1m is heavier full tank customer car on digital weight scale 3351lbs A91 GR Supra MT full tank have been shown to weight 3347lbs on digital scales there also a lightweight special edition that drops the jbl and parking sensor and lane keep assits and cruise control forr an extra 40lbs for weight reduction on the MT Supra so your talking a potential of 3310lbs being the lightest you can option a gr Supra 3.0 MT i dont belive bmw have ever made an inline 6 turbo car that weight less perhaps a striper no options Manual spec 135i e87 hacth might dip below those levels but probaly not by much.

The entire brake by wire conversation resonates with me. It's harder for me to use as a driver. Having owned and tracked both cars too, I didn't run into ICE Mode on the A90 (I kept the stock setup) but have run into it multiple times on the G87.
I like this kind of video as a way of bringing updates or discussions without the need for a bunch of camera work and editing. It's a nice middle ground compared to your usual shop vids.
I do believe the described ice mode issue with the brakes is caused by pad compounds that have a very high initial bite causing a momentary lock up situation where the ABS is triggered to release caliper pressure. I find running pads with less bite tends to help tremendously

Would love to hear y’all talk about driver skills, or even some breakdowns on different tracks that you guys have on the calendar. Building fast cars are fun, but very few people can extract the performance like you guys can!

I can see that, but undoubtedly the Supra will take more work to get up to the M2’s level. The Supra took a turbo kit + port injection to make the power level that M2 did with drop in turbo + stock fuel system.

XDrive is pretty incredible in my short experience with driving one on track. On a tighter track it will be faster than RWD, but higher speed track the weight penalty might hurt it.

Presented by PHD racing i'd honestly love to hear thoughts on both cars for the average weekend track toy. essentially a "low" budget, simple bolt on mods list that could get either car into a dual duty street/weekend warrior type setup. be it autocross or time attack in a lower class than street mod. dont get me wrong, i love watching videos on these two cars, and you are the reason i'll own a supra some day, but i would like to hear talks about simple mods to make both of those cars reliable to and from the track, maybe mild aero, mild suspension, and something that would still be reliable with stock motor (internals) stock trans and stock turbo(s).

You guys are right about the stopping power and reliability of the stock brakes. Well, the front brakes. The rears are laughably parts bin. What do you think about the Alcon kit with the 30mm pads?
Personally the Supra is already heavy enough and I wouldn’t want to go any heavier. The B58 is plenty good enough, I mean TA90 made 650 reliably for years right. Paired with a good suspension and aero package and the Supra is perfect. The Supra is also beautiful but the M2 is hideous.
is it really that heavy thou at 1530kg ZF8 and 1510kg MT i think the supra is pretty light for somthing that pack such a punch and power potential i cant think of a car that is significantly lighter with similar powertrain layout its the lightest inline 6 turbo car in my oppion i really cant find one that is lighter r34 gtr is heavier mk4 supra is also heavier all the inline 6 turbo bmw are heavier then it even the lightweight specials like emira v6 911 t and cayman gt4/gts weight about the same as the Supra with similar power and torque levels pretty much any car that weight less then the Gr Supra are the true featherweigth stuff like the mx5 elise and gr86 but those thing are way less powerfull and a whole different class for inline 6 turbo sports i dont think there a car currently on sale with this powertrain layout that weight less then the supra i really cant think of a car that makes somwhere around 400hp cost less then 100 grand that weight significantly less then a gr supra.
@@patthonsirilim5739 with cars currently on sale, you're right. But most enthusiasts agree that all cars have been getting too heavy. Plenty of older cars had equally beefy powerplants and were lighter, the C6 Z06 had a 7 liter engine and only weighed 3100 pounds
@ c6 z06 is roughly 100 pounds lighter then a91 supra which was a great example but like i said the supra is pretty light regardless of how you want to cut it for what it is sure there might be example of prior models but i think you will be hard press to find a car that is alot lighter then the supra for the same performance/power and price tag mrsp when new.
I love my Supra, new M2 is sick, but I think the Supra chassis feels more special. Realistically I wish I could get the Supra Chassis with M2 electronics and motor lol
@@JackieDing86 do you have any comment on mss has kit on stock damper i tried the rsr super down and it werent that good to drive on the road its alot stiffer and bump are alot harsher i feel like it makes the whole bumpsteer alot worst would mss has kit with very minimal drop like 5-10mm instead of the 30mm drop of the rsr lowering spring improve things.
@@JackieDing86 It was, and it's limited in intercooler size by radiator support and AC condenser location- you end up getting this weird stepped intercooler shape and you have to cut some of the plastic support out of the front of it to fit any decently sized intercooler in there.
FuNdAmEnTaLs Are better on the Supra. Plus the M2 is irredeemably hideous and heavy soo..... The answer is take your $100k budget and build an unlimited class winning C6 or S2K or Evora/Elise or whatever.
As someone who uses the car 65% daily 20% spirited driving and 15% track the M2 suited me better. I just felt I get more out of the M2.. better interior, tech, NVH, brakes, engine, traction control, space(able to fit 4 tires can't say that about the Supra), visibility.. the M2 just felt more versatile. Love the looks of the Supra more though especially stock vs stock.

Dual duty, you can't go wrong with the M2. More capable, but also more easy to live with day to day.

Keep the Supra ride height reasonably close to OEM and you will never have to deal with bumpsteer issues.
