I never hear Tiffany Poon mentioned very often among piano greats, but her versions of many piano pieces are my favorite versions. That can't be an accident. I think it's the lyricism of her playing that works for me.
This has come a LONG way for the better since I heard Tiffany playing this work live for the first time (On "Dreamstage", 2020). This performance shows how mature as an artist she has become in the three years since then. The clarity and elegance are remarkable even for Tiffany's high standards, and always get priority over dazzling show off virtuosity; as well as she didn't take Schumann's "As Fast as Possible" indication for the 1st movement as a license to rush through it like mad and blurring everything up, as, unfortunately, so many pianists do. The second movement and other slower parts show a voicing that brings out details that are usually missed. I confess that Schumann is NOT my favorite piano composer (I prefer his Lieder, symphonies and chamber music), but this interpretation of his sonata surely has become one of my top favorites.
Tiffany is rapidly climbing the ranks as one of my all time favorite pianists. The musicality, passion, clarity... it's all unparalleled here. Incredible artist
There is some vibration she has within that is source of a great vitality in her music, she is playing her Self from which the piano sounds. A pianist with a very well built up personality
I am so inspired by your playing, Tiffany. After decades without practice. I played again -- only to injure my hand afterr years of practice -- and then in old age I began again, and am progressing with Brahms, Beethoven, and Mozart. I hope to play Schumann too.
With the war and all the sufferings going on, the world doesn't make sense anymore. Listening to the 3rd movement "Andantino", there is something infinitely healing from the piano notes --- some moments of comfort & hope. Thanks.
Often overshadowed by the likes of Juju Wang, Khatia Buniatishvili, Valentina Lisitsa and others, Tiffany is a pure joy to watch and listen to. She has a modest air about her yet performs magnificently. BRAVO!! 🎹
Seeeee, your hard work and passion for music are paying off . You are there playing and they are all so absorbed by your typhoon of notes then they clapped like mad when you stop…. Encore encore encore!
Enjoyed listening and watching such a fine and fast performance. Preparing for a performance of Michael Haydn's "The Creation" with my mother singing in the chorus. I have played one or two simple Haydn piano sonatas in church and hope Tiffany is persuaded to play his sonatas.
Too percussive. To say she nailed it is an understatement. I did not realize Schumann alter egos are also 'harsh and too fast.' She can learn and discover from Rafal Blechacz range and performance and let Schumann's genius, intellect and many manic moods take your breathe away (from romantic, witty and insanity)and sing with full tones and musical lines. She's got the talent and technique no doubt.
Hello! I'm a developing pianist. If you follow me you could watch me play Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Bartók and many other composers. That would help me a lot. Thank you so much!!!
in the first movement there're so many notes, but not offerring much. a bunch of notes perfectly permeated over regarding the norm of the times. what a boring composition the first movement is, making-up an ordinary idea with a lot of virtuoso passages.
I have never heard this Sonata from Schumann bevor, but it is stunning! I love the lightness and high professionality from this young lady! Bravo! :)

Maravillosa interpretación, realmente ella entiende las intenciones más íntimas de Schumann

Correction: "Andantino" is the 2nd movement, not 3rd. I apologize for my mistake.

She's just like 1.5x speed on TH-cam.
Fantastic. I'm shocked. She only "loses" to Marta Argerich.
Schumann is the patron saint of bipolar artists tortured by creative mania and self-doubt.
I needed full concentration when I performed this knuckle buster.

so much rushing at the 1st mvt last part, needs more control of own emotion and phase, keep going..~

完全没有比例,虚假且华而不实。这不是音乐,只不过是一个个散落的音符罢了。
