I used to love this game and then, when I moved, I threw away my collection of originals, at least 25 models from original sets to old Constitutions to even Borg. Now, I completely regret it, but can't replace it because no one stocks the game anymore lol.

Same issue here. When the game died down a bit locally, I sold off a lot of my old collection (I used to own at least one of everything for the game up to wave 23 or so). Now that I'm getting back into it, replacing a lot of the stuff is next to impossible. At least I kept my favorite stuff.

This video tipped me over the edge, just placed an order for the set!

Thanks for the review. They also didn't update the missions in the rulebook. They are for the original Fed/Kli/Rom starter set.

Yeah that is what I thought. For some reason I was thinking that there were three missions in the original book, but looking back it was just those same two.

The wings on the B'rel are painted. The ship is a light metallic green and the "wings" are a light gold. It's not as much contrast as before but they are painted.

they certainly don't look like it on mine.

@@Trueflights The reprint you have doesn't seem as detailed as the original run of this Fed/Kli starter set.

@@ministryatmackillopcollege4176 I noticed that with a lot of the ships from this latest print run. They even used older sculpts of some of the ship models (like the Sao Paulo/Defiant in the Federation Faction Pack). Someone mentioned that they had a problem somewhere and had to revert to some of the older ship molds for this latest batch.

Yeah they did have a problem with the molds from old producer to who they are currently using. Some were lost or broken.
Very good drop and yeah my biggest problem is the cards are very thin. I’d put them in card sleeves for extra toughness ASAP. Can’t wait for the card thoughts.

I noticed the model thing with the Federation Faction pack. They used the original model for the Sao Paulo (Defiant) instead of the much more detailed version that came out years later.
I always sleeve my Attack Wing cards anyway. They have had about the same quality since the game was released. The black boarders on them tend to scuff and wear quickly. They get handled a lot as well, be it at the table or when you are rifling though them to make a build.
A video for the Federation cards will be coming out tomorrow and the Klingons will be out on Sunday.

I wish the system was hex based like the FASA version. Range rulers and templates are fiddly.

They can be, but at the same time the maneuver templates actually make it feel like you are flying a ship rather than just moving around a grid. As much as I like the old hex based systems, this works so much better to simulate flight. Aeronautica Imperials was a recent game that tried to use a hex based system to represent flight and it kind of fell flat for most people.

@@Trueflights Yeah, not sure what it’s like to fly a ship. I’m a veteran of several of the tactical maneuver systems. I have the original Wings of War WWI, XWing 1.0 and 2.0 and SW Armada. I still have the FASA Tactical simulator, Talon, Full Thrust, SFB and Fed Commander. I recently picked up Trek Attack Wing. There is quite a bit to appreciate about all of them. What I have found is that the simultaneous impulse movement system and diverse firing arcs of the original SFB is pure elegance. No firing opportunity is missed if one masters maneuver. Firing arcs and range is easy to determine by looking down a hex row or spline and counting. Looking back, I’m finding that I really dislike the card play in some of these games. The more of the newer games I play the more I appreciate the original mechanics.

@@bneil4059 If you played X-Wing, then you know that this is the exact same system from that game. They have made some fine tuning to the upgrade mechanics (mostly when it comes to crew, since you have a much larger ship with more crew options), but overall it is the same game. I personally prefer X-Wing when it comes to most things like this, but I feel that the small upgrades that they made to the system make Attack Wing a much better game overall. I just wish that they would take those ideas and add them into X-Wing. 2.0 was not the answer we were looking for.

I ordered mine direct from Wizkids (I actually bought this one as opposed to the stuff they give me from time to time for reviews). They were out of stock again within a couple days of me ordering it though.
