Thank you. There are many Orthodox believers in the US (but certainly not as many as in Russia). I've heard that it is the fastest growing religion in the USA. It is certainly one of the fastest growing if not the actual fastest. I think my church has on average 20 adults baptised each year and they are almost all Americans (all different races though; not just whites). My family's background is Orthodox but i wasn't raised in the faith. I only started going to the Orthodox Church when I was 20 something so I guess I'm somewhat of a convert also. I always look to Russia as our mother in the faith because Orthodoxy came to North America from Russian Empire. I love our Orthodox faith and I love Russia very much also!
Came to the East from the west. There are over 35,000 denominations in the world today, and 10 new ones every day. Many of them are of only one parish. It seems that everyone wants to be Pope of his own little sect. However, The Holy orthodox Catholic Christian Church, founded on the Day of Pentacost in 33 AD, by the Holy Spirit upon the Holy Apostles and Desciples, is not now or ever was one of those denominations or sects.
i was formerly protestant (for 28+ years) before learning about Eastern Orthodoxy, and now i am a catechumen in the Orthodox Church. Christ talked about divorce and it was permitted only in case of fornication/adultery. The early Church also expanded this to include cases of desertion and abuse against spouse &/or children. Also Paul spoke in the Spirit of remarriage and such 1 Corinthians 7
How zealous and faithful to Traditional Orthodox Christianity the simple people of Alaska have shown themselves Roto be! GOD BLESS THEM! I know this is three years old, but I wanted to say this. How, does what calendar we use is necessary to our salvation? Because you say it like they have committed grand heresy, even though using the same calendar as the rest of the world is like agreeing with the world. By your logic, we should not drink the same water as the world, as if somehow we take some bad spiritual energy from it. Please do not mistake pettiness and pride for piety, as that is the road to perdition. Thank you, and God Bless you

mrdoishiman - That sounds like self-assuredness, not humble honesty about one's own sinfulness or CONSTANT need for Christ, which would lead one to embrace His BODY, The Church, you cannot separate the Incarnate Son from His body, he's not a Ghost or the founder of a philosophy. Without the Eucharist in the Church He founded (over and against all the modern sects founded in the West), no matter how much "head believing" one does, they do not abide in Christ nor have Life in them (John 6:52-58).
I've been to a Russian Orthodox Church... A Saint Hermon's one anyways... I don't want to sound rude, but I was raised to seek after God fully every since I was a boy, I grew up worshiping God through the gifts of the Spirit and music... When I visited the Russian Orthodox Church, I was very depressed and I cried afterwards... Their was no life... and ever since then, I have had a negative view on Orthodoxy. If a church does not have life within the service, then it's just a dead congregation.
Emotional services and inspirational music that also stirs emotions doesn't mean that there is life any more than being exited at a football game makes you a pro football player. Emotions are fickle. Any religion that is directed at man and not God you should question. Never seek entertainment or what you want from God. Focus outside your own desires to God.
Orthodox is mostly Roman , Ottoman and Turkish Culture . Bible is written in Anatolia , so it is mix of Arab culture from Throat and Roman Culture from Anatolia , the Orthodox one must be the root Bible as it is totally includes Anatolian Roman and Ottoman culture , as Orthodox style chanting of music called "Nihavend " has been created in Ottoman's Sultan Fatih time (It is de crease , fates and then in crease to happy end as it express the relive ! , Nihavend's word meaning is Huge Door , and there is a City in Iran with this name ) and Sultan Fatih was also the saver of Orthodoxy as when he conquered Constantinapol and made it Istanbul , he learned that Catholic Church , short time ago , shot down the Orthodox Church and got all it's followers to itself , than Sultan Fatih signed a new Patriarch to Orthodoxy Church and gave it power much more than it had in Byzantine Times , Orthodox church became a Divan member of Ottoman with the Wezir statue , which was the highest position some one can have after Sultan , so all Orthodox Priests started to wear Sultan or Ottoman Soldiers "Yeni Cheri " like head wears as they were the Church of a strong Empire and has a highest position in it , Sultan was even stricter the population of muslims in Istanbul Ottoman started to be sheria muslim after Yavuz Selim but the Power of Orthodox chores lasted to it's last years . There was humors about Sultan Fatih was a Christian , but Fatih was attending both Masque and Church so no one can know the truth . According to Turkish historians Turks were already living an Orthodoxy Islam as Baptize was being performed at homes under the name "Kırklama " , Easter was celebrating under the name of Çiğdem Aşı with the same time and tradition like Christians do painting eggs with onions and visiting neighbors with yellow crocus and eggs in chants . A pan full of wheat , candles on it having an half glasses of water at the center was put in front of the muslim prayer , an incense was fired in front of the ceremony house , no need to mention about our Tree belief , all these Orthodox traditions are performed by Turks from Central Asia to Balkans through Anatolia
Orthodoxy is not a denomination, it is the archetype of Christianity.
Yes, the Christian Mystery is alive and well in Orthodoxy

