor I’ll never forget. I also got to go on an active German submarine that was docked in the ship yard when we lived overseas in Guantanamo Bay Cuba. I have so many great memories growing up as a Navy brat.

Some of the bravest men I’ve ever seen and have the highest respect for, were the RAF Spitfire pilots, though undermanned and outgunned, staved off the Nazis during the Battle of Britain. I have to agree that it would be practically impossible to take over the country itself. Probably closer to 150 million gun owner with almost 400 million guns. Considering the population of the US is 320 million people. So, nearly half of the population owns at least one gun with more guns existing than people. 99% of the gun owners in the US are responsible but it’s the other 1% that continually make the news and puts our 2nd Amendment rights in jeopardy. As long as our 2nd Amendment exists and we are allowed to bear arms, the US soil is completely safe from a hostile takeover from other countries. From our own government, however, is another story thus the reason for the existence of the 2nd Amendment. For those that hate the fact that we are a very well-armed nation with strong allies around the world should be thankful that we are not currently speaking German right now and will not be speaking Mandarine Chinese in the future.

When I took my small children to a park near an Air-Force Base in America, I looked above us into the sky and saw a stealth bomber that was completely silent. It made me realize how amazing our Air Force truly is. These bombers are constantly being improved which is incredibly surprising and impressive!
I've said it many times, but one could argue that America's greatest strength is its allies. The US and the UK are much more than friends, we're family. There isn't another pair of allies in the world that are as close as the US and UK. The only ones that come close are both countries' relationship with either Canada or Australia.

I think you are confusing the patriotism of your ancestors for your reverence/worship of those ancestors - they are not the same thing.
Ancestor reverence/worship is a very common practice that predates Christianity - there's no shame in calling it what it is, and considering that it is often observed by Christians (visiting graves at Church cemetaries) despite having nothing to do with Christian religion there is no shame in it from that perspective either.
Also learning "learning from and respecting the wars my ancestors fought and died for" is just basic history education - without this people are doomed to repeat past mistakes over and over again, sadly the US and us Brits keep making those same mistakes anyway.

I got out of the military in 92 after my six year hitch, and I can tell you that there was so much stuff we had back then that people still don't know about. So I can't imagine what it's at now.
I graduated.....err retired from the Air Force in 2010. The technology we have is insane to say the least. We're only seeing the dummy versions of the drones etc in the videos. Many have yet to see the AI weaponry and drone swarms. Many have yet, and hope they never, experience the laser technology we've created...both on the planet, and in space.
Must of been all the stuff that slowed us to conquer the Taliban and blow them out of their caves. Oh, wait… nevermind.

I was in the Air Force, my next youngest brother went into the Army and our last brother went into the Navy. No more brothers for Marines or Coast Guard.
While in the USMC, we were stationed on a RAAF base in AUS. Our pilots were there to teach the "dog fighting" techniques as well as rapid response and rapid aircraft turnover redeployment after flight runs. In other words, fastest ways to refuel and reload so the aircraft can return to the fight.

There are aspects like that all over the military. There are a lot of aircraft and weapons that never see the light of day despite being superior in most every way to what is currently being used. Sometimes it comes down to resources that are rare or expensive to produce, other times is about specific components that aren't reliable or costly and time consuming manufacture, other times it would just take to long to retrain general soldiers to use them. Then there is always the time issue where in a product can be in development so long that is becomes out of date by the time its ready to be used.
It wouldn't surprise me if 1 concept makes it to the battlefield for every 20 - 30 that never see actual combat for a variety of reasons.
Makes me proud to be an American! And happy to know the USA and the UK have each other's backs anytime the need arises!

I work on an Air Force base here in the states, so I have dealt w/ the RAF several times, and they are the nicest and friendliest people I know. I'm glad that we're allies, and I know we have each others backs when the proverbial shit hits the fan!!!

