    I really appreciate/enjoy the videos where you talk us through the process and the reasons behind your/the company's decisions ... really helps a layman understand a little more about what you do and why you do it the way you do!

    Hope you don't mind me asking but would it be possible for you to do a time-lapse video of the pond filling up after you finished the final jam as it would be really interesting to see

      Not sure how feasible that would be for him. I might be wrong, but I think I remember him saying he has to drive a couple of hours or something like that to get to the job.

    Have mercy, Chris.....mega pucker power here watching you on the side of that hill....even though the red dirt is pretty! Loving every second of this. I agree with "sumo selly" below, asking for a time lapse of the pond filling up. Impossible to do because of the time involved. But at least two of us would love it.

    One doesn't really get a good sense of how massive that dam is until you move uphill and start videoing the skid steer and roller working below. Then it's like: "Holy shit! that dam is huge!" Great job capturing the true magnitude of the dam!

    So I bought an excavator, a dump truck, and a bulldozer so I could dig a pond on my property. But then I watch all these guys on here, and they have other machines to compact the soil. I thought you could compact it just by the weight of the dozer. Hopefully my pond works out.

    The compressing value of the rock truck is based on the PSI in the tires, regardless of the load in the hopper. Check the specs of your equipment. There is usually a ground pressure in PSI. A small tracked vehicle usually has 7 to 10 PSI. My 13,000 pound Case 450 crawler only put down 8 PSI in ground pressure with 14 inch pads. A Cat D9 has only 16 PSI of ground pressure. Those rock trucks run tire pressures of 25 to 50 PSI. Most about 40 PSI. They put down 2 1/2 times the pressure of a D-9 that weighs the same. That Dynapac roller in vibratory mode should put down some compaction effort. Your Volvo excavator only has 6-7 PSI of ground pressure. A highway dump truck will have 80 to 100 PSI.

    Besides the "hold my beer" moment when you had the excavator damn near vertical (lol) the thing that makes all your videos worth watching is you're "practicalities" and "personable" you know (within reason) what everyone's thinking. Beautiful dirt-load the dumper rather than waste time with the dozer and so on. You know you're shit and it's just another day for you. Gotta get it done and be smart doin it by any means necessary. This project is gonna be bad ass when its done! Be safe and keep the videos coming!

I finally figured out you were building a platform to sit on when you were climbing that clay bank. I hope you know you are educating a lot of people including me on the proper way to do construction. • @bluemtnsman
      @bluemtnsman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Todd Roberts,,, it is a well compacted clay structure that inhibits water from seeping under the base of the dam. Without it the hydraulic pressure or head pressure could cause water to undermine the dam.