Christ talked about divorce and it was permitted only in case of fornication/adultery. The early Church also expanded this to include cases of desertion and abuse against spouse &/or children. Also Paul spoke in the Spirit of remarriage and such 1 Corinthians 7
ربي والاله يسوع المسيح احرس كنيستك وشعبك.

How zealous and faithful to Traditional Orthodox Christianity the simple people of Alaska have shown themselves Roto be! GOD BLESS THEM! Down here in the lower 48 the OCA buckled down to the World and bent over to accept the Revised Gregorian Calendar. Here we're ashamed of our Russian Orthodox Faith. THERE they adhere to it without question!

Here is an excellent video presentation on the falsely called 'revised-julian' calendar *which is in truth the gregorian calendar* merely retaining the Orthodox Pascha. i am rather polemic when it comes to this issue, so forgive me. but the talk itself is very non-polemic and you can forward it to any friends you have that like to defend the 'new calendar':
*Calendar Reform in the Orthodox Church* by Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky, Holy Trinity Seminary | 1 Hour 8 Minutes

also there is a Russian Version of the same talk:

ps. i'm glad to see you referred to it as the 'revised gregorian calendar'. because that's exactly what it is.
Thank you! God bless you!

efharisto! thank you.
please pray for me, a sinner and catechumen, that the Lord may have mercy on me and unite me to His Holy Orthodox Church.
Thank you, and God Bless you
Edited.
Hi, thank you for your message. I'm very sorry that the film isn't finished yet. I am planning to go back one more time to complete a decade-long portrayal of a Yupik family. But I completely understand your frustration... the project ended up having a much greater scope than I could have imagined, and there were several events that occurred during shooting that changed the film's direction. If you contributed to the campaign please contact me and I will gladly reimburse you.
@@trakovskyfilm Hi, I'm sorry as well.. late night comments do nobody good. I do hope the film gets completed, please do keep updating on the progress of the film..thank you and sorry again
@@OrthoAdjust Totally understand! I am doing a horrible job on updating people. I will try to improve! If possible, please send a message on Facebook to "The Prophecy" with your email address. It is a (completed) spin-off project that we shot in Alaska and I can send you the link! Be well and thank you!

IF YOU WOULD DO A MORE DETAILED RESEARCH THEN YOU WOULD KNOW THAT RUSSIAN EMPIRE ☦☦☦ (NOT THE SAME AS TODAYS RUSSIA) HAVE NEVER RECEIVED THE MONEY FOR THE ALASKA, SO YOU MIGHT SAY THAT THIS LAND IS NOT TERITORY OF UNITED STATES 🤔
Аляска русская земля!

Oh trust me... I'm seeking God! The Alpha! The Omega! The creator of ALL living life! The Author and the Finisher of MY FAITH! :) My Savior! My healer! I'm preaching better then you're amen-ing!!! WHOO! :D I have no doubt in my mind that I am saved!
mrdoishiman - That sounds like self-assuredness, not humble honesty about one's own sinfulness or CONSTANT need for Christ, which would lead one to embrace His BODY, The Church, you cannot separate the Incarnate Son from His body, he's not a Ghost or the founder of a philosophy. Without the Eucharist in the Church He founded (over and against all the modern sects founded in the West), no matter how much "head believing" one does, they do not abide in Christ nor have Life in them (John 6:52-58).
Have you found a religion yet?
I've been to a Russian Orthodox Church... A Saint Hermon's one anyways... I don't want to sound rude, but I was raised to seek after God fully every since I was a boy, I grew up worshiping God through the gifts of the Spirit and music... When I visited the Russian Orthodox Church, I was very depressed and I cried afterwards... Their was no life... and ever since then, I have had a negative view on Orthodoxy. If a church does not have life within the service, then it's just a dead congregation.
mrdoishiman It's saint herman
A pan full of wheat , candles on it having an half glasses of water at the center was put in front of the muslim prayer , an incense was fired in front of the ceremony house , no need to mention about our Tree belief , all these Orthodox traditions are performed by Turks from Central Asia to Balkans through Anatolia
nergiz gündüz We’re not anything like Islam, Islam is based on heresies like Nestorianism.
