This is my Daihatsu Charade GTti which comes with a 1.0L 3 cylinder twincam EFI motor which happens to be up against a Nissan Silvia S15 SR20 2.0L 4 cylinder at the dragstrip @ quit Motorplex Perth WA. The results speak for themselves!

my car specs:
Microtech MT8 ECU, Blitz DUAL SBC EBC, 2.5" turbo back exhaust, RX7 fuel pump, 14psi
S15 specs via visual indication:

What was the time for the Charade? Best dragtime for a Gtti I know is a 13.2x by a driver from Austria that tuned his Gtti up to over 200hp.

@ThySirAhsan yes it was a converted 4 door aus delivered carby turbo model with all the electrics and stuff and put the CB70 motor inside

I used to have one these cars and I have to say they are one of the best all round cars ever .. and that's coming from somebody who has had a few cars in the past
hey guys! i hav a problem on my charade, i check the compression on my engine and i only got 93 on every cylinder. is it ok if i used d standard piston and will be putting an oversized piston ring? pls i need an advice on this

the Formula 1 urbocharged cars ran up to 70 psi, i know a cosworth engineer who had a 1.0 litre engine putting out 1500 hp at 19'000 rpm with 72 psi of boost.
the engine would only last about 2 hours at race pace, but that was F1 in the turbo years.
Also group B rally cars ran up to 50 lbs, on stock blocks.

If a rubber tyre can withstand pressures in excess of 60 PSI (which most tyres can), there is absolutely no doubt that a standard Alu intercooler pipe would hold up at 100. Also, even at those pressures, the exhaust flow aft of the turbine would be a pulsation. For drag, solid engine mounts are used. Finally, PSI doesn't equal heat. Go touch a fire extinguisher... The process of pressurising the air is what generates all the heat.

thats very true, but the GTTI would have a greater advantage on the track since its much light and handles alot better so the outcome would be the same

Actually, an engine could probably run 100PSI. If a deformable material like rubber can handle 60 PSI, I am sure a normal alu intercooler pipe could handle alot more. Also, even at those pressures, the turbo exhaust flow would still be a pulsation.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Heck everyone has different tastes to what cars they like. No my car isn't the fastest car on the planet, and I don't intend it to be. But its not the car, it's the driver and in THIS case I won even though the car itself is capable of acheiving better times.

if you didnt read it above, the 100psi run was a joke with the video just sped up. Is it really that hard to understand. I've only heard of an actual car (skyline) running around 40psi maximum. Even that amount is totally insane for a street car!

yeah sure the aftermarkt support is huge but to get 450kw out of a sr20 youd have to pay much more than getting 450kw out of a 13b, and about maintaining a 13b lets say i wont have to pay anyone to do it for me ;), besides the rx7 is such an smooth ride even when driving at the limit and to me thats worth putting in the time and money for maintenance
no... thats 450kw with a big single turbo, your thinking of a paralel turbo which like the ones in the GTR and Supra ,the stock twin turbo in an rx7 is sequential meaning a small turbo spools at the low rpm range then at the higher mid rpm range a second small turbo kicks in both which really is more about being alot more responsive then for gaining alot of power

to get the full "potential" out of a s15 youd have to turn around and spend another big lump sum of cash which is still alot more than a modified gtti, i dont see the appeal of an s15 honestly the gtti costs a hell of alot less and when fully modified unlike the one in the vid which is stock, goes much Harder but overall out of a s15 and a gtti id rather an rx7 :P

100PSI is impossible. it would explode even titanium lol you would need 5 inch thick piping all through-out also you would need the block drop-forged or something to reinforce it. PSI = Heat. Heat = DEATH TO ENGINES your exhaust would melt aswell. the Turbo would also act like a jet engine and shoot a beam of fire in a line. ontop of that. it would more then less likely add so much thrust it would throw your engine off balance and it would eat away at your motor-mounts.. so much for a joke LOL

you dont even know how turbo's work either... they work on exhaust fumes, not "grunt" and rotaries produce just as much exhaust fumes as v8's man you really need to do some reading and as for "grunt" ive seen non turbo 400hp rotaries hows that for grunt?

The charade GTti is a 1 litre 99HP car Vs a stock swift which is 1.3 litre 102HP. Stock swift will thrash it. Oh and the there the same weight. (by the way that charade is turbo and still slow..LOL)