It's better to have economic allies than to still be enemies with Brittain, Japan, Germany, Italy, etc. At the end of the day, Americans aren't really that much different from Brits anyway. Certain customs and mannerisms differ, but in most ways the Brits and US are close cousins....at least in my view. Every time I chat with one or engage in discussions, it's like I'm interacting with another American.
The US Navy does have 11 "super carriers" but what is never told is that we also have 10 amphibious assault carriers that haul around several helicopters and V-22 Ospreys but also 25 or so, depending on the mission, F-35s. The STOVL one that you guys bought. So the US actually has 21 carriers. Super carriers mass 100,000 tons, the "baby flattops" mass 45,000 tons. HMS Queen Elizabeth masses 65,000 tons for comparison.
It's rarely mentioned the size of the support/transport naval fleet the US operates. As a country isolated by ocean getting all of our military might to other places is a Herculean effort that is mind-bogglingly complex. That fact alone is why our navy and air force are so ridiculously powerful. That's the mobility to project our power. Enormous transport ships and air craft and hundreds of foreign forward operating bases around the world.
There are actually 8 Wasp class and 6 America class amphibious assault carriers right now. Along with 13 American carriers in service sense there are the USS Gerald R Ford and the USS John F Kennedy are part of the new Ford class of carriers that are operational also.

About 8 years ago I was in the US National Guard and we had some British troops staying with us and training with us. It was so much fun to mess with them because they had no idea how stupid and crazy we could be 🤣. But they definitely messed with us as well.
We did a join mission with the Portuguese Marines. Well it was a joint mission with a bunch of countries but we were setup in Portugal and the Portuguese Marines were there to guard our base. They were all 18-20 year olds and wiry. We hung out with them every night at the discos. They were like our own private security. Some of the locals did not like that the girls were paying us attention so they became upset and when that happened here comes the Portuguese Marines to take them outside to have a discussion. :)
We played them in soccer and got our butts whooped. But we played them in football and whooped them. They were younger and fast. We had size and brute strength on our side. We may not be as fast as them but we could knock them down easier :) They loved our MRE's...Even the nasty omelettes.

I was stationed at WSMR, NM in the late 90's. I'm not allowed to give interviews or write books on anything WSMR related until 2032. That's how serious they are about development.
I also worked with British brothers in Iraq. Upstanding and honorable the entire time. Made no doubt they had our backs. We'd prefer to take care of problems ourselves - but they showed up every time we called. Mass respect.

I think something that couldn't be overstated is the effect of having a heavily armed population. It may seem a bit weird to people from the outside but it's something that stemmed from the defensive nature of our country in the Revolutionary War

The greatest asset of the US Military is the ability to keep it all supplied. Aircraft Carriers get resupplied at least once a week. All the power is only as good as the supply chain supporting it. This is where the US is truly second to none.

The marines is the middle ground between special forces and regular front line troops.

When I was in Iraq in 2004 we had so much ammo on base we were ordered to come back from our patrol in fallujah with very little . When he talks about 11 carriers he is not mentioning the 9 other carriers for the marines.
I know someone who works for the military NAS. He has the highest level of security clearance there is. He told me that if the American public could see some of the information that crosses his desk on a daily basis, there would be 80-year-old grandmother's beating on the doors of recritment centers demanding that they give her a weapon.

It’s nearly impossible to sink a carrier as it’s so well armored. We actually fired at a decommissioned one from right before the Nimitz class as target practice and to build an artificial reef. We fired so much ammo and missiles into it but nothing happened except scorch marks. It took explosions below the waterline and ten times more explosives than what was needed to do the job as the decommissioned carrier took everything yet still stood tall on the ocean. We actually moved the armor to the Nimitz class or at least the blueprints to get the best out of it. We kept the best design and gave it new life. Now the new ford class will likely be even stronger thanks to a retool of the old armor design. The guns are still being tested but rumors are swirling about a rail gun or em gun on the carrier.
I assume you're referring to the USS America. Aren't the details of her sinking classified? Just to clarify, carriers don't have thick exterior armor the way battleships did.

@@JPMadden actually under American law blueprints must be available publicly no matter what. Just a few cannot be made public. The difference is that it doesn’t show armor specs just the interiors.
So by concluding the armor design was so good that it was likely improved upon on with armor if you think logically. Blueprints also don’t say a specific office or space it simply says office number or main office or captain office or VIP room as you honestly don’t know who or what will take that office or space just that it will be taken. The only things on an aircraft carrier that doesn’t change are the three elevators and the hanger space as those are what the ship is built around.
@@yugioht42 Thanks for the info. The word "armor" is not typically associated with aircraft carriers. I googled how thick are their hulls. The only information I found is that both the Nimitz-class and Ford-class have 2.5 inches (64 mm) of Kevlar armor surrounding their "vital spaces" and that they have more and better watertight compartments than earlier carriers. They rely on multiple layers of defensive weaponry provided by the entire task force, rather than thick, heavy armored hulls that battleships used and were slowed down by.

I would add that the purpose of stealth isn't necessarily to be sneaky or whatever. The purpose is to be unable to be targeted by weapons systems. Even if you can see a stealth aircraft, you can't hit it with a guided missile.
The US is anything but sneaky. Besides special forces, but you’ll still know those are coming if you fuck with us.
You can still down one with an IR missile, but IR missiles have a much shorter range than a radar guided missile.

Most Americans, including myself, view the British as our brothers and sisters. Technically, we are your children. We were a colony of the British that fought for and won our independence, but still most of our laws and much of our culture is due to the British. So most of us have very strong and positive emotional ties to the U.K. (Now if we could only speak proper English... lol ) A few months after the attacks of 9:11 and after we had launched attacks into Afghanistan, (Which the British Army was part of) I met some U.K. Soldiers who had been training in North America. They were on a short leave before heading off to Afghanistan. I was so overcome with emotion... because for my whole life, and long before I was born, the United States had always sent troops to help our friends and allies, especially Britain in World War 1 and 2. But now during America's time of need, British soldiers had come to our aid. There were about 6 British troops at the bar, and I paid for their meal and all their drinks as a show of respect and kinship. I ended the evening with a toast.

This is why I'm so proud to be Canadian. The day 9-11 tragically happend, Canada was home to thousands of Americans and people around the world who had to land in our country. It’s impossible to fully separate the USA and the UK in any manner. For instance, the common law of England on the date each state was admitted to the USA is the pre-existing law for that state. It can only be superseded by statute or court precedent. The vast majority of major legal principles cite the exact same English cases. It’s not unheard of for American attorneys to have to research old English cases from hundreds of years ago.

I was born and raised in the USA, but my mother is from South Wales, and I have been to the UK 6 times.. we'd never want to go to war with Britain. As you can see in the other comments, pretty much everyone here has a very positive view of the UK. 1776 was a long time ago.

The good part is that Britain is our ancestral homeland (most of us) and we're past the fighting and are on the same side, and we often share or develop technology together, so they use a lot of the stuff we use.

I would put around 220,000,000 people that would pick up arms against any invasion. The average number of guns owned per person is around 5. So an average of 5 guns x 220,000,000 patriots = 1,100,000,000 billion guns. I assure you that the ammo for said weapons is double what is needed.

The reason the military is so great for America to is not just the invincibility it provides our homeland, but the critical skills, jobs, and opportunity it gives Americans. The military allows a poor, uneducated, and undisciplined person from the ghetto like I was, to make 35 grand a year, learn skills that will translate to real world, have free health, housing, and food, and get a free education. Not to mention the industrials jobs and civilian contract/DoD jobs created by the purchase of Supercarriers, Tanks, Guns, Aircraft, Helicopters, and Munitions.
Also, America is an outlier. If America wasn't a thing, Britain would still have complete control of the seas. Two supercarriers are insane, eleven is just well, American (aka Insane X 100)
I was a reactor mechanic onboard the Nimitz. It was truly an amazing machine and experience, but she’d be nothing without her crew.
